Yesterday it finally happened, I finally lost patience with the populace of Vana'diel. The Tension had been building for a while, and yesterday was just to much. I am officially hanging up my Healer's Cap.
While being a whm has been great (I do thourghly enjoy healing) The combination of the players blattent disrespect for whm's and the Devs compleatly ignoring the problems with the job (i wont go into details on this, but there ARE significant problems with the job) is enough to kill any joy I found in the Job. I'm not really sure where I am wanting to go from here. Most likly I will re-persue Samurai, and Possably Bard.

I have been one-shotting most of West Ronfar on my Rng. from 1-9 on wabbits, that was some good stress relife

im a RDM main and i used to like blm, but after taking whm to 37 i liked it more....tell me what is your problems with the later lvls whm. I was thinking of taking it higher...but what are the flaws, i didnt seem to think there was any/much o.o

i know a lot of whm get left out later on when rdm/whm and sometimes smn/whm take over healing with fast xp pts. with a brd or cor + rdm/whm, you got all your healing covered + debuffs. whm thus is sorta dead weight as they can only really heal. yea they can help with flash and some other buffs but many players forego this, and go for the heavy hitting pt setup. a lot of people will risk not having r2 or r3 for a 0 downtime pt.

im not saying a whm will give downtime, which is hardly the case. but if you have say a brd, rdm and whm. thats more healing that you will ever need, even more so with a ninja tank. a whm will be sitting with near full mp always. that pt slot might be better dedicated to another DD.

this is why se made the changes to whm. to give whm the undisputed edge in healing and additional pt worth. im not sure how whm really feel about the new changes though, or if they help the situation since the changes are only good for merit/end game pts.

You're not the only one, I'm taking up RNG/WAR and gonna fully merit it. WHM is so disgustingly annoying right now. I have people I don't even know /tell me for teleports while I'm /anon and in my mog house. I'll be AFK, and they'll get pissy with me, and when I get back, I yell at them, and hear, "Sorry, I heard you're a WHM from a friend and I needed a tele."

This pisses me off, REALLY bad. I'm not a tele whore, I have better things to do with my time than tele your ass around. I won't help you with quests off the fucking bat. I don't know you, I don't care who knows me, I won't help you unless it's worth my time or I'm very bored.

I've been in a merit party, and had a guy ORDER me to get out of the party and tele him, just because my party was "Taking all of their party's XP".......

So I'm done with WHM. It's a good job, fun when you have people who appreciate you, bad when you have idiots who think you're their bitch.

I had a person say I tried to MPK him when I FLASHED a link of his, and it killed him. He TOLD me to give him an RIII or he would've called a GM. I warped......

I'm no longer the "Nice, pure" White Mage that people have come to believe I am. White Mages aren't fucking tree huggers. We played the job for the benefits and the love of the job.

Well, sorry for the rant, but I'm done.

Meh. Don't let people boss you around. Ignore the dimwits (with /blist if necessary), and go about your business.

People don't bother me - if they ask me for a Teleport, I just say "No." and that generally ends the conversation. If they want a Raise III and they're not within visual range, it's the same thing - "No."

I'm not playing WHM to be everyone's manservant, I play it because it's fun and I like helping friends (emphasis on this word). If I don't know you, I'm probably too busy doing other stuff to go out of my way to help you. Don't like it? Tough.

Besides, if you think being WHM75 is bad, try being on BRD75. I have to remember to turn on /anon BEFORE switching jobs to Bard or else I'll get 2-4 tells within 30 seconds asking me if I want to join a merit party...

I guess merit parties might be a different issue because most of the time I end up in a RDM+BRD setup when I play RDM, but leveling up as PLD I've found less and less WHM aviable (and more RDM and BRDs really o.O ).

So I'm glad I'm gonna static with some friends to get those last 4 lvls with PLD, but I wonder what's gonna happen if I decide to take another Job to 75.

I have to say, even at low levels folks are very demanding of their WHM. I was levling WHM at the dunes so I could RDM/WHM at Qufim, and there was no shortage of idiot tanks who would ignore my requests to let me heal MP before the next pull. Inevitably, these tanks all died, at least once during our parties, but usually several times... always followed by f*cking WHM, you're good for nothing! You're the most terrible WHM I have ever seen!! Learn how to do your damn job! etc...

How do they expect me to heal if I have no MP?

I see less and less WHM in parties, probably for this reason.


As far as teleports and stuff go, and helping out folks with tough quests, etc. I would say that the upcoming shortage of WHM could be a golden opportunity to make a little extra cash here and there. I saw a very busy WHM today in Jeuno hawking Teleports for 5K apiece... and he had quite a few takers.

After playing WHM, I can't even begin to comprehend leveling it to 75. I had previously resolved to level it to 37 myself, so I could sub it for my RDM all the way to 75, but I really don't even have the patience to take it up to 20... and am now probably going to level BLM to be my RDM's main sub.

A lot of WHM seem to end up quitting it. I haven't really quit my WHM, it's just that my SMN is more useful for what I do most of the time. >_>
