I just recent got Erase from the BC 40 and i was wondering what status effect is best to use against? And what member of the PT if they get effected on? I mean things like VIT down...should i Erase that? How about Acc Down from bats?

most noticable things to erase:
vit down
spider's slow
binds (on hnm kiting)
frosts from Fomor/liches
i probably missed a few things, but most stuff like eva/atk down and bubble shower aren't erased because the bats spam them.

stuff to look for before casting erase or poisona
Nin tank: spider slow (haste overrides crawler slow), evasion down, Frost, defense down
DD: Spoil, Drown, Accuracy down, attack down. (I don't undo spider slow because spiders usually spam it anyway; and STR down from crabs isn't erased because of the same problem. Erase got a 15 second recast and I got enough on my mind.) you can avoid spoil by not standing directly in front of a beetle.
all Melee: any dot that causes a lot of dmg per tick. any dot effect from a BLM type mob or from a mob that has potential to use AOE sleep will not be erased until the end of the fight, in case the blm type mob decides to crank out a sleepga. DOT from Formors must, however - usually starting with the tank and then moving to the mages last. (Stoneskin will eat up the DOT effects, so it does help to have a SMN that can use Earthen Ward at all times for the Formors.) If the DOT comes from any other mob, the decision to erase it depends on what type it is and what it was used on. Shock and Burn are generally ignored for melee. Absorb- spells from DRK type mobs also depends on what they used. for the most part, Regen will counteract the effects of DOT. Great Bleat (reduces total HP to 1/4) must be Erased promptly, starting with the tank first. (Great Bleat that hits a mage is different, though - mind break is a different story however.)
PLD: Choke (except in case where the mob has the potential to use AOE sleep spell/ability), defense down, evasion down, spider slow, dia. if they want erase for anything else, they must wait til the fight is over.
Mages: If they can use stoneskin they should have it up at all times if possible. only burn and shock will be erased during a fight, along with any formor dot. If a mage can use erase and has it available, i leave that duty to them to erase themselves. Mind Break must be erased promptly.
BRD/BST: CHR down effects. this doesn't happen very happen though and it most likely comes from DRK type mobs, which you won't see much of in the first place.
some of the negative status effects come from a handful of mobs, and others will be spammed a lot from the mobs you do come across. use your best judgement when casting erase in a fight, the last thing you want is a mob to pull off a nasty special while you're in the middle of casting Erase and it kills the tank in the process. if the dot effect is not that potent and its on someone that isn't tanking, my suggestion is let it go til the end of the fight. any status down effect that is essentially useless to someone in the first place should be ignored anyway unless it results in a massive DOT for that person.
other notes about status effects removed by spells other than erase:
disease should only be cured if it hit a mage or a pld. if you're doing raptors or hounds wait til the end of the fight, though. the other melee can just live with it, since viruna is 50 MP and has a lenghty cooldown timer.
poisona depends on how potent the poison is. if it does just 1 dmg per tick, wait til the end of fight; if it does a lot it should be poisona promptly. the exception is if you are fighting a mob that has potential to use sleepga or aoe sleep ability - where that poisona must wait til the end of the fight. for some mobs, it might be better if everyone made an small investment in antidotes - and antidotes are cheap.
pertification from antica won't last long enough. from rams, lizards, and cockatrices - everyone but the tank should be behind the mob if at all possible - so when the mob does use it, only the tank is affected. if you don't have stona, the tank should turn its back from the mob at the time it readies Baleful Gaze. mages should be facing away from the mob at all times.
curse totally depends on the situation and potency. it must be promptly removed from the tank. curse from ghosts for some reason is not as potent as curse from the sandy dragon or from beadeau afflictors. sometimes its just better to have everyone to make a small investment in holy water.Dig A10; Main: Bonecraft 100+3/subs: 60/Fishing 59.7

Enemies I've seen that use Plague:
Certain Empty in Promyvion (you don't have access to Viruna in Promyvion-Mea/Dem/Holla, but you do have it in Promyvion-Vahzl).
Buffalo-type enemies.
Ultima.
Tiamat.
Note that the status message for Plague is different. The chat log says "XXXX is plagued." or "XXXX gains the effect of Plague".
