A lot of spells are cheaper from NPC than AH. I used to buy scrolls from NPC and sell them on AH. >_>; Always compare prices when shopping.

WHM Spell list (including where to get them): http://ffxi.somepage.com/spelldb/ind...s=White%20Mage

Become familiar with ffxi.somepage.com for stuff and your life will be much better.

As for making gil, in addition to selling crystals if you stay in the Bastok area, beehive chips from bees will be a pretty good money maker for you. Curing yourself as you farm will slowly raise your healing skills as well while being a little less boring then standing somewhere quiet and constantly casting cure.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

HTTP Error 418 - I'm A Teapot - The resulting entity body MAY be short and stout.

fishing is probably one of the least expensive crafts to level up for profit. Not to mention that you can take fishing up to 100 along with any other craft that requires a crystal to synth an item.

Several fish (especially at the lower levels) stack to 12 and sell very well. To start, I recommend Port SanDoria (since you are on that side of the world) with Insect paste. This will get you moat carp until level 10, once you hit that cap you will have to head over to Windurst in order to test to level up more. (the fishing guild is in Windurst).

The only things you will need are the bait (insect paste), rod (I highly recommend a halcyon - but whatever you can afford at the time) and some time to fish.

An old, but good starting reference is the Clanwind fishing database. I have it bookmarked at home unfortunately, but I am sure you can google for it as well. This could help you gain the extra gil needed to level up your cooking, not to mention fishing and cooking compliment each other well.
I dont suffer from insanity - I enjoy it.

You'll pretty much find out that you'll be having to cast Cure according to its tier later on. There's a simple rule I found that works as well.

Cast your highest tier if that player's health gets lower than you expect, otherwise use one tier below your highest for normal curing. My Taru has an assload of MP gear. ;3

When you're in the Dunes Cure II may look fancy, however that will drop your MP fast. So, stick with Cure I until the tank (or everyone) takes a hard hit. You'll see that the rule is effective-- especially at higher levels. Don't count out the lesser cures, at least down to Cure II. ;3

          Have fun being White Mage.
Almost four years experience playing FFXI. I am a Raccoon, not a Hyena--despite my name states I am one.

Get creative and pretend these happened.

It's a bit early for the OP to consider this but...

I don't remember the exact break point, but I seem to recall that somewhere about the mid-30s, Cure II eventually becomes less efficient than either Cure I or Cure III, and never recovers.

I don't even have Cure II on my macro list for this reason; anyone hurt for about 100ish damage by that point deserves a Regen(15MP for 120+HP), not a Cure II(24MP for 90-113HP depending on gear).

Moral of the story: Always do the math and see how much value you're getting out of your spells. Unless situations indicate that you need more healing, always stick to the lowest, most efficient spell you can.

I seem to remember that as well.

I currently have all 5 strengths of cure as well as my 2 current strengths of regen macroed, but cure, cure II, and Regen (one) are on a seperate macro set that I mostly use for BCNM, promyvon, powerlevling, and random other "low level related" activites.

At 65, I still lean heavily on cure 3 the most, followed by cure 5. Cure 4 I find myself using very situationally.

I want to be better at PT's but I just run out of MP so fast. Is there anything like a foodstuff or a particular piece of equipment that I can get to help get some more MP so I can be more effective in pt's? It is so hard to go out and only be able to cast cureII a few times before I am having to heal myself again. and since ether's are like 4800 a piece, it is hard to justify that.
I'm Elvaan as well and I always had this problem as well. Unfortunately while I was still levelling I took the approach of increasing my total MP. I bought as much MP gear as I could, used Marron Glace and Icecap Rolanberry, and spent a fortune levelling Cooking so I could make Yag Drinks.

I was WHM73 when someone told me I was too slow for a TP Burn party (even with a Dark Staff), and suggested I work on my Healing MP. So I swapped some of my MP gear & Icecaps for an Errant Houp, Ginger Cookies and it made a big difference. At lower levels, you can probably get away with combining MP gear with either cookies or drinks (Cookies will definetly be cheaper in the long run). Having a Corsair giving you Healer's Roll at a low level is also VERY useful.

The other tricks have already been mentioned - Regen of any level is SO useful, not just in saving MP but also controlling hate. Remember, less Cures also means less Cures you'll have to use on YOURSELF.
