Offensively i would go with an earth staff tp to 100%, shell breaker, then switch to your club of slow death.
didn't think of that, will try ^^

I levelled nin to 75 so my solo WHM build isnt as important, I sold off the dodge cape.

On the other hand, I have an evasion torque, elusive earrings etc. from my nin.

I think now my whm solo gear would look like:

      Darksteel Maul
      Genbus Shield ( +10 evasion and -10% physical )
      Optical Hat
      Evasion Torque/Peacock charm
      2x Elusive Earrings
      AF Body or Nobles tunic
      Blessed Mitts
      2xSnipers
      Dodge Cape
      Lifebelt or Survival Belt
      Blessed Trousers
      Blessed Boots.

As it turns out, I have this gear already ( would only have to rebuy a dodge cape ).

Back then my highlight was solo'ing Habetrot, the Feiyin shadows and coffer mobs.

Don't forget you can use JSE earring and ring if your HP gets low :-]

Now I would aim slightly higher ^_^
With whm merits you can increase cure speed and paired with macro'd cure clogs you could definately increase your solo capacity in that respect.

Using a Battle Staff+1 as whm in king ranps I out DD'd a paladin, with my equipment that I can transfer from my ninja I am sure with a DS maul or the new latent one, I could do a whole lot more.

Icemage - you are wrong, WHM is far far far above a bards solo capacity.

Most people dont have the capacity to get 2 jobs to 75, so I would encourage all 75 whms out there to try out and see what you can do.

Here is one of my favourite WHM DD moments ( and I forgot to zerk and warcry ; ; )

      55% Skill
      35% Equipment
      10% Race

In terms of raw killing power, a WHM with a darksteel maul is lower than a bard using Joyeuse, not counting the effect of songs. Defensively, WHM is definitely superior as far as gear and magic goes, but bards also have the ability to opt out of fights with Lullaby if things go wrong, and have a variety of interesting tricks they can use; laugh if you want but a BRD75/BST37 will outfarm a WHM75/NIN37 in most situations where you're farming enemies that are too weak to be worthwhile, plus they can farm faster using Mazurka, as well as suffer less downtime due to Ballad and Paeon . Farming monsters isn't just about how much damage you deal - it's how fast you can get to the monsters, how efficiently you can deal with them, and how quickly you can recuperate afterwards.

Granted, WHM75/NIN37 can definitely take on some interesting enemies, certainly quite a few levels higher than otherwise possible with other subs, but when the day is done, you're still looking at more time and energy spent to kill most enemies than pretty much any other job. Nevertheless, whether you argue the point of whether bards are better or worse, it doesn't take away the fact that WHM damage is just awful. There's no other word for it. Hexa Strike makes it almost bearable - I've done around 900 with Sneak Attack/Hexa on skeletons, and my best so far is a 1379 damage Sneak Attack + 300%TP Full Swing with a Kirin's Pole. But that still pales in comparison to what any melee job with a NIN subjob can deal, when talking about solo situations.

Now, if you want to argue points about duo or trio farming, that's a completely different discussion.

For what it's worth, the best farming partner I've tried for WHM is RDM/NIN. They're nearly untouchable as long as they have a way to deal with status attacks, and with the bonus of someone else to refresh and keep them healthy, you can take down some amazingly tough enemies with barely a scratch.

Interesting note: Macroing cure clogs is a bad idea. They're one of the few pieces of gear that is basically all-or-nothing, since you lose a split second of time when changing gears in a macro. I tried it for a while after I got mine, but it just wasn't worth it - the difference in cure speed is barely detectable on anything lower than Cure IV or Curaga II, and that's with 3 levels of cure speed merits under my belt to augment (-27% cure cast time total).

I personally couldnt care less about running between too weak monsters because thats a different ballgame.
brd sword skill is gimped, and you dont get haste, large amounts of cures, etc. the whole point of this kind of setup is aimed at something more than yagudo acolytes, bards can barely solo higher than EP.

Highest I solo'd was a tough skeleton in king ranps. Love to see a bard try that.

I only ever usd whm/nin for NMs or coffer keys, and I think thats what most people here are interested in.
I dislike it a lot when these type of threads turn into a discussion of the negative aspects, WHM/NIN can do some awesome things, so please dont bash it.

I completely agree Gryff, WHM solo ability is far greater then people think. With the proper skill and equipment, a WHM can out-perform many jobs in solo, as crazy as this may sound. I can solo coffer mobs pretty efficiently, when helping my friends with coffer keys, it's cool seeing someone say "wow, didn't know you could solo that".

It puts a big grin on my face. I agree the fact that brds can solo just as well as WHM, but not any better at all, a joyeuse is an extremly good weapon, but with the low sword skill that brds have, it just isn't as efficient as another job using that sword.

Sorry about my poor english, just stating some of my opinions. :spin:
