  • Effects of Healing Magic Skill...just what the hell does it do?

I've been pondering lately about just what exactly Healing Magic skill does.

Common knowledge tells us it will help increase Cure potency. Well, Cures pretty much cap out anyways, so getting 33 HP from a Cure 1 is...whoopee...

Like elemental magic skill, I would assume that this skill helps us get less resists when we use Cures on undead mobs. However I have not tested this, but it seems logical enough for me. I haven't exp'd in Ranperres tomb in a long time to try it.

So...anyone have any ideas as to when our A+ skill comes into play?

One of the most important (and most often overlooked) factors of increased magic skill is lower chance of interruption. This is relly easy to see if you have a job that you can go farm with. This is how RDMs are able to keep buffed when soloing, and how Ninjas don't die (usually...) in exp parties if blink goes down for some reason.

As far as I know, Cure V has no cap. So the higher healing magic skill you have, the more powerful and MP efficient Cure V becomes. Making Cures I-IV icky, mp-per-hp-healed-wise.

        That is great information Mithrael...
So each magic skill level relates to decreased interruption rate when casting spells in that category.

For us whm's, it means we will rarely ever be interrupted when casting a Cure spell or a divine magic spell. Nice to know.

and yes I have seen cure V heal for a ton...near 800 with healing staff + nobles tunic + lightday. will be interesting to see how much it does with capped skill Vs. capped skill + healing torque and other healing+ items. I will test this asap.

After getting my errant gear at 72 I saw my cure v go from 685 to 716 with all that nice +mnd. On light day I remember hitting 760+ which is nice eye candy but practical uses are small. Trying to fit that entire thing in a tank is hard enough already (harder since by that point pld is usually panicing and throwing cure IV on himself). As for my other cures I haven't seen any change as my skill went up (maybe 1-2 points at best). Beyond interruption rate I don't see healing skill doing much.
