    Yes why does that happen? I can never get my healing to go up at this lvl, i look at the cap and i am like 20 to almost 30 lvls behind in healing skill. Its even lower than my Enfeebling! >< I dont get it at all, i heal alot in parties and the most i got out of 4-5 parties ago was a 0.1 gain. Now when i plvled a RDM friend in Konschat, i got like 0.6 gain in a reletively short ammount of time using CureI. I noticed that sometimes my healing will go up more when the tank got hit hard and into red, and if no one else heals....and i heal a CureIII or something, it will go up by 0.1 sometimes(key word: Sometimes). Its rare to see it go up in an exp party even with red zone heals, but it seems to happen more than just healing when they reach yellow.

    So any ideas how to really raise healing skill? I dont have to plvl every lvl 10 WAR to raise it right..? -.-

      I get a lot more skillups when I cast heals on undead creatures to damage them than from healing players.

        I just cure through normal use and mine is about 225 now, plus 15 or whatever from my AF.

        I don't really see why having my healing at 240 even helps me at all, but whatever.

        Most of my skillups come so randomly, like no skillups for 3 hours, then randomly i'll go up 1.5 in a fight.

          lvl 32 whm, and still useing cure1, never been questioned about it, and i figure the more cures i cast the better chance of getting skillups (not exclusivly useing cure1 mind u,, but those mandy's are wimps)

            The only thing I can see is that the Healing skill's healing raise ability is factors in the entire parties HP. So if you have 6 party members with 600 HP then the total is 3600 HP if you use Cure II 5 times in the time span then you recovered about 400 HP so then (400/3600) = 0.1111. But when you recover a player by powerleveling then the HP total drops drastically, so now the 1 player is 600 HP and you heal him 400 HP in a fight then (400/600) = 0.6666.

            Of course that's simplifying it but it's probably governed by something along those lines.

                It was sorta both actually, i never really understood how i did more CureIIIs in multiple parties and only getting 0.1 skill up, whlie in 15 minutes healing a newb with CureI, i get a 0.3 or more. But i thank you for the thread on healing skill, i think i will camp Shakrami helping them kill Ghouls/Undead and raising lowbies for abit sometime.

                That really does seem plausible to me, especially when people say that when they do attack the undead with Cure, it raises faster, maybe because damage is not counted as healing distributed to the party. Thanks for this insight, it really explains a bit.

                  a whm i know tried to cap her healing. she goes skilling up with me sometimes. while i'm meleeing the mobs, she's spamming her cure Is on me and she has said that it goes up fairly quickly but while we're leveling, despite all the cure IIs and IIIs she uses, she gets almost no skill ups. even using cure IIs and IIIs on me while i'm skilling up gets her little skill ups. when i'm leveling my whm sub, my healing skill has almost always been maxed because even now, i use pretty much only cure I. just a regen + cure I spam and the tank never drops into the yellows.

                  not exclusivly useing cure1 mind u,, but those mandy's are wimps

                    I don't know the standard formula for in-party gain on this sort of thing. I can however tell you that with all forms of casting, when casting on a target that is outside your party you get a 1.5x chance of gain, this is why your ability goes up faster when PLing outside of party or cure nuke of an undead target. This works with all forms of magic.

                        where did you get this info?
                        curing an undead target makes your cures act like nukes...and just like nukes, it levels the corresponding skill very quickly. i haven't noticed my healing skill rising faster casted on other people nor my enhancing skill.

                        Guess that doesnt help Enhancing now does it?
                        if thats true, sure it does. protect, shell, and haste can be casted on people outside of the party.

                            Yeah it works with enhancing too. I boot my tanks while we build parties and spam protect 1 on them. As opposed to my other method of macro'd barelement, there is a huge ammount of gain for minimal mp cost. I don't remember where I heard it, odds are it was my static party redmage. It has held true for ages, so I max my healing every level by PLing friend's subjobs to 20, currently working on maxing enhancing as well.

                              This has never been a problem for me with my old character. Guess it goes with my natural style with this job. Healing was always capped.

                              Right now with my new character, my healing is 54. Hasn't been capped yet, since I've leveled faster than I had to heal as much.

                              True though, cureI causes more skillups than II and III.
