trying to lvl my enhancing skill

Hey all

At lvl 52, my enhancing skill is 133 (which is probably quite low) So Ive decided to spend time trying to raise it. HA! what a joke. After pumping 1800+ MP into buffing other people randomly @ crawlers nest (haste, protect, shell etc) I didnt get even a +.1. Ive also tried recasting spells on just me, also similar results. Maybe a few.1 and .2's. Then Im on the airship and for shits n grins I cast a single bar spell on myself. BLAM! +.3 what the heck? Anyone have a decent way to do this? Im about ready to just screw trying to lvl it and just have it go as i do. bleh :dead:

Don't even bother trying to lvl it. It will max just from normal exping 60+ if you cast enough regens and hastes. It doesn't even affect any whm spells except bar-element spells which you won't even use until 60+ during avatar fights. Even then, having it capped isn't critical. So there is no point in spending hours upon hours skilling it up for .1 gain.

If you still insist on maxing it, go to norg, kazham, or rabao and stand next to the nomad moogle. Just spam barelement spells and change subjobs whenever you run out of mp.

That's good news. I'm not hardcore on raising it, but I was worried that perhaps I robbing by group by having a lower skill lvl. I'll just let it happen and save myself the headaches

Lower enhancing skill hurts you in two ways:

- Barelement spells get stronger as your skill increases. Generally speaking, I've never had much trouble capping Enhancing Magic past level 60, but I'm a Regen fiend and use it every chance I get.

- Stoneskin's ability to absorb damage is linked to your enhancing magic skill. While the difference isn't all that profound, even a few points difference can be handy.

Other than that, there doesn't seem to be much use for Enhancing Magic.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about your skill level, once you hit level 60+, it takes so long to gain levels that you'll cap your skill long before you get to the next level.

Strangely enough, I very rarely get Enhancing skillups in XP parties, and I have no idea why, because I spam Regen, Haste etc all the time and pull out Bar-element whenever it's necessary. However, I do seem to get 0.3 skillups 50% of the time I teleport or warp, so go figure. I'm about 15~20 levels below cap so it's not too bad.
