Unless you saw someone trying to kill all those crawlers with AoE attacks, it wasn't farming. Someone probably got killed running to the zone with that train after them, and then it just ambushes everyone who passes through. Seen that happen way too often.

As well, if you are there hunting for exp solo (since most don't party there), your kills are slow with lots of downtime, thus you don't need lots of mobs around.

Actualy, last time I tried to level in Konschtat I had to leave a good leveling spot because of farmers. In fact.. almost every time I try to level anywhere I'm forced out by farmers. A week or so ago my brother and I were leveling in Konschtat Highlands, trying to level on sheep mainly for the skin (he's leveling leather working), and every minute or two some high level would fly through and kill all the sheep. Then they would go all around the zone killing sheep and stuff until they had looped all the way back to us. So in other words, the sheep would be dead for quite a while, then they would spawn and we would fight a hand full of them, and then the farmer would come back through and kill the rest.

This happens even more in Tahrongi (sp). We were leveling off of Dhalmels, and doing really well. We would build ourt TP on Decents and then skill chain on the Evens. The problem was that on busy times we couldn't even find a Dhalmel, let alone enough to level off of. Even on the slower times, we could rarely go for 30+ minutes without some farmer showing up and killing them all with AoE's (or just hitting them). Then they would just stay there (or near there) taking every monster in site, so we had to move.

Anyway, sorry to jump into a conversation just to say this. But I get really mad when I can't level anywhere because people farm all the monsters near me. I'm fine with people farming, but please, if you see anyone else near you, move to a new spot, or at least ask them what monsters they are trying to fight. I would be fine with farmers taking one or two types of monsters, but not all of them. And at least I would like to fight the Dhalmels or Sheep that I set out to level on.

        :/

I don't suppose I should try and argue, Rones, since you didn't read what I wrote, but I'll reiterate just one last time, at least for other train-happy players:

It may not have been a farming train (see previous post!), but it was 100% for sure NOT a train caused by a party in trouble because the guy leading the crawlers around was at least level 60 (wearing full AF) running around the pit and not headed toward the exit. In fact, he STOPPED to laugh at my fallen corpse. Anyway. I said all that already.

Fact is, some people are just asses -- and the point I was originally trying to make anyway was that a train CAN turn on random passersby. I've been the victim of this very thing happening, so saying it doesn't and training past lower level expers because you think you're not endangering them, well, it's just not so.

Rones, as a mage, you should know better. What happens when you're resting and someone pulls a mob past you? You've never gotten whacked before? What happens if the person is about 40 levels higher than you, and training mobs that kill you in one hit? If you're resting....dead.

Also, anyone who's ever tried to -ga farm knows the thing I'm about to point out. After a few minutes, mobs give up trying to kill you, and just stop wherever they were when their AI arbitrarily decides they've followed you long enough. When that happens near a lowbie...well, corpses ensue. Unless you're training mobs that don't aggro...
          For The Horde!!
Current Gil total spent on gear:
          3,235,000
          Current Gil Value of gear:
          1,151,000
Laughing when new players complain about prices:
          Priceless

Only time I have ever been whacked is when it was someone in my party who had pulled it. When it links/aggros/gets pulled, it places you and everyone in your party (if there is one) on its hate list. Unless they do something to put themselves on the hate list, it won't go after them. Resting doens't put you on the mob's hate list, just builds hate against anything you are on the hate list for . Mobs don't aggro anyone not on the hate list once they are linked onto to a player.

Only time I have ever seen this happen is when you get a long way from them, usually about double the range that you can even see it. Otherwise, it keeps chasing you. Even if it did stop chasing you, if its an aggro/link type, it would immidiately relink with your train.

Ixaera I did read your post, but the way your worded it is unclear:
I walked nearish to the train on my way out of the nest (was walking back to help my LS) and *thwack* *thwack* (repeats) I was a very very dead passerby.
This to me made it sound like it was a stationary trian that you stumbled upon and got aggroed by. Also, if it was an all worker trian like you claim, there is no way it would have aggroed you. And you even just said it probably wasn't a farm train, so why are you even bringing it up in this discussion? I recommended against doing it in highly populated exp zones also.

Yet, this isn't important. You are totally ignoring the fact that I stated it is to be used for farming purposes only, not griefing players. I'm not disagreeing with you on griefing with trains being bad, but you can aoe farm without griefing. You are using the same argument that because some people murder and rob with guns, guns should be banned from even law abiding citizens. Just because some use it wrong doesn't mean you should also block those that use it properly.

Read *more* of my post then:

There were ALL worker crawlers in the train (about 10-15/20 crawlers) while they were linked onto a still living farmer. I walked nearish...
The sentence right before the one you quoted seems to be very clear that I was not walking next to a stationary train, since I stated quite clearly that they were aggroed onto an alive player. I did say "farmer" but I also said later that he may have been griefing after all.

              Rones said:

And another reason I don't think you read my posts is because *I* said, previously:
The only thing I could think of to explain the massacre is that there was a soldier I did not see?
              Rones said:

Grr. PLEASE READ. My second post said this:
and the point I was originally trying to make anyway was that a train CAN turn on random passersby.
My point was NOT that you said farmers should farm in populated zones. I have *no* idea where you are getting that. I *agree* with you that farmers should avoid lower level players at all costs. I'm just trying to say because someone (maybe you) said otherwise that trains that are still aggroed onto someone can indeed turn on someone else who is not in the party and has not done anything other than wander by to gain aggro.

I swear. I'm going to give up just because it isn't getting read, anyway.
