Thanks you guys have made me feel a whole lot better about the situation! I appreciate the offer to blacklist these rude players but I'm not all bout vendiction, karma works for me. They have been blacklisted as far me and the LS I play with thats all that matters. (My LS has players all over the friggin place, lol) So thank you again soooo much but I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed that the game malfunctioned with one of those crabs they kept pulling and the damn thing ate them. he he he

I am not too proud however to admit that I may need help depending on the size of the party.

Just today I accepted an invite to a party out in Selbina for the dunes with a bunch of lvl 14-15's working on what I can only assume was their subs. When I recieved the invite there were only three of us in the party and I advised the leader that I was new to the game multiple times, to which she replied was fine. As I waited for the rest of the party I continued to see players being added to the party, so I asked the leader if there would be back up healer to help out with the now 4 warriors and me. She said that she only needed one healer so I tried again to tell her that I was new and needed back up, she says something bout a RDM and I see a player with mp pop up. Now seeing that they were in the highlands I couldn't exactly check but figured that for a change my luck was good and I would get xp. Unfortunately for me I get there just as they start to look for crabs (above their lvl) and have enough time to cast protect on the party. They pull and I find out the other mage is a BLM who can't heal and is pulling as much aggro as the melee and the tank. I tell them they need to back off I can't heal them at the same rate they are losing hp and they pull again. Now I have macro for cure and have had many of the guys in my LS tell me not to macro cure II since it pulls more aggro but I ended up casting cure II over cure on the warriors AND the BLM. After the third member of the party died while I was trying to cure, I got lengthy tells telling me to go F*$@! myself and that I was a bad WHM. I'm sorry but that is just not cool and as a new WHM it is really discouraging! I don't condone having a bad attitude just because of you job but people could try to be a little nicer! It's really easy and it won't hurt I promise.
Cure II doesnt gain alot of hate on mobs in dunes, cept maybe.. Snippers(not too common) and pugs(almost all the freaking time >_> <<< SCREWDRIVER >>> .. and they manage to survive it...>< Your heart might drop to the floor.)

Well I can't state that as fact... Just from my experience, I've never really gained hate from using Cure II. At most, if they are not weak(bad gear) you would find yourself using cure II maybe twice a battle. And the two times using it are far and between.

Please do not be discouraged. You will get better alot better. You will know you have got better when you start healing PT's by yourself without the aid of a sub. Though that might not occur til you reach 17-18, when you've become extremely comfortable with the job(a guess, but I'd like to be encouraging ). Right now and only because of my previous experience, I can do it ok on my own. There is still some "restriction" though cause well...no sub. But when I first tried the job, yes~ I would ask for a back up healer, or ask to invite another WHM.

Oh btw....If a lv 14-15 PT cannot TAKE ~ IT Snippers, you ARE in a bad party, if a PT of lv 18-19(currect me if Im wrong) cannot even get a pug at 50% HP, you ALL will DIE, you will go first because you will naturally use Benediction. Unless you use it and run and hope to God it doesnt kill you before you get to zone line.. If YOU find yourself "tanking" most of the time in a PT, leave it. Dying... well, I like death for some reason.. which is why I love using Benediction when the time comes to use it. I wanna see if the mob can catch me.

And eh.... you can tell a noob BLM from a experienced one.. Noob BLM's blow every spel back to back to back to back to back. Can you say "HAAAAAATE". Yea not good when you have to dump big heals on the nuker too.

What Icemage said about 3 deaths is right. Though I wouldnt stay normally after 2... blame that on Yhoator Jungle nightmare.

You are not perfect. There isnt a perfect player or perfect player for a xx job. You do the best you can, its impossible to get control of things when you have to cure everyone who continously drops to red, becaue they themselves are exp hungry and wanna make mobbie give 200 EXP everytime, and expect you to cure THEM while you are trying to save someone elses ass AT THE SAME time..

i havent gotten many complaints about how i cure, my general rule is as soon as something is pulled, regen goes to main agro holding tank, then everyone else gets healed as soon as they hit yellow. i dont like seeing oj, because some thing have a killer crit and i dont like seeing dead ppl. i keep everything upgraded, armor and spells, in fact if i know im going to be somewhere for a long time ( ie citadel right now) i have all my spells and new armor on my char so theres no time where im outdated, yeah sure i have low level rings and such on, but hey, im a 31 whm/15 blm taru with 413 mp normally, plus i use pumpkin pies alot. i can heal a whole party with no backup, but a second whm is nice ^^

i cant stand being in a party where
        1) the tanks cant hold agro and im hit every 2 mins
        2) theres a second whm so sits during the fight while i heal
        3) they dont know what they can fight and it takes my all my mp to heal for 1 fight, making the downtime just horrible.

