It's been my experience that that sticking an enfeeble is a function solely of MND. I was able to get paralyze and slow to stick every time on the level 55ish skellies behind BG3 in Garlaige as a level 55 mnk/25 whm.

Where enfeebling skill comes into play is the duration, and possibly the effectiveness of the enfeeble. My aforementioned paralyze and slow lasted about 5-10 seconds, at best. I would also think that paralyze effectiveness (how often the monster gets paralyzed) is determined by enfeebling skill to a large extent, although I haven't tested it.

Anyway, if a mnk/whm with what..75ish enfeebling skill (capped for level 25 whm) can use enfeebles to some extent, then a main whm with capped enfeebling skill should still be able to get good mileage out of their enfeebles.

      No way, Jose.

I had great difficulty sticking enfeebles as WHM/BLM 55. If memory serves, I missed probably 40% of my enfeebles against VT, higher againt IT/IT++, unless the enfeeble was an element the target was weak against. Paralyze is extremely hard to stick on skeletons even as a main mage. They have very strong ice resistance.

No offense, but I find your claim of "paralyze and slow to stick every time" on even match skeletons with a /WHM subjob to be completely unbelievable.

Enfeebling status effect magic is dependent primarily on Enfeebling Magic, and secondarily by MND in the case of Paralyze, Slow, and Silence(white mage).

the higher you get, the more useless whm enfeebles become. its simply not our job, we dont have the skill. capped at 75, i have the base enfeebling skill of a lvl ~65 rdm. i imagine with enfeebling gear i could get somewhere around ~260 skill, but then consider that most rdms i know have over 300 skill with their enfeebling gear and it just becomes silly :spin:

mnd is definitely a factor though. how much it helps in landing the spell i dont know, but as far as effectiveness goes it helps a lot. if you have crappy mnd, even if you land the spell, it wont do anything. e.g, you land paralyze, but the mob is never paralyzed by the effect. youll need well over 100 mnd in addition to high enfeebling skill to make something like paralyze effective, or make silence or slow last against gods or whatnot. its downright funny to see a good rdm silence suzaku during his chainspell

you can enfeeble just fine at lower levels, but as you get higher it becomes less and less effective to even try.

Yeah, less effective at higher levels but I still usually cast slow and para every fight since the RDM is usually casting refresh, haste or gravity.

I'd say keep the skill capped, which isn't hard.

That's what the MNK with 140+ MND and a WHM SJ is for :p

Actually, just the opposite. As you get 65+, you fight mobs that are closer to your lvl do to a lack of selection. 62-68 I've fought the same crabs, crawlers, and flies in boyada tree and it only gets easier with each lvl to land enfeebles. Resists are few and far between for me except for the occasional resist on gobbue. Now I did try going with only +10 mnd for a while instead of my usual +35 and found my resist rate to sky rocket to the point it was too embarresing to even bother enfeebling. Yet, as soon as I went back to use the mnd gear, I had no problems. Hardest time I ever had with enfeebling so far was 58-61 in valley of sorrows on raptors. Side note, I only use the mnd gear while enfeebling and then return to the mp gear.

While our paralyze might not kick in as often as a rdm's enfeeble (still unsure of that), dia II and slow are both set amount/rates that they hurt the mob by, so you shouldn't pass up enfeebling if you are without a rdm.

As far as gods and hnms are concerned, I agree there's no point in us trying, but that' s a pretty sloopy party that goes out there without a rdm.

Wait till you pass 70 Rones... soooooo painful to try to enfeeble anything. Even with +10 Enfeebling from AF armor and around 90 MND, I can't stick Slow or Paralyze for beans against most XP enemies at level 73. It might work better if I used an Enfeebling Torque plus Ice Staff/Earth Staff, but the only times I cast those spells is when I'm partied with a bard, and not a red mage, so I haven't (quite) justified the cost for those pieces yet, though I'll need them eventually if I ever level RDM or BLM any higher.

Paralyze with 234 Enfeebling Magic and 90 MND = no way against Spartoi Sorcerors.
