    Re: WHM - Farming? Shaa?

I suggest crafting, it involves no battles at all, and you will be investing in something that might fund you for the rest of your game career, know this though: it takes time, patience and if you dont wish to spend much, youll have to travel alot, being a WHM means you can teleport around, and that cuts down on time very nicely.

Cooking and Alchemy are the best starters because theres not much investment, if youre serious about it, a high-level cook/alchemist has the ability to craft things that everyone uses in their daily basis ingame.

Pick a tradeskill and start researching, i find much pleasure in researching for new info and recipes for alchemy, and the whole crafting for profit is a whole new game of economics and quick decisions that i found within FFXI.

Farming just isn't much of an option for WHMs. Sure, WHM can farm with little to no downtime... but the kill speed is light years behind every other job, so you come out behind overall.

If tele-taxi doesn't do the trick for you, then definitely start investing in craftskills and be patient with it. Fishing and crafting can yield a fair amount of money, as can harvesting and mining. Chocobo digging and gardening can also pull in a lot of money if you're patient.

        Re: WHM - Farming? Shaa?

I was bored one day and decided to go try the Giddeus Chest key. 2 hours and many skillups later the Chest key dropped and I got a Shield earing which sold for 10k on AH in Jeuno. I just did it again and unfortunetly got a Sardonyx(1k in AH). Now I'm thinking of camping the NM which drops the Beast Whistle which goes for 30k in AH. While I was there, there was no one there. But I could take about 2 Yagudo linked as a 37 WHM(With almost no MP left). My adivce is to try and farm at areas 10 levels below you and you should handle almost everything.(Don't forget to cast Enfeebles like Paralyze and bring a powerful Club).

First things first, do as somebody mentioned above and go level thief until at least 15. At 15 you get Treasure Hunter which will give you a better chance at drops.

Secondly, diversify your money-making options. Always have a back-up plan for money-making in case something happens (price drops, zone over-farmed, etc).

Personaly, I would recommend heading for the N. Gustaberg area (up near the P. Mines) and farm for 2 things: bee chips and grain seeds. Bee chips can be turned into bees wax (level 5 alchemy - farm on the Hill where Stinging Sophie spawns, but the area can be over-farmed for that reason) and grain seeds that can be grown into tarutaru rice. Be careful with the rice as the market crashes easily, but a stack of tarutaru rice can go for around 8-13k a stack and you get a ton (not kidding) of rice from one grain seed. The grain seeds themselves sell for 20-30k per stack.

            Re: WHM - Farming? Shaa?

I havn't leveled THF to 15 yet but another way that I make gil is off BCNMs 20, 40 and 50 are the real money makers according to most.

I have the luck of being a 75BST which lets me do a lot of those BCNMs. Don't forget about ENMs either, even ENM30 drops high-end items and doesn't require any CoP mission done.

The drop rate is pretty horrible for those Promyvion ENM30's ^_^; I wouldn't bank on it as a gil making scheme.

I go digging (not as profitable as it was couple months ago though), killing bees, killing crawlers.

Just wait til level 50: go to lower or middle delkfults and go pot farming

True, but the best thing about ENMs are that they're free. And you can easily fit all three Lv30 Promy ENMs in one night, too.

Yes but can you do them solo? If not, they're not very reliable. Finding people willing to help, even if they get a cut of the money, isn't very easy.

A possibly objectionable but not inherently morally dishonest way to make gil is to play the auction house. Buy something that sells uber-cheap from a NPC, and sell it at whichever auction house it sells for the most at. You'll never strike it super-rich with this, but over time you can slowly fill your pockets. I used to sell little worms in Bastok for 1k a stack (cost about 30g to buy a stack from NPC). Nice perent profit returned for almost nil effort. But only one person can do it at a time or it crashes and you're left with stacks and stacks of worms. Also, it clogs up your auction house.

Another nice thing is to set up a deal with a crafter. For a long time, I had a thing going with a leathercrafter named Rha, he needed couerl hides to skill up on, and I had more of them than I knew what to do with. I was willing to sell at a discount to get the hides out of my inventory fast (and since I would have dropped them anyway, it was 100% profit), and he suddenly had a way of making decent gil while skilling up his leathercraft.

I'd just fill up my inventory with hides, set them up in a bazaar, and leave myself idling at whatever predetermined location while I went off and did my off-game life, and he would come past, buy a couple hides, synth whatever he was synthing, buy a few more, synth, etc etc, until he emptied my inventory.

Now he's skilled up over 100, though, got his apron and everything, and doesn't need me to get ready materials for him. I need to find another crafter...

Yes, it was inspired by the Simpsons

                      Re: WHM - Farming? Shaa?

I'd suggest farming for crafting materials for either cooking or alchemy. I used to farm beastmen blood and slime oil and craft jusatsu and silent oil like it was going out of fashion. Silent oil kind of dropped off but the market in jusatsu always seemed pretty buoyant. On the cooking side, just farm mobs like dhalmels and buffalo when you level higher and make food. Both crafts are slow burners for raising gil but it's a relatively steady income.

Also, level ninja as a sub to reduce your downtime and quest Utsusemi: Ichi rather than buy it. So, don't throw away any zinc ore or yag necklaces you acquire while farming.
