IHMO when you throw away all the bravado, fictious economic consequences and generally heated opinions people don't want WHMs to raise the price because it hurts their pockets. I defy anybody rational person to say they don't care that it costs them more gil. If this was not true I guarantee nobody would be wasting there time here debating it.

Well unless you haven't read anything in this thread you should be able to join the dots and realise that from the WHMs perspective simply PROVIDING teleports hurts OUR pockets!

It is hypocritical for people to expect WHMs to provide cheap teleport when the very reason they complain is the very same reason we don't provide them.

I don't charge more than 500 gil for teleports to places like the Crag of Mea or Crag of Dem. Generally, I don't really set a price. I just tell them to pay me whatever they're comfortable with and usually I get 400 gil or 500 gil.

If I tele to someplace like Vahzl, I get maybe 1k or so. I encounter those people that aren't ready for tele, but in the meantime, I tele those people that are ready and just tele that person whenever. It is kind of difficult for us WHM to farm and I can see why some WHM charge what seems to be insane prices. I'd never charge that much, however. I guess that's why i'm such a poor WHM...

What kinda sucks is that they made Teleport Rings. They are barely sold in my server, last time I checked that is. But why is SE going to make those rings. Just going to make it harder for you white mages to make money .

Making money isn't as hard as people make it out to be. As in real life, some people know how to earn it, and others don't know how to spend wisely.

Wass I a poor WHM at one time? Of course. Did I ever let that stop me from earning what I needed to buy what I felt was necessary gear? Nope.

There's TONS of ways to make money in this game. If you're only pulling in 15K an hour beyond level 40 these daysyou aren't trying hard enough.

Mining. Fishing. Farming bees/coeurls/goobues/whatever. Learn a craft and stick with it. ENMs. BCNMs. Gardening.

Every one of the above activities makes more money than being a tele-taxi.

I don't see tele-taxi as the main income source for Whm. I myself while waiting for PTs I see shouts for teleport and sometimes I do port them just to kill time. The reward are just an extra gil gained while I have no interest of going out doing anything else. Of course every Whm thinks differently but I think they all share similar thoughts: tele-taxi can't be their main income.

Lots of times I'm working on my college projects and I log in just to chit chat, that's when I telel taxi people  Because I don't feel like going out to *really* make money...

Anyway, I still see shouts offering teleports for 300-400 on Titan, mostly Japanese.

I'm glad they made teleport rings, people in a hurry to go and need to go now have a means to do so without having to wait for available whms. If money is no problem, but time is a factor, say Teleport-Vhazl is needed because server maintenence just finished and you want to go for Shadow NM or Capricious Cassie, those people are the ones that will pay 3-5k for tele, before the rings, because TIME is a factor for millions of gil. Even though JP won't be earning gil, they still use rings, for time and efficiency, so they can help LS from wiping out while they're holding an NM. They're not going to squabble over a piddly 1-2k gil when there's more important things for them to do.

Rings = people having option of not having to deal with people. You cheap asses wanting the price to stay at 500g, saying we're greedy and selfish/unhelpful, go farm 25k and buy a ring and stop making things unpleasant for people playing a GAME. Don't know why that 71blm was complaining, go level your blm and teleport yourself and everyone, since your time is "free" and teleporting takes no time. Save us whms a few headaches. You could go help newcomers get skulls and help everyone get AF coffer keys while you're at it. Go power level people too and raise people in quifm. You have the means as a lv72 blm, why aren't you ragging on all the high level blms?

And the price of whms teleporting will go up eventually due to demand and economics. You can argue all you want about WANTING it to stay down, and you can dream all you want, try to guilt all the whms you want, but it will go up. WHMs don't have to do anything, it's from the shouts i see from people who want the teleports. They're the ones shouting 1k for teleport-mea, 2k dem, when there's no one around. Well, I was around, but I didn't teleport them. >_>

I hate the time and lag it takes from zoning... twice. 1k might be worth it, but 500g... if I teleported MYSELF for 4mins threw a banish on the wind elemental, that's 3k right there. That takes 2mins during the time there are no whms teleporting. (No competition). Teleport-Vhazl, dark element weather, boom, 6k per 8mins. That is the lovely thing about WHM, we get teleports to use ourselves.
                I am still a noob. T_T

I agree with Icemage 100% on this. Tele taxi service is pretty weak when it comes to raising money- as a main source of income. We WHMs shouldnt rely on that at all. I rarely ever teleport anyone outside of my LS when we go to a lvling spot. If I see a shout and am heading out, then sure i'll do it then. Every now and then a really high offer will catch my attention too. But overall, I can make a lot more gil doing other things that teleporting people around. All of us can.

Even as a supplementary source of income or a timekilling activity, running a teletaxi is pretty poor. Consider that eating a Teleport-Mea scroll is burning over 100k depending on your server prices. A new, level one character fishing moat carp can make money faster with an investment of less than 5k on equipment, so as a level 36 character, why would I accept less gil/time for providing a valuable service after sinking hundreds of thousands of gil into buying/not selling the scrolls?

On Lakshmi, 500/1000/1500 has been the standard for a long time. In my opinion, if you're running a service for those prices you might as well be doing it for free. Pure altruism is the only reason to do it, and it's a largely thankless activity.

unless im in a pinch or unless a party invited me to replace someone, say in quicksands perhaps, i wont buy a tele, its stupid... if i was a whm i'd still sell teleports for 400gil, i'd probably get the most clients that way, actually, while everyone is shouting their prices, why dont you go ahead and shout for half his price? youl get all the clients that way

Ya good luck with that! You'll get sick of it pretty darn quick.

People that don't have the ability to tele always come up with stuff like this. As I said earlier in this thread, I've had people say how I was getting rich off tele's and then make a whm themselves. They did it for a while and then it got old real fast.

That example doesnt cut it, thats like going AFK and still getting money and you can AFFORD to get that small 1z cut. Over here where items are regulated easier and that you actually HAVE to be here to do it...makes it a painful and unworthwhile chore to do for gil.

Interesting development on Midgardsormr: While there are still occasional shouts for 500 gil teleports, those are incredibly rare. The vast majority of people now offer 700-800+ for basic (Mea/Dem/Holla) teleports, and this is shifting towards 1000. I'm also seeing Yhoat rise to 1000-1500 average, and I saw a shout for a 3K Vahzl last night.

Arguing about whether prices should increase is pointless - the market is adjusting on its own, whatever the people here may say, and that's exactly as it should be.
