im little confusing with sub... if im whm 19 and blm is 7.. it still will lvl blm up wiith main job?? like 50/25? or just 50/7? or i just have to lvl blm higher so whm can better?? give me some example thanks!

you have to lvl the jobs separately....
the sub is half your main job so if ya have a 30whm even though you lvled blm to 60 it would sub as a /15blm and you would have the spells of your 30whm along with spells from a 15blm....with the /blm would also come some job traits and some extra mp


if you do 30whm/10blm you are what most on the server would call "gimp" and most would tell ya to lvl your sub...

the jobs will not lvl together.....so if 30whm/10blm.....when you hit the next lvl in which the sub would go up it would remain 32whm/10blm

the sub lvls on even main lvls...so you will have 30whm/15blm > 31whm/15blm > 32whm/16blm

Ok these are the jobs you have lvled:

Whm 32
Rdm 8
Blm 18

Now lets say you sub rdm with your whm....so whm/rdm. Your lvls would be 32/8. If you gain 2 lvls you will be 34/8. Your sub does not raise. You must lvl that seperately. I advise not having a underlvled sub.

Now lets say you sub blm....so whm/blm. Your lvls would be 32/16. Even though your blm is lvl 18, your sub can not be higher than 1/2 of your main job. So 2 lvls later you'll be 34/17. You will gain only 1 lvl every 2 lvls for your main....as long as your sub is lvled that high. Now at lvl 40whm you will be 40/18, an underlvled sub. The max your sub will ever be is 37.

I think whitewolfe and I got it covered and you should be able to understand. ^^

I'm one of those people that hates leveling WHM, but I like partying with them. lionx mentioned a party with 2 RDMs... now that I'd love! Especially two RDMs who can Haste.

Maybe I'll enjoy WHM a little more once I level past the hell whole that is the Valkrum Dunes. Blasting through there as BLM wasn't so bad, but being the Cure Monkey there was horrid!

I find myself fortunate that I don't have to farm as a mage. As DRK51/THF25 I can farm pretty well. I plan to do some RDM farming in the future, but most likely not until I'm Lv.75. If I pick my spots well, I can non-stop farm as DRK. Make sure it's a zone with Crabs or Beetles and I can Drain/Aspir my HP/MP back. I can also use my 2hr to "full /heal." lol (I often think this is the only good use for DRK 2hr. Should call it Farm Weapon.) I can fairly easily farm EP mobs. I've actually gained about 3k in EXP in the past 6 weeks. I've killed some EP mobs recently as RDM with an under leveled weapon. It wasn't a close call, but it took quite a while, and I think I took and Cure'd more damage than I did to it!

But I have to say that one of the wealthiest people in my LS is a WHM! He's nearly Lv.70.

Depends. After playing all three mage jobs, I've come to the following conclusions:

1) BRD/RDM is nonessential post 64 if one mage can sub Dispel. Dispel is based on Dark magic skill but rarely ever fails nevertheless(Not Enfeebling - it raises Dark skill by 0.5 on my black mage). Refresh is nice, sure, but to be frank, killing the monsters faster works just as well. Blm Blm Blm Pld Mnk Rng pulls exactly the same exp as Blm Rdm Brd Pld Mnk Rng in Bohyada - because you kill things so ridiculously fast (100 tp, game over) that there just aren't enough enemies to go around. Wish people would stop going "Oh noooes, we must have a refresh job!" - Here's a hint - You don't need to cure as much if the enemy dies faster. You get to rest more.

All it takes is for a puller not to be hyper and pull the freaking instant the monster dies on chain #1 . A lot of people are horrible pullers because they don't understand the concept of resting between chains since they've evidently never played a MP job - when they die it's "OMGWTF you sux and didnt' cure me" and I'm all: "... you pulled when I was at 49 mp". Them: "This pt sux (warp scroll)" . This has happened more than just a few times.

2) WHM sometimes experiences RDM envy cause RDM can get off chain cure 3s faster and naspells faster than them. I found this less of a valid point because RDMs cry when they are asked to heal a galka monk/pld (god I hate this) while Whms can simply shrug and smack them with a cure 5 for over 760 hp while getting little hate (Cure 5 being faster than Cure 4 on rdm because it's fully merited + fast cast Pumps/Cure clogs.). Ask your LS to go do HNM with RDMs main curing the tanks (with Cure IV). The RDM body count will be quite funny. Whm also has better -enmity gear while RDM gets errant at best. Point being: Sometimes, Cure V is a necessity, not a luxury.

I'd like to say this though: Please please please don't think "Hey cure V is so good I'll use it as my ONLY cure!". Whms like this make me want to strangle them.

Btw, Re: the na point raised by Icemage - You can't sub for Stona, but I'd like to point out that Viruna is very subbable.

