I don't really post much in here but I felt like I had to in this case. I think the point has already been made clear. In more ways than one.

1. Tele-whoring is not a viable way of making money. So most WHMs don't do it.

2. People complain that there are no WHMs teleporting and demand to know why WHMs won't do it, saying that WHMs are being unhelpful by not offering teles.

3. WHMs try to make it a viable way of making money by raising the prices. They do this so they can offer the services in such a way that they can fund themselves at the same time.

4. People call WHMs greedy and demand they lower the price.

5. WHMs decide it's not worth their time after all and go off to do something else that's more worth the effort.

6. People call WHMs greedy and unhelpful for that and demand to know why they won't tele since it's "easy money"

7. Go back to step 1.

Do you see the point here? WHMs have done everything you suggested they do to alleviate their money problems. There are already WHMs who have decided to go find something else to do. But people are still demanding teleports. Yes the economy has inflated. Yes it affects every single action you do in this game from the way you party to how you spend your time not partying. If a WHM decides to offer the service full time so they can fullfil their needs and still offer the damned service, they're just shooting themselves in the foot if they give up something more lucrative for the piddly amounts of gil you get from 500/750 tele-whoring. When they try to make it worthwhile they get bitched out and called greedy. When they go do something else they get accused of being selfish and unhelpful.

It's a no-win situation and it's fing stupid. Leave the WHM's alone that aren't teleing. Leave the ones alone that do no matter what price they charge. Things will balance themselves out. Other WHMs will charge lower prices. People will find other means of transportation. Everyone will get what they want out of whatever they're doing. But to call WHMs greedy and selfish for trying to make a decaying and stagnant service profitable so they can actually fund their time on the game is the dumbest. thing. I've. ever. heard.

Telewhoring is already almost dead. You want to rub it out of existence completely? Be my guest. But don't blame whms for that. Blame people who are just plain being cheap and greedy with their own funds. Not that I totally blame them but that's just how it is.

yeah i get tells for tele's when I'm LFP and if a say no I get yelled at >.>. About 98% of the time if someone asks me in /tell I'll tele for free. And i don't tele taxi often because I AM DOING SOMETHING. And If i see someone charging crazy prices for tele's I go ahead and spend the next few hours tele'ing for free. /slap some whitemages not all >.>

i very rarely shout for teles. the only time i ask for a tele is when i REEEEALLY need it, and even then i'll usually outpost warp instead (i usually leave my hp in sandoria just for that purpose)

when i do ask for a tele, i usually offer around 5k, because that's what i believe tele's are worth. i mean, i can easilly farm 30k-50k an hour on my thf, and i can easilly make 50k an hour crafting if i wanted to.

when my whm gets high enough to be able to tele, i don't plan to ever tele for 500gil. 500 gil is a waste of my time. i'd rather do it for free.

A whm on my server was actually trying to offer their services while I was in Bastok and nobody needed a teleport! I thought it was pretty funny because there is usually always someone shouting for a teleport.

Lol i had the pleasure of being asked a Teleport in Windy and they go OMG YOU ARE THE ONLY OTHER WHM IN TEH DAMN CITY DAMN YOU WHMS!...and my hp was in jeuno as i was just picking something up in storage...fun huh?

Lately, WHMs have been really nice to me. I send the shout, I have no problems paying 1k for Dem, Holla and Mea. I'll then pay for 2k for Vahlz and Altepa. I have the Jungle crag key, just never have a reason to go.

But in the past week, I've found that if I Refresh before I go to trade the gil, that I get a free Teleport. I've gotten 5 free teleports in about the past 10 days. Personally I just like using Refresh, and there's a chance of Skill ups, but heck now it's saving me gil! lol

tells on Caitsith are about 2k. 5k for Vaz. And I was planing on making my money by being a tele-taxi... but after i read this, I am not so sure anymore. Thanks for the info. It really helped

Complain about teles? It may only take a few seconds to cast, warp back to Jeuno, and do it all over again. But without that tele where would we be? Riding a chocobo or footing it. I don't mind paying extra gil for a tele when it saves me an extra half hour or so of game time. As for AH prices going up, I think we can only blame that on ourselves. +1 equpment has always been way over priced.

HEHE you are funny Neelon. I really hate the greedy WHMs who say that I dont give tele's out to strangers unless they in my party. You belong to the many high lvl whm's that do that when you all hit 60's and up. Why is that? Is it a written standard to just blow off ppl needing help once you hit a certain lvl? Don't you remember when you were their lvl you too needed help getting around? WHM's absolutely suck with that kind of attitude. Thats why I see more and more ppl lvling whm just to get the tele's so they can be useful and we can forget all you greedy, stuck up, good for nothing whm's. Also about the AH prices and such, your attitude is like me saying this, if person A sells this for this much why can't I sell me services for higher too? Thats the same as this: Person A jumps off bridge, so why can't I jump too. Maybe you should think about being a leader and make a name for yourself instead of a follower and living in ppl's shadows. You are a cause of the the continuing economic problem on all servers. You should concentrate on trying to resolve this problem not be a part of it.

