  • Getting parties is hard as hell as a whm on garuda...

    Does anyone have any tips for finding parties? Right now I'm a lvl 34 whm (blm is 18) and I have the absolute hardest time finding parties. I was lvl 33 earlier trying to get a Crawlers Nest party or Garlaige and after waiting for party for the duration of a Reraise, I went to altepa to lvl to 34, where in a party DRK was tanking and myself and a PLD were main healers @_@.

    I don't understand why I'm not getting parties when in my search comment I'm boasting 340 MP and +17 MND when last night in Garlaige (I was just curing ppl after fights for good karma) in tarutaru lvl 1 gear, a maple wand, and a cape +1 at the almightyness of Rank2 had a party >.>

    Also, I'm Rank3, and LS members just got rank4 (they started the mission before I logged on tonight) so if ranks a problem thats gotta be bad (I've seen a lot of rank 1 and 2s in altepa though..)

    Also since I just got to lvl 34 I strongly doubt I have a reputation thats keeping me from exp.. Sorry that this post is a huge bitching spree, but is there any adivce you could give me?

    Rank *probably* isn't your problem. Most people aren't going to invite a Rank 1 to their group at your level, but Rank 3 seems about par for the course. Rank 4 doesn't really do much for you other than raising the duration of signet either. If you were around 50 and didn't have Rank 5 (the airship pass one), then you might have a bit more trouble, but at this stage, rule this out.

    Have you considered that maybe you're in a place where people just aren't looking for WHMs? I've noticed when I'm in a group in a dungeon, people naturally seem to assume they'll have to import a player, and gear their searches to the nearest town. I've had people import a WHM from Jeuno when I'm standing right in front of them, for example. It wasn't that I had a bad rep or anything, the PT leader just didn't notice me, or think to look in that zone. Try going LFG in Jeuno for a bit, Lower or Upper seem to be the best spots at this range, and doing something else for a bit, like looking through the Auction House for deals, or starting Gobbie Bag quests. Murphy's Law works wonders in Jueno, as soon as you get involved in something different, you'll get an invite to exp.

    Hmm, the only other thing I can think of that might make a difference is changing your search comment. What you've got now seems a bit braggy, that may be putting someone off. Try just listing how much exp you've got to the next level and how long you can play for. You might also want to list which ports you can cast, (or have crystals for), later on in the game when you can cast these. I found that helped me out quite a bit getting Altepa groups.

      I bet if you had Erase......

      /sigh (300K+ ;_ friend of mine gets parties like she's lv10 again since getting erase at EXACTLY lv32.. Spent a month saving up for it.

      Having RSE and then putting it in your search comment would help too. That is if you have it.

      ^^^Those are just possibilities. Not saying you must have them.

      As far as rank is concerned I'd have more trouble than you if at that level. ~_^

        Getting parties..

        First off, I'm a blm, but lately I've noticed it's becoming harder to find parties, too, so maybe I can help.

        Personally, I think around CN time players just become a lot more scarce. Someone mentioned to me that half the server's population disappears, and while that's exaggeration, it seems like it. At 30, newer players run off to find advanced jobs, and it gets harder to start parties, and to find one.

        My search comment usually looks something like this: (|xx|) means it's in the Auto-Translator.

        @350/6500 (or whatever)
        (|food|): (|Pumpkin Pie|)
        (|Japanese|)/(|English|) PT OK

        I'm not sure how much it's helped, but that's my two cents. Also, RSE is very useful as someone pointed out. Not so much in finding parties, unless you put +MP in your search comment (which might be a good idea, I've just never thought of doing it), but maybe in building up a good reputation?

          At level 34, most parties aren't fighting things that use status effect attacks, so red mages are pretty stiff competition until level 36 (when WHM get an edge with Teleport-Holla/Dem/Mea).

          Try putting together your own parties. Grab a PLD, maybe a Bard if you can find one, and the other pieces of the puzzle should fall into place.

            You must have a LOT of competition on your server.

            My experience is that WHM has little to no trouble at all getting parties at any level range, especially not the one you're currently in (30s).

            RDM aren't as heavily desired until 41. BRDs are usually never available.

            True, a good RDM that knows what he/she's doing can replace a WHM but most RDM I've seen at that level range rarely are - many are still in the Red Warrior mindset.

            I don't think the "there just aren't enough people" theory works anymore. It did several months back, but there are quite enough NA players at all but the highest level range now. Not to mention the fact that JPs often don't hesitate to invite NA mages - which isn't true for NA melee.

            The only reason I can think of is there's just a lot of WHM your level.

              I think you've got more problems than finding pt's, if you have a drk tank over a pld in a pt.

                I'm a lvl 19 whitemage in garuda and I certainly dont have any problems with getting party invites. I even get too many party invites sometimes >_<, I love /anon.

                What matters the most is if you have all your spells up to date and all your gear. For example, my party had 2 WHMs in korroloka, I was healing for 30 (Cure I ) and 87 (Cure II) and the other whm was healing for 28(Cure I) and 80 (Cure II) . I had most of the bar-ra spells, he did not. I had shellra, he did not. I had +11 MND, he did not. THe point is that at the end he got kicked to make room for a ninja or something.

                Even at low lvls i believe that your gear will mean something, and those /tells from old party members always brings a smile to your face =).

                Oh and yeah get erase if you can, but i doubt you will be able to since its so goddamn expensive.

                  haha this was just a funny story, if youre a PLD its hard to keep hate when a DRK uses Boost, Soul Eater, and Last Resport when you have maybe 1 voke in..... ah it was only for one battle anyway, putting that aside...

                  ...I got up to lvl 37 and right now the biggest problem is tanks..I haven't PTd in a couple days because all WAR/PLD/NIN were in partys in my lvl range when i searched for them and when I felt like lvling, my search comment has been:

                  @1300 {food}Apple Pies
                  {Please Invite Me}
                  MND +19 MP ###+35 w/o food

                  I also recently got rank4

                  What does Erase do anyway?

                  Thanks for help..

                    Erase clears status effects that there isn't spells for, like slow, attack down, evasion down, etc.

                      Ok, is it like an Esuna or do I still have to use the other spells like Poisona, Paralyna, etc?

                      Sorry for the many questions, my computer has been on for nearly a month and I can't run too many windows at once..

                      Edit: Wow I have just noticed, the last party I got invited to was through reputation, what lvl did that start happening for you guys?

                        Granted I'm not there yet, but I've read that reputation really kicks in post-50. Of course, it always helps to have a good reputation, and bad reputations can plague players as early as in their 20's.

                        You just don't really notice good reputation effects as much as you notice the bad ones. More people are apt to say 'so and so sucks as a PLD / WHM / RDM / etc, don't ever invite him/her' than 'woah, so and so is a great PLD / WHM / RDM / etc, keep an eye out for them'.

                            Level your sub. Rank 5 is hardly an accomplishment, and is only impressive to those that haven't reached it yet. In other words, it means nothing. However, having an underlevelled sub speaks volumes about what kind of player you are; a lazy one who isn't interested in doing their utmost for their group.

                              Not true. Dispel is your best friend in CN. I breezed through as rdm/whm and was often main healer. I know that doesn't help the original poster tho.

                              It's not your rank or your MP, it's probably bad luck more than anything. The only thing I can add is that you might want to put (|teleport-altep|) OK in your search comment. I never party in GC anymore, I always make a party in jeuno and go to altepa, so I'm looking specifically for people who have that crystal.
