(Sorry if I miss spelled Enfeeble =) )

Hey, I just started leveling my White Mage a while ago, and I have some questions. I'm leveling my White with my brothers Red (we won't ever play without the other) so I was wondering if White Mages ever get any Enfeeble magic that Red Mages don't? I'm really hoping not, since I'd like to leave enfeebling to him, and save my MP for other things.

I've heard Flash is a Divine (not sure if I spelled that right either) and not Enfeebling, is this true? If so, are all the White Mage/Paladin exclusive enfeebles Divine type? My enfeebling skill will be horrid by the time I'm high enough to use spells like that, so I'm really hoping they aren't enfeeble type.

Thanks for any answers =) I really love being a White Mage, and I'd like to be a good one... but I don't want to learn any enfeeble magic. I'd be allot happier if I knew that my brother can handle all of those. (P.S., if anyone has a link to a site that lists all the White Mage spells, and what type they are, I'd love to see that. Unless someone just posts all the Enfeeble type spells here...)

White Mages learn Silence a few levels earlier than Red Mages, but both of them get it eventually. I don't think there are any enfeebles WHM gets that RDM doesn't get at all. WHM are really more focused on healing, enhancing and divine magics.

However, at higher levels, RDM will often need the WHM to cover the low-level enfeebling magics (Paralyze, Slow, maybe Dia) because RDM have too many other things to do and WHM isn't doing anything at the start of the battle. So I'd encourage you to keep your Enfeebling Magic up - it isn't that bad, just not as good as RDMs.

Alright =) Thanks for the answers. I may end up leveling my enfeebling if we decide to level our Mages very high, otherwise I'll just stick to my other spells.

      Anyway, thanks again =)

you can see every magic that every class has availble to them from Jeuno's auction house. There are no EX scrolls (that I know of).

i don't know where you heard this, but this is definitely not true. white mages and black mages have the same enfeebling skill (C rating). i can't land an enfeeble to save my life on ITs. neither can a whm for the most part, it takes multiple tries. rdms are the king of enfeebles and thats their job, amongst other things.

I agree with riceburner. Despite having my enfeebling maxed, AND my +15 enfeeble magic from AF, it is hard to land an enfeeble on ITs.

Also, WHMs do have a lot of things to do at the start of a battle.. regen, haste.. if you're not doing anything at the start of a battle, it should be because you're resting to regain MP, not for anything else.

Well, it sounds like I won't have to level my enfeebling after all. That's good =) I should have quite a bit of things to do to keep me busy, more so than my brothers Red Mage. I'm planning on subbing Bard to my White Mage, so if I'm not resting/hasting/curing/whatever I'll be singing buffs/debuffs. I hear I'll quite often have to try two or three times to get some of the bard songs to stick, so I wouldn't really have time to enfeeble with magic anyway. =) (I don't plan on ever playing any other mages other than White and Bard, so I can't sub anything else really... maybe ninja, thief, or dragoon.. but I'm guessing bard will be more helpful =) )

Anyway, thanks for all the replies =) I'm glad to hear that I don't have to waste my time/money getting all my enfeeble spells and capping the enfeeble skill. Since my brother should be able to handle them. I can then spend my time in battles using my Bard sub as best I can, as well as my White Mage main.

Actually, despite the inability of WHM to consistently land enfeebles without assistance after level 50, it IS a good idea to keep it up to date and maxed if possible.

                (1) Dia/Dia II are the WHM's primary weapon in the Enfeebling category. Dia spells always land, so you can always gain skill from casting these spells. Use them once a fight unless the BLM is casting Bio / Bio II ( Bio II > Dia II > Bio > Dia... only one can be in effect on an enemy at a time). More Enfeebling Magic skill = more longer and more consistent stick rate on Dia spells.

                (2) Silence. When you hit level 47+ and monsters that you are fighting start tossing around Ancient Magic that hits for 600-1000 damage, you'll want that enfeebling magic skill to back up your Silence spells unless you like seeing your tanks die. Combine with a /BLM subjob and Elemental Seal to really make sure it sticks, but you need to at least within shouting distance of max skill for this to work. As with Dia, more Enfeebling Magic makes Silence tend to last longer.

Agree with riceburner, miriamel, and icemage.