3) (more a solo point) Hexa strike beats any rdm ws. Seriously. If you think it sucks, try wearing +str and attack gear. Or sub warrior and berserk. Your damage can be fairly consistent even on EM monsters with enough external help. Spirit taker is so very good that whm is easier to farm with than rdm on some monsters. (Unlike rdm, you do not have to spend 45 seconds casting spells before/during every battle). RDM is still a better solo job for EM+ monsters, but WHM/RDM often has its perks. Another point is that Retribution, like Samurai WS, is very stat dependant and not defence/attack dependant, so if you deck yourself out in STR and MND gear, Retribution is very consistently powerful at 100%.

4) Flash - Learn to use it like Stun if you have enough -enmity to balance the hate spike it causes. Your pld or ninja tank will appreciate it.

5) Protectra - my RDM would bite heads off for protectra/shellra 4.

6) Fun level - as a personal opinion, I'd rate the fun level of the three mages like this:

Exp party:
Black mage is the most fun. It requires the least concentration, you do huge mbs, people go "ooh", Stun is the most fun spell ever, you can be evil and do the whm's job for him and make him sad.

White mage is a lot of tedium, frankly. Lather rinse repeat like a machine. Flash might actually make it more exciting - except I have a low opinion of the spell after playing around with Stun for long enough.

Red mage can be worse than whm or better. It depends how much of your freaking time is spent casting refresh/dispel/silence/"omg the whm is terrible I'd better main cure"/ "Argh why is this stupid blm playing like manaburn"

Solo: RDM is definitely the most fun, unless you're running around in the sky/sea, in which case, Black mage makes RDM look kind of sick. WHM is aggravating until you go /anon or people stop checking you and asking you for random teleports/raises. I blame Aspir/Drain not working half as well for this - and the ugly-as-sin AF hats. But you get cool WS!

I should note that my comment about Viruna was specifically in reference to the times when you actually need it for XP parties; usually sometime around level 57-60 when you're fighting Raptors in Kuftal/Teriggan/Sorrows, which isn't quite in sub range for Viruna (close, but close doesn't count for XP parties). The only other XP camp where Viruna becomes a significant issue is occasionally in King Ranperre's Tomb if you have to deal with Hati and their Rot Gas attack, and for that, you can definitely use /WHM for Viruna.

I think all jobs are pretty tedious in XP parties, but the level depends on what you prefer. Black mage is pretty passive for most of the fight until you drop big nukes, white mage is almost completely reactive but gets really busy when things get hairy, and red mage is constantly busy "filling in the holes" of the party while trying to keep the Refresh/Convert cycle going.

Cure 5 is simply a luxury, especially as most WHMs haven't the foggiest clue how to use it (i.e. waiting until your tank is almost dead to cast Cure 5 because it's "more efficient" is NOT the correct answer).

I think many whms use cure V as the "fix all" spell. They use it as the main curing spell and use it the same way over and over. Cure III and Cure IV are still very useful and can be used to keep a tank alive and healthy while saving themselves MP and not worrying about "hate" buildup.

While Cure 5 is amazingly efficient from a MP:HP ratio viewpoint, and has ridiculously low enmity rating, the fact is, it heals a BASE of around 600+HP, before modifiers like Light/Apollo/Healing Staff and Nobles/Aristocrat's Coat. That's a big chunk of life, and the mistake a lot of new WHMs make is thinking that MP efficiency is the most important thing to prioritize.

The whole point of healing someone is to keep them alive, and letting your tank (or anyone else) lose over 600 HP deliberately is just asking for someone to get turned into hamburger on a special attack.

Cure 5's best use is an emergency fix for big damage critical hits or special attacks, or on those rare occasions when you KNOW someone's going to lose a lot of HPs. I like tossing one at RDMs who warn me they're going to use Convert, and I also use it to react to big-damage attacks like Sickle Slash.

Experienced WHMs know that the best approach is to try to keep the main tank near to full HPs at all times. For ninja tanks, keeping them full or close to full is a big priority, since their defense is so low that you simply can't afford to leave them below maximum with any degree of safety. For paladin tanks, as long as they have MP to spend, I like keeping them within 250HP of maximum; if they've got MP to spare, I'll usually discuss with them and let them know I'm going to let their HPs dip a bit lower if they want to toss out a Cure 4 on themselves for enmity purposes.

In general, though, the normal approach is to use Regen III and Cure III as much as possible to keep tanks out of danger, and use Cure 5 as a reaction to large chunks of damage.

Agreed, Cure 5 is for emergency purposes for the most part. The thing that baffles me are the whms that rarely use Regen. Regen!!! Use it all the time. Enhancing was capped every lvl and mostly from Regen!

me may self is a hl whm and around level 37 and on ppl start top yell at u bc u dont pay attenchin while saving there butts from dyeing and saysing WHERE IS PROTECT and at 40 WHERE IS HASTE and on ehhh and thats y i quit whm and going to smn now hahaha
