Is /BLU an option now?

Hi, I'm a lvl 20 WHM and I was wondering what people thought of BLU as a possible sub for WHM.

BLU offers some nice defensive spells such as Metallic Body and Cocoon at a low level, lvl 8. So at lvl 16 a WHM would have Metallic Body which is the Stone Skin Effect. As a tank I know that at these low levels hate is difficult to control and a couple big cures and the WHM is getting whacked.

So basically I was thinking of trying /BLU from 20 until about 30 then I might go back to BLM.

How's the MP pool on /BLU vs. /BLM at those levels? Neither one really offers any spells that I would consider absolute necesseties at that range, though Drain can also be nice if you get hate for a moment. MP is a huge factor for WHM. I haven't heard very good things about Metallic Body, honestly. It seems that Metallic Body is to Stoneskin what Blink is to Utsusemi. And I haven't bothered with Stoneskin in a party more than five times (not counting casting it when someone's AFK or we're waiting for something other than MP). I mean, if I have a chance to get Stoneskin up, great, but I'm not going to put actual effort into it.

It's probably do-able. I don't know if it'd be ideal or not, but what are the odds of everything in Qufim and Kazham being ideal? Try it and tell us how it goes.

From what I can see, no, /BLU is not terribly viable unless you're solo. Metallic Body is so much inferior to Stoneskin it isn't even funny, and you already have Curaga if you need AoE healing, which leaves your only useful ability as Coccoon.

For solo purposes, Coccoon is nice, but strictly speaking, Phalanx from /RDM is simply better (though much higher level). And in XP settings, neither spell is of much use at all.

yeah, 1 hit with metallic body does like half of the hit dmg, and takes it off... the only job i see subbing blu is bst and war, lower lvls... and ive went as bst/blu for the BCNM20 bats, and it was alright.
