    Re: V-Cloak, Worth It?

It's crazy...I checked last week. Also, at the time I had checked, Scorpion Harness had shot up to 16 million, and Haubergeon was almost 10 million. My girlfriend checked Emperor's Hairpin today and told me it's going for 6 million, and I think Rabbit Charm was going for 3 mill. It's crazy @_@ I can't find a cause for the sudden burst in prices though...I mean, I could literally see the Scorpion Harness's price history going 12 12 13 13 14 15 15 @_@

Yeah, prices are crazy right now. Enfeebling Torque was 2.8mil when I started saving for it. It went up to 4mil before it dropped back down to 3.3mil when I bought it. Elemental Torque was 1.8mil, now it's up to 4mil. /sigh

Lv.62 Elvaan RSE hands were 1.8mil, they were 4mil last night. (I figured I'd buy 'em. MP+55 and INT+4 helps an Elvaan RDM big time!) Prices have been jumping a lot lately. Hauby jumped 2mil, Scorp Harness jumped 3mil.

Not anymore. . . now its 20 mil with royal sitting at 30 mil. Ustu Ichi was ~300k but is now in the 1.2 mil. Everything shot up by about 30% at least. . . can we just prevent all gil buying somehow? I know ppl say they have no time, but buying gil just makes it worse! if there was no gil buying, there would be no need because nothing would be inflated so much!

            Re: V-Cloak, Worth It?

i never think vcloak is worth it or useful for a rdm since rdm body and head af2 is very good.
I even once had it for my rdm but found it useless and sold it back. But now for some reason i have a royal for investment and also for my pld sometimes.

                  Re: V-Cloak, Worth It?

I have a Vermillion Cloak, and have had for about 1 year now, so here is my two cents

                  1) Is it worth the current price? No.
                  2) Is it worth owning? Yes.
                  3) For WHM specificially, is it as good as Nobles Tunic, No.

                  4) Is the loss of the head piece important? Not at all. I havent used a head piece since Lv 65 and I dont have any hate problems. Even as a tarutaru with a mountian of MP to use and no HP its not an issue. Investment in -enmity equipment is par for the course as WHM the loss of the head slot will not make or break you. Sky runs and other longer fights it could be an issue but by then you have plenty of -enmity anyway and the tanks have lots of +enmity. I havent noticed any problems with hate on anyone expect Kirin or stronger.

                  General Comment:
Occasionaly I have forgoten to take out my Vermillions Cloak on a Sky run or an EXP party and I have missed my auto-refresh immensly, Auto-refresh is an excellent attribute and no other attribute even comes close to being as good for WHM IMO.

In pure monetary terms is Vermillion Cloak worth it? Probably not, you could use that money and craft Yagudo Drinks for your entire FFXI career for less gil, but for sheer convenience I would say yes.

. . . now [vermillion cloack] 20 mil with royal sitting at 30 mil.
Be lucky your not on Odin. V.cloack jumped from a fairly stable 7-8M to a staggering 15M in two days. It then climbed to 21M.

Royal Cloak hasn't sold in the past ~week (i think) and is still around 14M.

                      X_x

And just as I got my back to 9M, the price had to tripple...

Yesterday I checked Verms and Nobles on Midgard. The Verm was at 19mil and the Nobles at 23 mil. I don't think I've ever seen them so close in price before!

I'd say if you have the money for it, then by all means go spurlge yourself. But usefulness wise, it's not the best armor piece. I did not like the idea of sacrificing the head slot just so I can have auto-refresh but then again, it is probably just a personal preference.

On Lacille (my other character) I just used AF till 71 when a very generous friend bought me my own nobles. At the moment, I do own both, but most of the time, the Vermy is just sitting in storage not getting much use since I adore my Nobles.

                            Re: V-Cloak, Worth It?

I'm soon to be WHM59 and I would like to know if V-Cloak is even worth using? The price of it on the Phoenix 10mil and I can easily get the money from HNM's but I just want to know is it even worth my time/energy to buy?

                            V. Cloak is a great item in itself but not worth taking a massive amount of time out for. Only an idiot would call you sub-par or gimped if you don't have one.

Sure, if you find that you struggle with mp in parties then go for it, but chances are if you are struggling at these levels then a v. cloak probably won't help you very much as there is a greater problem with your MP Conservation skills.

Stats wise, V. Cloak is giving you a small amount of MP (10MP + 1%), Evasion -10 (which shouldn't really affect you too much) and a 1mp/tick Auto-Refresh (which isn't very much at all).

If you do your math, as a taru with about 850MP the V. Cloak would give me + 8.5 MP where the AF would give me 28MP.

Now V. Cloak uses up your body and head slot. Which means if you are wearing the cloak during battle you are not using your AF Body and Head items. If we weigh up the AF Body and Head (combined) stat-wise you are loosing out on:

                            28MP
                            Wind: 10
                            Dark: 15
                            Enfeebling +10
                            Enimity -5

Up front the Wind and Dark aren't that important to you.

The MP of 28 is greater than what the V. Cloak will give you, you would need 3,000 MP to get a 30MP out of it.

The Enfeebling skill is worth it, as a good mage will be Enfeebling some right?

Then that - Enimity... -5 Enimity is a lot and does make a difference, it allows you to push yourself that little bit further.

So, WHM AF Body and Head are greater than a V. Cloak.

I did own a V Cloak at one point, and I actually sold it again. It didn't make a difference worth noting, to be honest. I find myself managing better with my AF body and a hairpin or my AF body & cap than I ever did with the cloak.

The Enfeebling skill is worth it, as a good mage will be Enfeebling some right?
Except you can and should switch in the af body when casting enfeebles along with other +mnd gear, then switch back. So that's really not a lose to using a vermillion.
Stats wise, V. Cloak is giving you a small amount of MP (10MP + 1%), Evasion -10 (which shouldn't really affect you too much) and a 1mp/tick Auto-Refresh (which isn't very much at all).
You are really underestimating that if you consider it not very much. That's 600 mp every 30 mins. Its the equivalent of +3.3mph after you start getting ticks every 10 seconds (even larger while the ticks take 20 secs). Even better is it works all the time. Any seasoned whm will tell you +mpH is your top priority, especially over max mp. Max mp is pretty insignifigant end game and the mp difference isn't very large.

As for the loss of -enimity, just macro in your af (or errant later) when you cast flash or cure 4. Once you get cure 5 and regen 3, you won't have hate problems anyway until you reach the end game hnm scene.