I'm 66 WHM now, and I can't land paralyze or slow anymore. Capped enfeebling and AF body +15.

Basically I tend to spam 1 or 2 Dia's each fight after i level until i cap it. as icemage said Silence comes in handy. When doing utility work (coffer key hunts etc) many of these mobs will try to cast that ancient magic.

Your skills may not be needed for exp parties but make that extra effort to be a better white mage than another your same level.

Yes, keeping it capped is handy, and not especially hard as it goes up constantly. Especially in parties where you have a bard instead of a red mage, the enfeebling will most likely be up to you. ^^

For some reason, I always go "ha!" when a paralyze lands.

                      ha!

another note, elemental seal+enfeeble will always land for me, but it still will never last the whole fight. not to mention e.seal is a 10 minute reuse.

I didn't "hear" it, I experienced it, on beetles in quicksand among other things. WHM's enfeebles landed just fine on IT, and with refresh he had more mp than he knew what to do with (even with haste) - although the NIN tank may have been part of the reason for that.

Maybe I should have written "at moderately high levels" or "levels 41-??" though. Lots of levels are "higher" than the original poster, and some people apparently think that this reverses again at *extremely* high levels, i.e. 60+ or possibly 65+, and at that point WHM can't even paralyze anymore.

But so far in my experience, if the WHM can't land paralyze, it's not an enfeebling magic issue, it's a level difference issue (it's not just IT, it's IT++ 10-12 levels above us), and I can't land it either (unless I am a couple levels higher than the WHM).

40+, it's rare for any enfeeble to last a whole fight, no matter who casts it. Partly because fights are longer, partly because high level parties often fight monsters at higher relative levels, and partly because monsters get higher resistances.

People who say they can't "consistently" land enfeebles (by which they mean 100%) are like melees that bitch if they miss once in 10 swings. Practically no spell cast on monsters lands all the time (Dia and Bio are the exceptions) - I have even seen skeletons resist Dispel.

RDM get used to this by level 20, but most of a WHM's spells are cast on party members and thus unresistable, so they wail and moan if they have to recast one 9 mp spell. Get over it, it's not like it has a 45 second recast like Gravity. If I'm giving you 150 free MP every two and a half minutes, you should be able to spend a staggering 18 on two paralyzes.

Heh - so what exactly are you doing throughout the fight? I can't see how a WHM would be bored enough to actually go through the whole enfeeble line in one bunch. When I have to enfeeble, I usually won't be able to do it in a row, I have to drop other spells (usually cures) in between the enfeebles.

My expectation of a red mage:
1.) Refresh tank(if PLD), WHM, BLM and themselves -- DRK and BRD is optional.
2.) Dispel, unless BRD in party.
3.) Take care of enfeebling. If my skill is not maxed, I will drop a dia later in battle to keep up.
4.) MB, especially if no BLM in party.
[5.)] Only help out with healing if a party member is dropping too quickly for the WHM to cure them without drawing hate. This shouldn't happen too often however, unless there is no WHM in PT.

My expectation of a white mage:

1.) Keep regen I/II/III up if tank is PLD. They take consistent damage, and Regen gives them consistent HP.
2.) Haste tank. If enough MP, haste other melees.
3.) Buff, that means protectra/shellra series and bar-spells. Bar-spells -can- be taken care of by BRD, however BRD bar-spell will be not as efficient.
                          4.) Heal, heal, heal.
5.) Watch status. Instantly cure bad poison/petrification/curse/virus on mages/paralyze/silence on casters/etc. If Erase, make use of it - spider slow, evasion down on tank, etc.
[6.)] Enfeeble if no RDM in PT.
[7.)] If SMN subjob, make use of that Aerial Armor.
                          BRD75/WHM75/BLM75/RDM75/SMN70/NIN67/MNK33/WAR33/THF15/etc

my enfeebling is capped for lvl 74, I can land slow/para around 60%.

( mad int boost from errant )

Its definately worth keeping capped for HNM when you go with as few people as possible, I couldnt enfeeble roc etc at all a few levels ago, now nothing misses.

Enfeebles are near impossible to land after 60, but if you're really desperate or what, try the Windurst Rank 8 CP gloves and Enfeebling Torque, both will add up to +14 Enfeebling skills. :\
