  • Question about Charging for Teleports

If this has already been asked, I apologize.

I was curious as to what the usualy policy on charging for teleport were?

    Most commonly I see:

    {Teleport-Mea}{Teleport-Dem}{Teleport-Holla} 500G
    {Teleport-Yhoat}(Teleport-Vahzl}{Teleport-Altep} 1000G

Now, are those prices per TELEPORT? or per PERSON?

e.x. I have a group of 6 people with no WHM and I want to get teleported to Altep Crystal. Obviously this will require the WHM to make 2 trips. Should I pay 2000 gil for the 2 teleports? or 6000 gil for the 6 people?

Just curious what the standards are when dealing with random people for teleports.

Per person. You are not offering your MP pool as a service. They don't care what amount of MP you spent to cast the spell. You are offering time. You are receiving gil for saving time for each person you teleport. Of course, it is up to the Whm to offer discount or even just tele for free.

Usually when I pay for teleports each person gives 500-1000 gil.

If someone asks for a teleport I quote the standard price, which is 500 for crags, 800 for Yhoat/Altep and 1000 for Vahzl and it's up to them to assume whether I mean per person or total. If a party of five want to be Tele-Vahzl'ed I don't have it in me to ask for 5k, it's too much to ask because I know other WHMs in the area will charge less, and it'll make me look really bad to ask that much. But if they're offering that amount in the first place then bring it on.

I will generally charge 500 per person. It's a reasonable price, especially for the service they are getting.

Personally I charge 500 per person for Holla, Mea, Dem. I don't have the other three just yet so I don't have a policy to share on those. However, in cases of full parties I offer a discounted bulk rate for groups. I'm still unsure about what I want to offer; possibly somewhere between 2000 and 2500 for a full party.

My rational is this, teleporting a full party is, in my experience, a rare think. More often than not I'm either teleporting a handfull of solo players at full price or I'm in the full party I'm teleporting, in which case the teleport is free.

A discounted rate for a full party (I accept no less than six for discounted rates) will more often than not spark in someone's memory and they will return to me for repeat service. I concider it an investment.

Play it by ear. My charges per teleport, on the rare occasions that I do it, are generally based on how much time they take out of my schedule - make me wait for a group, and you'll be paying per person. Nothing irritates me more than waiting 20 minutes for someone to "get ready" before teleporting after they've sent me a /tell. I can make much more than 500-1000 gil in 20 minutes doing other things.

I personally never advertise for teleport service, since I have many other sources of income, but if someone needs to get somewhere fast and asks me nicely, I'll take a few minutes out to help them.

If they happen to catch me when I'm actually headed out to the same crag, I generally won't charge them for it, as long as they don't slow me down.

I charge 500 across the board. I don't ask for 500 per person when I'm porting people already in a group. I just say 500 and they generally each give me 500. If they ask, I'll say per group not per person.

I wish I could turn off all my crystals while porting. I don't have the yhoat and altep crystals right now, and it's the easiest porting ever since I don't actually get ported with the rest of the group.

Have them stand near the mog house when you port. After your character throws up his hands run into the mog house (or through any zone) and you will go to that zone instead of teleporting with the others.
