Anyone ever planning on finishing WHM Relic WPN? orz

Other day I was chatting with a good DRG friend of mine named Goddess. She was telling me that she was just about to complete step 3 for her lance and we chatted about how it had taken her 6 mos to get to that point.

Then I realized, would I ever want to get the WHM Relic Weapon? lol

WHM is my main and I love the job dearly. But would I be willing to go through hell and highwater to get a relic weapon that... .lmao ... may be worthless?

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone around here started working towards theirs and what they've been through and what they think is the point of getting it... lol

I mean!... well, like I just want to get everything I can for the job since I love it so much.... but maybe its just a big, senseless joke and I should just resort to watching the paint peel off the walls in my apartment. orz

Y'know, I never thought about the Club Relic. I mean I've aways known there was one, but never even thought about the point of somebody going through all the trouble to actually get one.

Besides the Relic Weapon Skill, does it give any other stats that might be even remotely beneficial to ~anybody~?

I would really like to have the Scythe, Great Sword, and the Sword Relics. I know that sounds freak'n crazy. Considering all the work required for just one relic and here I'm mentioning 3 of them. But having Scythe and Great Sword for my DRK and the Sword for my RDM would the greatest!

Relic Weapons are so insanely hard to complete all the way. Only do that if you are dedicated. Even then, it would take an insane amount of money and time.

The final weapon for WHM I would like to have is Morgenstern (the +6% crit club), good enough for me. I am not even gonna bother with completing relics, too much effort. It's a job to complete it, and I wanna play the game.

My understanding is that the WHM relic club WS is an MP regen WS, making it a quite selfish weapon. With all the other Relic weapons LS's can benefit from the extra damage at least. So I guess there's no large group of people that are prepared to help a WHM get something that benefits him or her solely.

I could be wrong on both accounts though - the WS being an MP Regen skill is heresay. Also I am unaware of anyone even attempting to clear the Relic Maul, but again this is heresay.

One of my friends are going for it, she has been trying for 3 months now, According to her shes allmost done with it. t does have a WS tha gives you MP and per hit you get some MP back (I think....) Hope that helps.

I think its a part of the game. What is the game about? To become the highest level, strongest, etc.. Basically, to finish your char and your preferred job to the maximum. Getting your relic weapons and armors are just part of it. Still, your choice if you wanna complete it. Id deffinately look cool with it^^ And i sure will give it a try if i still play. But at the moment.. i have a lot to do still^^

Edit/add: Relic is to "finish" your character/job in first place. Only in second place, for the stats. I would like to have mine even if i wont use it in battle^^

For me, relic weapons are all great if you actually use weapons. The only reason I equip a weapon as a whm 95% of the time is because of the stats it gives me. So, no I wont bother with relic weapon.

The big problem with the relic club is that it's not even useful until the final two stages (Gullitani and Mjollnir). However, they seem to be the best available soloing clubs in the game. While I can't say anything about the relic WS (it probably sucks compared to hexa), Mjollnir itself (as can be viewed via any .dat file viewer) has Additional Effect: Restores MP, not to mention the highest damage of any club (almost 40% better than even the new cudgel from the ferry).

If I wasn't leveling another job now, I'd consider working on one.

Mjollnir sucks. Best club in the game? Sure. But WHMs have B rating in clubs, so it's not like we're even especially accurate with them, nor do we have particularly high ATK, which means we're still not going to be damage powerhouses even with a fully upgraded weapon.

Sure, you can solo with it, but... honestly the time and resources you'd spend getting it all the way upgraded could just as easily be spent raising a better solo job to 75 (red mage for instance).

The only relic weapons I really think are worth the time are horn, great katana, sword, shield, and maybe gun. All the rest are just really expensive show-off items for walking around in Jeuno, because you won't use them at end-game at all.

Yeah, but you can sub RDM for ENTHUDNAR!!, replace a WS .dat with Mistral Axe and pretend you're Thor.

Technically, we have a B+ with it, which is better than any other mage job has with their main weapon (we cap 6 skill points higher than a RDM). But yeah, our low attack and evasion are not particularly helpful for soloing things higher than EM. Accuracy-wise, WHM's have plenty of gear choices (especially with the Reverend Mail and +acc club), just not a lot of +atk gear choices. I tend to solo WHM/NIN with around +31 attack, and +35 accuracy.

Well, yes. It's only really worth it if you *only* ever plan on playing WHM. Frankly the same applies to all relic weapons.

Frankly, none of the relic weapons are all that special, considering most melee jobs (and even tank jobs) have non-relic weapons that are fairly close in performance. Only the hidden effects of the final upgrades are all that spectacular.
