Oh, i love it. And, it CANT just be me, but do the most recent batch of n00bs (looks at France) just suck beyond all levels of sucking? I mean, whats so hard about doing Voke when puller hits camp, and spamming it when mages are under attack? I mean... DAMN. I get invites like nothing as a BLM, but these recent n00bs... i'm tired of Dunes. I died so many times in 1 hour.... Man... 5 Apple Pies wasted. Its like I'm the god damn tank...

I had people actually trick me into power leveling them.. I was doing the quest where you had to sit for hours and couldn't zone or move from the camp fire. I had to place a Giant Sheep Meat in the fire so night time (in game) rolls around and I am seeing a Tarutaru and an Elvaan going around attacking monsters higher than them. While I am waiting for my Galka Sausage to be done the two low levels start hitting goblins and my heart pours out sympthy for them.

My first reaction was to cure them pretty soon my MP ran out quick bare in mind I was a low level Elvaan white mage I say 24 or 25. They kept up so after I had been afk for a while I came back in time to see the Tarutaru was fighting a skeleton her HP was near gone. I sat there thinking well she aught to die because it would serve her right for tricking me into power leveling her.

Once again my heart pours out to this fake dansiel in destress act and I cure her. I proceed to wait for my sausage while I am doing that I am in the healing position it took me a long while to realize the Elvaan's HP was quickly going down. When I saw the scream for "quick help me I need cure" I was to late he was dead he went to his save point and the tarutaru ran away happy.....:mad:

Till this day I sometimes get asked to power level people. If you heal somone while they are fighting they will actually think you are there to power level for free...

I didn't explain myself real well - what I should have said was that these are the folks who use 1hsword on a warrior and when asked why, they reply they're going to go pld. Or if you ask them why their sub is 20 levels off, they reply they're going to go XXX when they hit 30 so they don't need to level the sj anyway.

Nothing wrong with pld's and drk's, you guys are A-OK =)

When i know I am going to be travelling through low-level areas I put my level 1 equip on and go /anon. If they check me they notice i have level 1 gear and they won't ask for a powerlevel. (this is with my RDM level 32)
as for my WHM. While im seeking (level 16) i was asked by a level 15 to PL. I told that person i can't I'm 1 level higher than you. I could die from the stuff you face. Then i notice he has a sub and that i PTed with him as my RDM. He tells me to PL him with my RDM.... I can't PL at level 32. It isnt possible. I usually run out of MP too fast. (380 HP 380 MP).

I only PL people that i've known for a LONG time (people i started to level with). And that is still rare. If i do PL ill make sure they are level 10- and there is at least 1 other person in the PT. I PLed 3 times since i started. I liked the first time because i got 10k a level (they came fast. they were level 9 ). That guy was rich somehow.

When i was leveling my BRD. I was asked to PL (it is only levle 10 >.<) they saw i had level 10 gear (forgot to equip instrament. It wasnt needed) and i was ruinning to selbina. Then a level 13 asked me for a PL....... (im levle 10!!!!).

I'm going to revive this thread again due to a little problem i am in, a friend just got back into FFXI and quit WoW only cause i play FFXI and I am a WHM of course I was glad he re joined FFXI but he always kept asking that i PLed him and when i was at his house he always told me to play as his character to lvl it up, i really dont want to lvl his character while mine just sits there and i have to pay the monthly charges and not get anything done, i just want a little help with what i should do cause frankly hes driving me to the breaking point of leaving FFXI

Yeah, I say let his type go back to Wow, where he doesnt need to have a fully-functioning brain to enjoy and understand it.

Either that or give him an Xbox and say "Big system, many shinys. Go fun ^^"

i just got a messege from him saying that he dont really care if i PL him or not before he asked me if i got my comp up and running, now does this seem like a person who really doesnt care if i PL him and he does like the game he always watches me play and always says "god you make me want to play the game all over again" but if this is the case you would think he would at least put some effort into lvling himself on a side note he also said that he had a 54 WHM as of now he is lvling RDM... RDM shouldnt that be alot easier then lvling whm seeing as how they use sword type weapons, but yet he complains how he dies so many times and when i ask him what he dies to he says Decent Challenge, i really didnt understand this at all then he tells me that hes to impacient to really rest to regain his MP and HP... i can only hope this goes away before he gets into a exp party, i can only imagine how its going to turn out when he runs outta MP and has to cure only for the party to find out that he didnt rest cause he wanted the exp chain and everyone ends up dieing

Many interesting stories in this thread. For me I had some experiences, but never realy bad ones. Just a few notes I would like to point out:

1 - If the person that is asking is asking politely, no need to reply rudely, even if the request crazy. Just because you don't believe in PLing people and such does not entitle you to be rude to people that are not. Just say: {I'm busy now} or something close to it telling people that you will not PL them. (I got asked a few times something like "Do you PL?" and I simply replied "nah". End of story, no need to go beyond it).

2 - Please remember how it was to be starting in this game. It is not that easy and it takes time to understand the entire mechanics of the game. I remember a time when I thought that waiting for a raise in the Maze of Shakhrami for 30 minutes was better than going to Home Point that was in Buburimu (sp?) Penninsula... (boy, those were the days). In some instances, the player simply *does not know* any better...

3 - Be aware of being obnoxious, which can happen to White Mages (somehow they are more likely to turn that way). Be helpful when you want, be polite when you decline, and /blist when they are rude.

Here is a story that happened to me. It involves a Black Mage, but it is an example of a subtle rudeness that can be avoided:

I am farming as RDM/THF. I get done and I start walking back to Windurst. On my way, I see 2 people walking the opposite direction. One of them I notice is a Black Mage above lvl 40.
So I /tell him "{Hello!} {Warp} 2 {please}? 500 {reward}?"

He replies: "10 k"

Now I understand if you don't want to do it or are in a hurry. Just say "I'm sorry, I am in a hurry". No need to give me a ridiculous price for something you can do in a few seconds, keeps you in the same spot, and costs you some MP (I could have refreshed him too!).

Its a subtle rudeness... no need for it.

The same thing happens to me on my brd, so dont feel like youre escaping anything by changing jobs.

I get tons of people asking me to do BCNM with them too. That gets irritating. Especially the ones that expect me to use my own seals on a bcnm with people i dont know.

My wife and I PL each other's low level jobs. After the 4th time through the 1-20 grind with noobs who can't find a clue if it crawled up and bit them on the ass is a bit too much for me.

Dunes party? ( No thanks), I will take my PL party in Buburimu. I do try to take a few people who know what they are doing with me though, so we function like a real party, just with a much larger MP tank.


I don't mind PL, as long as it's me offering it to others who don't need to suffer the lowbies yet again. What I can't stand is sub-less noobs, who I don't even know, demands that I get there and PL his lazy behind.


One of these days, I am gonna takes a rude obnoxious noob demanding for PL out to Cape Terrigon, trick him into setting HP there and leave him. -_-;
