Thx all for the kind words!

2.0 - My club skill is currently at 225. I lvled it up almost entirely outside of exp PT's. While I do believe it is ok for whms to melee against certain types of monsters (crabs, crawlers, non-aoe type mobs, etc), I found that it was next to impossible for me to keep club skilled up to the point where it was of any use as it seemed that the majority of monsters that i fought had some special ability that made it inefficient to melee against. When I do skillup or lvl club I always equip a lifebelt and this great set of gloves I don't hear talked about too much, aiming bracelets (i think lvl 49, +6 acc, -15 atk but do not care much about atk as long as I do 1 dmg ^^). They are very cheap on my server. I have a macro set that mirrors my "non-engaging, traditional whm" macro bar but replaces everything with <stpc> instead. Also, if you are just looking for skillup, use a wand instead of a mace/maul as the cooldown on the weapon is much, much lower.

Kalel - I actually made a video of my fight with maat using fraps (In the event that I lost, I wanted to learn from my mistakes). Fortunately, I was able to win on my first attempt. After reviewing the tape and adding things up, I ended up taking around ~6000 pts of damage and healing for way more than 4000. So I, too, am a believer of the fact that it is the dmg you must take, rather than how much you heal that is the winning condition. As to how I did it, in preparation I decided to wait until lightsday and to also use a light staff. I started out w/my 2 mp rings, then switched to the lvl 70 JSE earring (-30% physical dmg taken) and the lvl 50 JSE ring (healing +10%) after mp was used. It was so strange, because my Cure III's ended up healing so much more then they usually do when the +30% healing went into effect, that my curing was all off and I was sort of inefficient on occasion(I think one Cure3 healed for like 234 (!)).

My basic fight strategy was to go in - eat crab, buff up, rest, cast regen 3, drink yagudo, begin fight (i did not even engage with him, just casted paralyze I think to start the fight), use Cure 3, use mulsum, C3, mulsum, C3, mulsum, etc and C4s after a WS or crit. The mulsum was a bit of a problem because I wasn't able to use it as fast as I anticipated I could after every Cure3 because he hits just a little bit too fast. He paralyzed me 2x during the fight but I was able to paralyna myself without failure so it wasn't much of a problem. When my mp got low I stopped casting entirely and began quaffing hi-pots as I waited for the Yagudo drink to restore my mp enough that I could heal again. He gave up during the hi-potion phase of the fight. Oh, and I think I benedictioned after he used Dragon kick on me and used flash once. In all I brought 3 yagudo drinks, 12 echo drops (used 0), 10 hi-pots (used 8 or 9), 16 mulsum (used ~8), and 1 emergency vile elixir (did not use).

My best advice to you would be to write up a little checklist of things to do b4 and during the fight. I had one and I know I would have forgotten to do something if I hadn't as you tend to get kind of nervous because of the nature of this bcnm (1x1). Also make sure to have everything macro'd out (especially paralyna, and echo drops) and practice before hand so you know that all macros work (just make sure you are in a running motion and you will not actually use any of the pots, etc). My only regret is that we as whms don't get to punish Maat like most of the other classes do ^^. (Actually, on that note there is a whm in my LS who actually pounded Maat down w/hexastrike. He set the record for beating him around ~4:00 but this was b4 the TP nerf to WS's so I do not know how feasible this method is any more).

Well, GL and let me know if you have any more q's!

if only all the WHMs were like you. the ones i always run into either try to debuff right off and screw up my rhythm or don't back me up at all. a backup slow when mine gets resisted frees up precious seconds in which i can be refreshing someone or piling on the other debuffs. i don't mean to sound like i'm kissing ass, but other white mages should read this thread and apply it to their daily playing style.

I have to agree, that's one fantastically useful post . Many people should learn from this (and not do stuff like forcing your blm use paralyze and slow ><). That color changing tip was definately helpful. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Dia 2 vs Bio 2 and which would be more useful when.

Same thing with shield bash, sentinel, rampart, etc they can be used every 4:15-4:20 instead of 5 mins. This allows him to gain more agro and lets everyone cut loose more without worry, resulting in more efficient exp gains.

          Haste doesnt affect Job Abilities.

Although its nice to find someone else who uses flash in exp parties. I agree at low levels it can be a bad thing as it does give a fair bit of hate, but later on its very useful.

Also Flash is supreme when ninja tanks get hit, just toss flash and they can recast, saving you the mp from them getting hit.

but, does haste effect utsusemi? if so.. nins can get alot of haste (70%), does that effect the recast time or only the -cast- time?

wish WHMS would haste my BLM when i cast freeze

I have this thread Bookmarked but on the FF11 Vault Boards.

I like this thing and I also agree that ALL WHM's should try and read this. I'm barely going to start partying with my WHM so I get to use this guide for 65 lvl's yay!

Oh, and congrats on hitting lvl 75! w00t w00t You deserve a thumbs up for playing this long.

It knocks a few seconds off the recast time, and cast time seems marginally quicker.

Great guide, the Flash info was interesting. What, specifically does Flash do, since it's obviously just not a Blind variant with a lot of hate granted?

                      great post

my friend is a lvl 60 whm on asura, and he often complains that WHM aren't the uber healers they should be, i'll make him come read this thread and see what he thinks about it.

As i'm beginning to level whm myself, this was a very useful thread, with lots of great info. Thanks very much for sharing, and congratulations on your accomplishement

                        Some additional tips added to this great post. Some Area status anomalies can be resisted when used the correct bar line of spells. Although I only know one -_-;

Tiger's AoE Paralise: In conjunction with Baparaira, put bablizard in. Paralise is ice based so in conjunction with paralise resist you will up your blizard resist. By being mnk aswell when my whm friend casts these 2 Ba -ra line of spells I resist nearly 70% of the aoe paralise.

Flash is a very nice spell but remember that it overwrites Blind or blind ninjutu. Its good to tell the Rdm or any debuffer before hand.
