  • Farming as Whm

OK, Im a fairly low lvl WHM(15 as of RIGHT now) Does anyone know(from experience) the best way to farm(or make money some other way)as a whm? I need to know about right now at low lvl's and for future reference at higher lvl's. This will help me and alot of other low lvl whm's trying to buy spells.

Try going to Sarutabaruta and killing crawlers for silks, that should be decent if you're willing to spend the time on it.

Either you like fishing or you don't. If you do like it, it can be very profitable once you have invested a lot of time into it. At level 79 fishing, I can out-earn virtually every other person in my LS (most of whom are/have been level 75 for months) in terms of pure cash in hand - to the tune of 25-40K gil per hour spent.

I'll also mention that I've spent well over 800 hours on fishing at this point, and the first half of that period produced very little in terms of monetary returns. Still, fishing is a pretty good match for WHM, since we have a few natural advantages (ability to cast Sneak, Invisible, Teleports), which can make getting to fishing spots and surviving in hostile environments much easier.

Comming from a Whm this might help learn how much money can be made from harveesting! I can harvest about 100k in an hour, not bad! I do have the lvl 15 gear that help with the sickle breaking but i just made a mithra mule, shes a lvl 20thf/mnk and nothing agros her in west Sarutabaruta. On shiva red moko grass is selling for about 30k a stack, fresh mugwort while a rare drop sells for 150-200k, saruta cotton is about 15k a stack, and everything else just adds up over time. While you dont need a mule its nice for the extra ah slots, and a mule from Windy and use the outpost if under Wind control to sell off the junk so you dont have to run all the way back to Windy to make room in your inventory.

... this thread is over a year old. Not only has the economy changed a lot in the mean time, but I challenge the assertion that you can make 100K/hr consistently at harvesting.

So what if its over a year old people still need to know an easy way to make money. And as far as not making 100k an hour go try it! You have to be aware of peak times and dont do it then. Other wise I'm almost always alone when I harvest so its very easy to reap big profits.

ok farming as a whm is truly a nightmare everything is slow, it gets boring after a few days lol. Well I prefer being a whm farming then a bard. I find a good way to make money for a whm is to use their job, like tele taxi for example, people shout for teleports sometimes offering money so perhaps you use that cue to teleport them and get some gil. You could also PL for gil however I find it way too long and boring so thats a rare scenario for me. I PL friends for free because they always help me out

There is always the option of you crafting like Gold smithing, Black smithing, Wood working, Fishing, Cloth crafting, Cooking and etc. It can be expensive as you skill up however you can always hunt your own items for a less expense but I suggest you to build up your lvl before you attempt to get to a high lvl in one of these activities.

IMO, I prefer to do a mixture of tele taxi and easy farming will do the trick. But as being a whm it may be very boring since it's slow thats why I prefer to switch to one activity to the other. If I get bored of tele taxi then I'll go farm and vice-versa. Good luck with getting your gil making needs finished.

                xoxo

If you take the time to level Cloth to the high teens, low twenties, its more than possible. More if you take cloth higher.

I pull just under 100k an hour without any synths. Mugwort sells for 20k a single. Flax is turned into thread and sold by the stack. Cotton and Moko are turned into shinobi-tabi, and Red Moko is sold as cloth by the stack. The red moko alone goes for 350-400k a stack. Shinobi-tabi are going for 20-25k a stack. Whatever I have left goes to leveling clothcrafting.

I usually harvest mid-day US, when its slow out there. Even when the odds are against me (new moon, darksday, w/e affects it) I still pull at least 400k for four hours of harvesting.

You're not making all the money from harvesting - you're making quite a bit of the money from Clothcrafting. The raw value of the materials you get from harvesting does not come anywhere near 100K/hr. 20-30K/hr is more realistic for the harvesting.

Icemage continues to repartee with well backed points! As he is known for.I think y'all are beaten. I wouldn't go up against him; he knows what he's talking about.

My experience with WHM is; there is no way around it. You simply take the good with the bad and get on with life. 'Nuff said.

                        The Mithra was slayed,

^ ga them and you can virtualy kill hundreds with one stone ^^.

Anyways farming crawlers will get you atleast a stack of silk in an hour and thats 50k on fairy.

Personaly what im doing ATM is synthing flax in to linen thread then selling it, and you can get it from 220g from an npc, aslong as the moon is in the proper position i can make 17k profit a stack and lvl my clothcraft at the same time.

my farming thing of choice is digging. you have to be level 20 with chocobo license to make it viable, but you can buy multiple stacks of ghysal greens from vendor and dig outside one of the cities. the results you get at first will suck, but as you level your digging skill to A45 or better the results will improve and every now and then you'll get a good dig or two to keep you going. i suggest leveling woodworking if you dig outside sandy to turn the non-stackable logs into lumber to sell for a profit.
