  • WHM Soloing ToAU Items

My highest job is a level 34WHM/17BLM and I'm thinking of soloing the quest items for the ToAU ferry pass. I need to collect all six subjob quest items(Magickd Skull, Crab apron, dhalmel leather, etc) so could I pull it off by myself? I'm also thinking about getting my BLM(17), THF(15), and just go for an EXP party and ask if we could fight the monsters that will drop them.

But do you think my 34WHM could handle the monsters?

Possibly. Since it's your first job, i'm guessing you don't have "OMGWTFBBQ1337" equip or skills (no offense), on top of being a WHM it would be very hard. if you had /NIN as a sub, it wouldn't be too bad, but without, i'd recommend just gettinga buddy to help you.

Although, other than BLU COR and PUP, there isn't really much for you in Al'zahbi yet

I'm just very curious about ToAU new land, new stuff. But thanks. I'm going to give it a try. PUP looks intresting and I want to try it out, as well as BLU. But I can solo Leeches on the beach in Buburimu Penensuila(Sp?) by nuking them to death.

With the exception of the Bogys, the leeches are harder than the things you have to fight for the subjob items. Just make sure to fight the Bogys in Buburimu. They're the lowest level ones that drop the robe. Other than that you should be fine. Just don't get careless and watch out for links and aggro.

Maybe level it to 36 at least so that gobs don't aggro? Max level for gobs is lv25.
It will help to head there with teleports too.

            Re: WHM Soloing ToAU Items

Unless you're absolutely desperate to open Blue Mage, Corsair, or Puppetmaster, there's really not much reason to journey to Aht Uhrgan at level 34. Everything in those zones is level 65+, so there's nothing you can fight, and there's not much else to do there either. Besieged is a waste of time at that level, and you can't even participate in Assault until level 50.

unless you're a healer, besieged is a waste of time for a low level. there is never enough healing in besieged.

I would suggest you go to 40 and equip yourself with the Holy Breastplate and a good hammer. On top of farming the items for TaU, you can get some nice hammer skillups in there =)

To get those items, you could always offer to help noobs get them for their subjob quest, too, that way you'll have a few extra fighters hanging around, and maybe even a Thief so TH can kick in. Sure it might take a bit longer because you'll be going after more drops, but the downtime will lessen significantly and the risk of {death} will also lessen.

the bogys would be the hardest thing, but the whole process will take a really long time without help and /thf for treasure hunter.

                    Thanks Yyg!

                      Re: WHM Soloing ToAU Items

If you try the Bogies in Buburimu, pull them near the Onzozo or Bibiki zones. That way if you get into trouble, you can zone easily.

If you do ask for high level help on Bogies, go to Lower Delkfutt's Tower. They are always up and people would be more willing to help seeing that it's closer. Then again, if you wait until 36, you'll be able to Tele-Mea and take them there.

NOTE: Rabbit Tail, Dhalmel Saliva, Damselfly Worm, & Crab Apron are all easy drops with /THF. I helped a friend get his and we killed 3 rabbits and 1 dhalmel

EDIT: Actually, Bloody Robe is too.

The absolute BEST way to get the Aht Urgan ferry pass is to go to Davoi, Castle Oztroja, or Beadeaux and ask if the parties there are hunting for beastmen coffer keys. If they are, they're probably not interested in the virtual flood of testimonies that will drop like candy any time you don't want them. All you need is one, should take minimal time, and doesn't cost the coffer key hunters anything to let you join.

                          Re: WHM Soloing ToAU Items

You can fight them, but remember to bring some juice with you and use a staff if you can. There really isn't any good, damage-dealing clubs at that level *despairs* so if you want to do some damage on the non-skellies try to go with a staff. Also, you'll need the juice to help keep your mp up because once it runs out... you're hosed.

If you haven't already, try to go for your NPC buddy. It makes your whm life a whole lot easier when you have somebody else helping, and your NPC buddy is there whenever you want (given that you get your hands on a tactics pearl). I'm a 75 whm and I still use my NPC buddy to help out in quests, coffer keys, and fighting mobs that would be just a touch to tough for me.

I'm a level 37WHM now and I just completed the NPC quest. I soloed the dragon and NM. This gives me more hope. I still haven't been able to get the expansion pack(Mainly because I just moved and I don't have too much time). Also, how do I change my NPC's job from "Shield" ?

When your npc levels to 31 (32?), you'll get the option to switch jobs at the redezvous points. Later on (@50 npc level) you'll get the quest to give them their "advanced" jobs.

Good ol' Dem (my npc) is usually on Fierce Attacker now... but the n00b is starting to out-damage me and pulling hate. "Level 75 tank > 54 tank dude! Stop outdamaging me!" Then I hexa-strike and all is peaceful in the world again. Though, now that I think on it, it would help to remove all the -enimity gear.

                              NPC buddy = WHM friend

Errr... what was the OP topic again?