all in all ive been in a ton of groups, some good, some bad, i love being a whm, and have had many ppl tell me i do a good job.

but i also have to say i respect all the elvaan/mithra/hume whm, i know how hard it can be on me with all my mp, and you have even less. hehe but dont try telling me with smn subbed you will have as much mp as me ( as a very stupid/bad elvann whm i know does lol )

heheh just 1 last thing to add, i love all you pld's out there ^^

the saintly rings and eremite rings last up to lvl 40. i used mine until i got my electrum ones, so that's no big deal.

my general rule is as soon as something is pulled, regen goes to main agro holding tank

any white mage who does this is such a huge help. i tend to overuse regen myself on just about anyone in the party.

theres a second whm so sits during the fight while i heal
actually, this is a good idea if you're chaining. i remember doing this in yhoator a few months ago chaining mandragoras.

heheh just 1 last thing to add, i love all you pld's out there

Actually, at your level range, Elvaan WHM/SMN would have very close to the same MP pool as a Tarutaru WHM/BLM due to the availability of RSE. Elvaan RSE adds a lot of MP, Tarutaru RSE adds none, which closes the racial gap until about level 45, when Tarutaru mages start pulling away from everyone in the max MP department (though by that point, max MP starts becoming less and less important compared to playstyle efficiency and MP recovery).

EDIT: I should note that I think subbing /SMN prior to level 50/25 is a horrible idea - the MP boost is not that important compared to what you'd get from other subjobs.

Hehe a lot of people said the same thing I'm going to say. If you're a bad or n00b whm, then you'll get told what to do. I'll say it, I'm a bad whm sometimes. Most of the time I'm just lazy or half asleep

At lower levels, people will tell you what to do and crap because they don't trust you.

To be a better whm, you must know your PT and what you're fighting. Watch the melees and casters, check the main and secondary tank's armor, and watch their playing skills. It should only take half an hour to really know how your PT works and how to work with it. Check out what the monster does for skills. Most of their skills have status effects.
              Example:

              Crawler type monsters:
              Bad Status: Poison, Slow.

              Crab type monsters:
              Bad Status: STR Down

              Skeletons (bone) type monsters:
              Bad Status: Blind, Paralyze, Slow

Coeurl (sp? The cat thingies) type monsters:
              Bad Status: Paralyze, Silence

Mage Skeletons are the ones that will give you a hard time when fighting. They're ice spikes will not tell you that the person has that status effect. And it's usually 70% chance they will be paralyzed. So will have to watch the logs "blahblah is paraylzed".
And about poisona, I usually cast it after a battle because it's no use casting it in the middle of battle, your tank will be hit with it again.

I dont have a problem of being treated badly, i know how to do my job and i do it right so nobody really has anything to complain about.

A little advice for the lower lvl WHM's, Healing comes before EVERYTHING, if ur tank is at red HP, dont throw a paralyze at the mob, heal the tank at all costs, if there is no RDM in the party and your stuck with the enfeebling job then just enfeeble when you can, good times to do that is in between cures, dont throw cures 1 after the other because u will draw alot of hate so i find it good to cast other spells in between cures till the tank gets enough hate.

I havent been cursed at for not doing my job properly since about lvl 25 so dont worry it will get better for you, as people get higher lvl, they learn and start to realise.

I've been told to do in a party last night. Given the party leader was a rank2 46PLD, who when our THF (amazing Viper Bite) left, invited a second RDM >_<

Anyway, I am a Regen Whore. Regen2 I don't like all that much because it wears of too quickly, but I do use regen a lot lately, and now for the first time in 40 levels my Enhancing skill is more than my enfeebling.

When I play I wear +96MP and +18MND and I sport no RSE, but I'll still get invites and I won't get cursed at, especially by the more skilled players.

Heh, when I play as a White Mage I get nothing but praise. My Whm is only lvl 15 right now though but I guess I have a lot of experience because I'm a lvl 36 Red Mage.

Kinda funny, last night my party had two whm's and a pld. We were fighting snippers. I'm a Taru and the other whm was a Elvaan. The elvaan prolly ran out of mp 25% into every battle and the paladin ran out about 30% in but my mp always lasted until the end. I was also using Banish and Enfeebling cause we had no rdm the whole time, was great....

