Well I have to say when I went after this for my Whm we had 10 people..Well a friend of mine Rainsong needed his Healers Briault and we couldnt get no Help for it..So me Rdm 75 and my Roomate a 75 BST and 75 SMN decided to try it anyway ..Well the Whm hid while I keeped enfeebles on it, Bst called Carrie out and Smn called Carby..Bst and Smn Kited it back and Forth, I keeped enfeebles and refreshed the SMN..And after 10 mins we beat that with just 3 people and the Whm stayed out of site till it was over ..I thought that was a good accomplishment, Seeing is when I did it it took 10 and 2 People died...So if you cant get a Party Gathered for it..Try this Setup you wont be dissapointed...

Light orange on white is really hard to read.

That being said, duoing that particular mob is a nice accomplishment. Dimentional Death spam starts getting really annoying as he gets low on health.

I've beaten the NM for this with only RDM75/NIN37 + WHM75/BRD37(me) before. Dimensional Death is weaksauce against level 75s with shadows.

I got mine with a SMN75 merc. I stayed at the entrence of the zone, he kited the mob with carby and killed it. Wasn't exactly fast, but it was there and he's done it quite a few times successfully.

I haven't done it yet, but yes it is possible for a 70+ summoner to easily solo this mob.

Since on the top floor no monsters agro you have a lot of kiting space and if you have an item that gives you refresh (Yinyang, Vermilion cloak or Dalmatica) you can last a long time.

It will be a long fight and a lot of running around, but summoners can solo him with relative ease.

Carbuncle being based on light will probably resist the darkness based Dimensional death quite a bit as well I believe.
(Any summoner able to confirm this?)

You could probably last forever without refresh, wear JSE body.

Don't use blood pacts as they get hate for you which a carby hitting the mob wont get back... best to just chip him down slowly.

Me, 56 WHM at the time and my 75 NIN friend duo'd this... Bring a couple yagudo drinks and make sure to keep the nin hasted and mob dia II at least... as long as the nin can keep up shadows you should be ok... and stay far enough away to avoid AOE.

RDM/NIN can solo it, I've done it before. It's even easier if you have a WHM coming along (and since this is a WHM AF quest, you usually do XD)

The only potential problem comes in when he does a -ga spell (Sleepga in particular) and immediately follows it with Dimensional Death.

My recommendation is to turn around temporarily when you see a -ga spell coming and try to avoid giving it TP during this time. Try to time your Utsusemi so that you immediately have it back up after the -ga lands. If it's Sleepga and you get slept, spam one of your Utsusemis (hopefully Ni) until you get struck by something that wakes you up.

This guy is Miser Murphy's cousin; he has the insane Endrain effect on his attacks, but this guy has an insane Enaspir on his own attacks. Needless to say, having shadows down, even with Stoneskin up, is hazardous X_x

Hmm...I would tend to think quite the opposite. Light has strong attack, but weak defense versus Darkness (and vice versa). Even at level 75, I'd imagine that Dimensional Death would pack quite a whallop on Carby.

Dimensional Death is physical (it can miss and it does 0 damage to a PLD with invincible on), and avatars have -50% physical damage taken. It'd still hurt, but it wouldn't be too big of an issue. It'd just take forever. As Sethe said, it's better to just chip away at the NM than try blood pacting it. Unless you don't mind pulling hate as SMN. >_>a

stun his -gas and if it lands a -ga it must be flashed ASAP. he will spam Dimensional Death, especially when low on health and right after a -ga. Shadows got {Impossible to Gauge} {Dimensional Death}.

Hmm.. I didn't know Dimensional death was a physical attack.

Yes I agree that you should hold off blood pacts to get minimal hate.
You could maybe use a 70 Blood pact to finish him off when he has about 7/10ish % left and hope it lands.
But for the rest, chip him down slowly.

As for whm/nin, yes it's very possible.
whm/nin is sonething very powerful, but if you can keep him silenced there's not much to worry about anyway