High AH prices are everyones fault. No need to blame one person only. It's like real life. If you want the gas in your car you are going to buy the gas. Simple as that.

im a level 42whm i used to tele taxi in jueno b4 i noticed how almost everyone i tele is a big ass to me after i tele them ive had sumone cus me out just bc i took so long when i gave them a freakn free tele now that is a big ass dont yall think

If you can't handle the general level of stupidity that infects most FFXI players, you shouldn't be offering to tele-taxi, especially if you're not going to do it in a timely manner, free ride notwithstanding.

I gave up tele-taxing a long time ago. Although I still do it from time to time, I generally find there are quicker mays to make gil. And ways that let me keep my flag up for party invites.

But when I do give a tele-taxing service, I treat it like a service. I'm ready to go with mp, quick and friendly. I sometimes even throw on a protect or shell as they leave the crag.

Like any service, you DO get return customers. I have people send me /tells at crags, request a teleport to a different crag(usually Altep). This service usually ends up with people giving me pretty good tips.

Just remember the 2 most important 'F' words in service. Fast and friendly.

This phenomenon is becoming way too common. Had to convince a friend on another forum to pay more attention to his posts. I told him I refused the read or reply to his posts, because reading them was just too hard.

Having just hit WHM42 on my new character, I've been doing some teletaxi-ing, and compared to the last time I did it (about seven/eight months ago), it actually sucks worse now.

Prices are higher generally, yes, but quite a few people apparently find this incredibly annoying. If I pick someone up randomly, that is they aren't responding to my shout in which my prices are detailed, I let them pay whatever they choose. Since I'm not actually setting a price in that situation, I don't mind if someone pays 500gil, and mostly I get paid 1000gil. But to see a 75 player shout for a port and then not pay at all is pretty frustrating. I always port quickly, usually one person at a time unless I'm flooded with /tells, because waiting around to gather a full party seems pretty rude, especially if I'm just inviting people who shout. So you can't fault my service. I guess some people assume that if one WHM offers free ports, all WHMs must offer the same.

I generally don't mind porting, but bad experiences recently have pushed me to the point that I'll only point if the portee knows there will be a fee involved, even as little as 500gil. Some people are downright rude when I open up a trade request. I don't like to be pushy, but so many people (mostly higher levels, sadly) just run off when you arrive without so much as a {Thank you.} that I almost feel the need to initiate the trade, to make teleporting worth while.

I really don't understand why people think that tele prices shouldn't go up. Everything else has. I don't see anyone else selling their money makers for the prices they sold for two years ago.

Having quit playing for nearly two years, and seeing my 4mil worth of gear turn into 30mil worth in that time...

I asked for my first tele since returning to ffxi the other day. After joining, I asked the whm what a fair price was, since I had been out of the loop for a while. "1k" came the reply. What?!. I can run outside any starter city with a thf sub, pop a few bees with crossbow bolts, and make 2-3x that in beechips in literally no time at all. "That's messed up" I said to him, and tossed 5k in his trade window.

It doesn't matter how easy it is for them to port me to a spire and warp back. You act as if targeting low level mobs and turning autoattack on, or buying things off ah, synthing, and reselling is a ton more involved. For the most part, making money for anyone in this game is not hard, it is just tedious. The important thing was not the time he invested, it was the time -I- saved. It was well worth 5k to me to spare me 25 minutes of running.

The price of a tele staying static while everything else inflates is just silly. When I played 2 years ago, I, and alot of others made gil off of repeatable quests. Tiger fangs, quadav helms. How many people do you see doing those quests- that still offer the same gil rewards- when everything else is 10x the price? Exactly, it's a huge, stupid, waste of time to do so.

I don't see whm's charging a few k per tele as being greedy at all. At 1k a pop on my server right now, a whm would have to run 900 ports to afford erase. Yet if every whm went to other , better money makers, everyone would complain like hell that they couldn't get ports to save them valuable time.

I'm not pro whm, I have no whm friends to defend, but I was born with common sense. I really hope the whm's wise up and start charging more or don't port. And if that bothers you, I'd have to say that it is you being stingy, not someone else being greedy. Even 3k is pocket change these days. And of course, you could always walk or level whm yourself. But that would just suck horribly, wouldn't it?