My party kept saying how much they loved my mp pool. I had 204 mp at 15 without using Apple Pies. Elvaan had about 104 and the Paladin had about 80 or so, was a Mithra....

Anyways, some whm's get treated bad, but the ones who do *usually* deserve it. I've told off whm's before because it's not hard to do that job well although at times it can be stressful keeping everyone alive.

I'm enjoying whm a lot though, Korroloka tunnels here I come

I totally agree that WHMs are treated badly. For instance say you are in a party and someone dies its almost always your fault. But then later when you die its like sorry you died an no one gets blamed. I also dislike when partys start the next fight and the WHM does not have a resonable amount of MP and then when someone dies its your fault. I think that it is just not right.
Why is it that when adults have multiple personalities it's schizophrenia, but when a child has imaginary friends it's cute?

Sorry Just a crazy thought that I had.

yes there are some horrible whm's but there are some horrible tanks too was in Crawlers nest curing curing curing i got hit 4 times down to 30 hp before they voked it off i cast regen on my self keep curing the pt cast cure get hate on me again almost died

please tanks know your hate management i dont like being smacked around you do your job and i will do my job

you have a status ailment you tell me i mainly only watch the HP bar and never look up at the fight or the msg log sense its all battle spam anyway

1 thing that really pisses me off is somebody that yells HEAL!! when they get hit one time i have lved whm over 40 3 times i have a good grasp on whm and how to heal and to keep the pt alive regen pt members that get hurt from hate heal main tank

Ha-ha, Kai, you got owned. That's what happens when you make things up; you end up digging your own grave. You do realise, that by lying like that, you're putting yourself into a very awkward position...Like, the little boy that cried wolf. Except, not as wolfy, and more...*Scratches head.*

It's me, Jonny, by the way. Naraku/Soulstone, whichever you know best. *Wink.*

On topic though, yeah, I do think WHM's don't get enough credit for what they do. I always make sure I thank the ENTIRE party, however, rather than praise just one member.

I don't, exactly, blame WHM when I die. I blame any other melee for not provoking it off me before I died. That's what REALLY annoys me the most. I think every WHM does an excellent job, considering they have to watch out for every single member of the party. I know for a fact I couldn't do that.

It's incredible how there's still so many bad or mediocre players at 60+/70+. If you think level makes a good player, it's not true. I remember partying with a newcomer lv24 WAR in quifm while leveling another job, he was incredible... was a really quiet guy, didn't ask or say much, but would just watch and then pick up things fast. Was an awesome tank/melee... all by being this super observer... was a CS player before ffxi, lol.

Anyways, /cheer WHM!!!! If you try to get better, you will. If people are giving you a hard time, don't stress too much over it. Then again, if you're one of those complaining types that blames everything on others and suck and stay sucky, thinking you know it all... well.... you probably get an abnormal amount of criticism and might need to learn some humility and try to improve.

BTW, Tamari, WHMs must learn hate-management too. At 30+ I'd more likely blame the WHM first for constantly gaining hate rather than the tank, unless it's a pingpong session in the party. Especially if the WHM keeps getting smacked more than once/twice in a row. The mob should turn back to melees or tank even without provoke after smacking you if you're managing your hate. Being a good WHM takes a sense of knowing when not to cure too. (Although the overcurers later grow to become undercurers... barely doing anything because they're afraid of dying... blaming tanks the whole while).

I've just heard a lot of mages quick to jump in screaming at tanks if they get smacked even once without even considering any fault on their part, and it's usually the overnukers/overcurers (regular Cure IV users among these). If you're managing your hate, you'll know when the tank is REALLY bad because it's like trying to limbo under a 15inch bar.
                            I am still a noob. T_T

i know how to deal with hate i use Cure and Cure II and if tank is in red or in danger of dieing pull out the Cure III then i will know to expect hate but with Cure II? come on i dont constanly spam Cure II but if i just send off the spell get hit goes back to tank cure again comes back hits me goes back to tank that gets really frustratring was in crawlers nest the other night grinding to 40 and we had a pld that dident voke but maybe once a battle dident cure him self to keep aggro and he used Cover on nobody he just used it i got very paranoid about curing him becuase i knew it would come after me becuase of his lack of curing but now that i have Holy Breastplate its not SO much of a big deal if it hits me once or twice but still agrovating to be smacked twice every fight
