  • Down Time

This came into my mind when the PLD of our pt had to leave and we got a new tank. we were getting little xp most at 67 maybe hit 117 xp at most but just pulling stuff to keep xp coming, well anyways there really wasnt any down time cause them being T and VT so it didnt take any MP to really heal, anways after the PLD leaves we get a WAR to tank he didnt like the way we were doing things so we head to the beach to kill snippers there maybe chain them for more xp,alass he didnt like that idea either so we pull a Fly the first one went ok but to much rest time, after that he starts acting like a asshole saying we suck as a pt,when frankly hes a bad tank, well 2nd Fly pull and me and the thf decide to try and kill him(we didnt discuss this it just happened) but the Fly was a little too hard so we pulled away from that and me and the WAR ended up dieing but anyways the reason for this is would you rather get little XP at a faster rate with little down time and at a constent flow or would you rather take something for 200 xp but have to rest till everyone recovers. i just wanna get ppls perspective of this.

If this was at the dunes, there's this level between snippers and Flies that you just have to suffer through, either by risking death pullling flies or grinding out the level on mediocre exp with little chance of death.

In your particular situation, I would've preferred to just pull Ts and VTs cause you never know when an IT will be too IT. that's when you have to take your party composition and level into consideration.

That being said, I'd have choosen medicore exp. Only because death is a bummer and nothing produces more downtime than death. Its not the exp loss, its waiting on the person to get back to the party if he/she releases to their homepoint or waiting on raise sickness. After the tank and damage dealers level, flies would have been less riskier.

Its an interesting question. I like to play it safe and I have only been killed about a handful of times throughout my second reroll past genkai 1.

      VT vs IT
I'd choose VT anytime, hands down.

Less down time is the reason, faster chains. Low exp, but more times, gives a positive balance at the end of the day.

        I agree.

I was in a party last night with a whiney melee complaining the mobs won't be IT. Well after he nearly burst into tears we moved camp adn got 1K EXP in about 1.5 hours.

        I left that party.

at that level, the only high ITs you can really take are worms. they just die so quickly...especially if you have a rng. even if you have to pull T and VT, i'd say do that instead for much, much less downtime because in the end, you'll get more exp.

yes, rangers rule...especially at that level if they use xbow + acid bolts. when i leveled rng in the dunes, i was getting 1 level every 45 minutes in a good party...got outta there in a day, thank god

Yeah, there are times were going for the ITs is not the best. Just weigh the good and bad on each fight, would you preffer a battle lasting 30-50 sec. getting 100 exp and no down time or a battle lasting 1 min. getting 200 exp and 3-5min. down time.

Ends up being 6k Exp/Hr vs. 3k Exp/Hr not rocket science but for those whiney players it sure seems like it is -.-

little thing i heard back when i didnt even play yet:

it's not how much exp you get a kill, its how much exp you get an hour

go for lots of T's Vt's for chain, youll get more exp, plus itl be more enjoyable. killing an IT will only work for exp once you get into qufim, so ive witnessed.
