  • /psyche for AF3

    Hey fellow whms,

In another lvl, I can finally wear my AF3- which I have yet to get. I've read alot about the fight, however I was wondering what with the raised lvl cap these days, if its really as hard as some say. What do those of you who've done it think?

Nah, it's not at hard as some say it is. Shall we say two-party alliance of 60's, full party of 65+ are capable of beating it?

Get a 75 ninja and duo it lol.

Just be sure to keep him hasted...

      but seriously...

lvl 60 needs 18 man alliance
      65 ~~ 12
      70 ~~~ 12 (maybe 6 but recommended is 12)
      75 ~~~ 6~9

Was a while ago I did this now but I seem to remember we had about 16 people ranging for 55-75 and it went pretty smooth.

It was good to have 3 WHMs as we was never in any danger of runnign out of MP.

WHM AF3 is tough, but not as hard as it used to be, as there are a lot more 70+ players around who can lend a hand. Of course, getting those players to spend time helping you is another issue...

Party configurations posted above look correct to me. One well-constructed party of 75s can beat the NM without even breaking a sweat.

Just thought I should post the party setup we had - I did WHM AF3 with a party of six people, all ranging from 65-70 except for me, (at the time) a WHM57. I think we were WHM WHM WAR MNK RNG. MNK71 tanked it and the rest beat at it or healed until it died.

I remember helping someone in the LS with it a few weeks ago, it was a party of four people...

              MNK75/NIN37
              MNK71/DRK35
              WHM58/BLM29
              RDM62/BLM31

Honestly, before we started the fight, I didn't think that we were going to come out sucessful. However, the MNK/NIN more or less tanked the entire fight, with him spamming Asuran Fists with the other MNK, but he kept the hate by doing more damage and blink-tanking with Ichi and Ni... the WHM and I were simply there to haste them both, and debuff it. I haven't been able to successfully Silence the AF3 mob, even with ES+Silence / +24MND / Capped Enfeebling D:<

Very easy fight though; however, near the end the other MNK took some hate and ate a DD for a lot of damage... thankfully we finished it off after

WHM AF3 isn't too bad.... a good NIN tank and it shouldn't be a problem at all. And to make it easier: look for someone doing RDM AF3.

I got my WHM AF3 done one afternoon when I happened to see a shout for help on RDM AF3... they needed WHM's (they had 3 RDM's and were trying to build an alliance for RDM AF3.. but had only 1 WHM... I got them to agree to do WHM AF3 while in Fei'Yin which got them me and another WHM to help in the tele-shuttle).

Look for a RDM AF3 alliance which will be vastly overpowered for WHM AF3. (RDM AF3 is two NM's: the fei'yin one is probably about the same difficulty as the NM for WHM AF3... the second NM in Garlaige for RDM AF3 is much harder, so they will almost certainly want an alliance).

I actually found it easier to get AF3 done than it was to get people to open doors with me in Garlaige for my coffer there.

If what you say is true, some of the above party setups for whm af3 are ridiculous. I have no experience with the WHM af3 myself so I cant comment, but what I have done was the RDM af3, and it was EASY. I will post our pt configuration for both parts of the RDM af3 quest:

Miser Murphy (NM ghost-type in fei'yin)

                  60 RDM (me)
                  58 RDM
                  70+ NIN (was anon)
                  71 WHM
                  65 WHM
                  63 THF
                  61 WAR/NIN
                  60 BLM

After this the 65 whm and 63 thf left the pt, leaving us with 6 people for the Guardian Statue fight.

                  60 RDM (me)
                  58 RDM
                  70+NIN
                  71 WHM
                  61 WAR/NIN
                  60 BLM

Nin tanked it, barely got hit, we stood out of AOE range. Had to do it twice, and both times went flawlessly. I even built up 300tp spirits within for the 2nd one (on bats and skellies before popping NM)

If the above PT can beat Guardian Statue easily, does that mean some of the alliances listed in the first few posts were overkill? Makes me think so.

WHM AF3 NM is harder than the Guardian Statue for RDM AF3 in some respects. The only real danger with the statue is making sure mages aren't in AoE range.

WHM AF3 NM is almost guaranteed to insta-kill any non-tank below level 65 who grabs hate and doesn't blink away the incoming Dimensional Death.

A ninja tank, or level 74+ /NIN tank makes both fights much easier, since all of the big damage hits can be easily blinked away.
