  • elvaan WHM/SMN?

I was wondering if a elvaan WHM/SMN would work because i will need to levle my sub (WHM) for my SMN. ( i am getting WAR to 30 to be PLD and NIN [tank])

What would i need to be a good WHM? more MP? more MND? (elvaan have most mnd in this game) As for the MP. I might be able to get a astral ring or 2

    that is all

Well, I would sub BLM from 40, and start subbing SMN once you hit 50. As far as equipment goes, MP gear. MND effects uncapped cures and effects of enfeebles, and I didn't enfeeble much if at all after RDM learned Dia2. MP gear is what you need, and for food you'll want Roast Mushrooms or Witchkabobs or Chocolate. Pies are alright if you can't spare the girl (for MP recovery and some MP)

If you can't fill a slot with MP gear, you can always look for the nice looking stuff, or MND gear although MND gear is low priority.

what i was going to do was sub SMN to 33 then get full RSE and then sub BLM (warp [after level 34] when I use Tele and warp when i am far away) and back to SMN at 50 (auto-refresh) and bring instant warps/have BLM to warp me

And, should i get the Seer's +1 or regular seer's? the +1 affect the refresh or no? i forgot >.<

Or is a Elvaan WHM not good? ive been in 1 party with an Elvaan WHM/SMN. he did good. I was level 32 at that time he was 33 And he had full RSE, all MP+ gear. he had more MP than my taru RDM/SMN (380MP and 380 HP) which i thought was kind of wierd.

Do i need Shell/Protect? or only Protectra /shellra stuff? i had both for my Taru WHM.... and i was very poor. do i need the -na spells? (blindna, cursena, etc...)

I stopped playing WHM a week or so before the Seer's gear was released. ><

The Seer's Tunic and Seer's Tunic+1 have same MP while healing, but as far as I know WHM can wear Seer's Tunic+1 until AF (I don't how if 6 more MP is more important than +1MP while healing, but our body gives -4 Enmity)

As far as race goes, in my eyes the only 'not good' WHM is one without MP gear and an updated spell book (however, you probably won't need cure3 until low 30s if you spam Regen)

When I hit level 27, Protect2 was more expensive than Protectra2, and I only used Protect2 when PLing people. Erase would be low priority, but I have had to use Poisona and Blindna quite a bit. Stona if you fight Anticans in Quicksand caves. Cursna and Viruna I didn't use while exping.

If don't do it if you're a male elvaan, or you'll cringe everytime you summon when you level your subjob ;p

This is a good question really. MP+ items are really needed, even with the SMN sub. However MND+ gear will help make your Cures more effective.

Now keep in mind I'm an Elvaan RDM. Once I got my RSE I really focused on my MND+ & INT+ gear. With full RSE, misc gear, and Pies, I think I'm at about MP+130. And it's plenty of MP for a RDM. I also bring juice for myself as well. I know that helps, but as Elvaan I learned how to conserve and manage my MP long ago.

I've only leveled WHM to Lv.8, so I can't really comment on this, however I would suggest eating pies, instead of Witch Kabobs. Go with Melon(MP+25), Pumpkin(MP+40), or Rolanberry(MP+50) pies. Witch Kabobs give MP+15 MND+4 and MP Healing +3. (Not 100% but I'm pretty sure that's about it.) The MND+4 helps, and the Healing +3 helps as well. But wouldn't you get more millage out of MP+40? As an Elvaan RDM I've never used Witch Kabobs.

                          Yeah that might've been me. ^^ /wave.
Well I think I've seen THREE Hume WHMs that had more MP than me in one year of playing. >.> It all comes down to equipment eventually. If I ever play it to 75 and bother getting full Zenith, I'll have about 1100 MP /gulp.

I'd rather use the Witch Kabobs (or when leveling lower jobs, use the cheaper Roast Mushroom (still not cheap, but at least somewhat cheaper). +3 hMP is much more imortant than +40 mp (its only a 25 mp difference, the difference of one astral ring). +3 hMP will help every time you have to rest, while the +40mp will only help if you've managed to rest until full after every fight, which will almost never happen. Most mages I know don't dip below 20-30% of their total MP during normal exping, so the +40 mp there means very little. I find that +hMP is basically the #1 stat a WHM should be looking to maximize. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, for your wallet, anyways), there are very few items that give this. Basically, you're limited to a few random CP items, Dark Staff, and food. If you choose /rdm, you can use the latent effect earring, but you lose out on the benefits of /smn and /blm.

If you really want the +mp, don't care about the +mnd, and you want the +hMP, go for Apple/Melon Pie +1. They give +4/5 int, +30/35 mp, and +2/2(?) hMP respectively (The Melon Pie +1 may give +3 hMP, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it as the same, which is why I don't spend the extra 10k per stack on Melon pie).

Current Gil total spent on gear:
                            3,235,000
                            Current Gil Value of gear:
                            1,151,000

Count me in the pro-hMP camp as well. I've been using +hMP food exclusively for a long time, and honestly wish I would have started sooner.

You don't have to break the bank to get it either. If the 10K+ price tag on a stack of HQ pies is too rich for your taste, check out goblin chocolate. It's easily made by any halfway competent (~30 cooking) chef, and offers the same +2 mp recovery per resting tick that the more expensive HQ foods do. Typical AH price for goblin chocolate on Midgardsormr floats somewhere around 2-3K per stack, very reasonable.

This isn't to say that you shouldn't use +MP gear, because that's always useful. But overall, I think +hMP food and gear outshines +MP gear to a large extent.
