  • Taru 50 equipment(ring, earring)

    I've found and bought some decent equipment for all my slots cept for fingers and earring.. there dun seem to be any decent one around?

    SO far my earring : Enchancing +5mp+5hp
    Mp2 earring, thought of mp4 but bah 2mp diff?

    Fingers : Bomb ring( thought some extra hp boost and def is good since taru is very weak)
    Sandy ring(def2,mnd1str1)

    Is there any other decent rings or earring around i can't imagine lvl 55 still using lvll10 mp earring and lvl 1 sandy ring

    I've thought of getting the def10 ring which might be more useful than sandy ring but yet for 25k i'm not sure is it worth it coz whm ge hits yes... but usually quite rare.

    I'm still wearing electrum rings. +40 mp is always useful in a emergency or to fill up in those occasional times you get to max your mp during a break. I've never noticed a need for more def or hp really. HP:702 mp:593

    As for earrings, I can't find anything beyond enhancing either. :sweat:

      I use an Electrum Ring and a MND+2 ring (can't remember the name, Lv10 equip though I think). I've been hanging out to get an Aquamarine Ring (MND+3 and Water+5) but everytime I get the cash together there's never one for sale.

      Earrings, well there's not a lot on offer. I use an Enhancing Earring and a Night Earring (I think, it's MP+4 Dark+4). Am I the only one who's really confused by the fact that earrings which only give MP+4 or MP+5 can cost upwards of 30k?

        From 40 I would use 2 Electrum rings, or Astral rings if you have them. Thats 80 more mp.
        61 whm, 66 blm, 37 smn, 24 rng, 14 rdm, and the rest are all still pretty low. :p

          ...uhh...

          Electrum Rings are +20MP/-20HP.
          Astral Rings are +25MP/-25HP.
          Serket Ring is +50MP/-50HP.

          Where do you get 80 MP out of this? =P
          (I do agree though, these rings are probably your best bet at 40+)

            Ha thats funny I just pruchased 2 new Rings adn 2 new Earings

            2 * Electrum Rings (of course)
            1 * Enhancing Earings
            1 * Black Ring (Siren, 5K, MP +4 Dark Resistance + 4)

              From 40 to now at 54 I have used the same as Dux, two electrum rings, enhancing earring and black earring.
              I don't worry about hp much, because my def is so low hehe. If you're worried about dying, the 20 extra mp from one electrum ring can be used to cast blink. More mp = more defense, more everything.

                Ahhh true.. more mp = blink beats that extra hp.. i never thought of that this way.

                Think i'll change to those -hp/+mp ring instead and remove my lvl 1 sandy ring. Thks

                    At 49, I have:

                    2 x Sphene Earrings
                    1 x Turquoise Ring
                    1 x Peridot Ring

                    With all this equip, I have about 600 mp at lvl 49 with BLM sub. I imagine that's probably less than you're looking for, but as an Ex-EQ player, I tend to value resists more than I probably should.

                    With this setup, (tropical shield and purple ribbon), I have 19 v Earth, and 12 v Air. I find this to be very helpful in resisting stone based status effects (Petrification, Bind), and the ever popular air-based Silence. Considering it's my job to take all these off, the party seems to prefer me being somewhat resistant to them.

                    If you're set on making sure you have the hp/def to resist things, maybe you'd be better off:

                    1. Dialing the cure spell down a notch or two and chain-casting a lower level version for less aggro in battle. You have to cast more, but the lower levels seem to have less aggro built in. (Note: I don't have Cure IV yet, though I'm familiar with it's drawbacks).

                    2. Either getting a new tank, or working out with the current PLD when each of you will be healing. I like to keep my pallys in the yellow so they can launch Cure IIIs on themselves to keep aggro. Right now, I don't seem to catch aggro in battle unless I really blow the cure timing. But then I also do all the party's Paralyzes and Slows at the start of battle, I suppose that helps.

                    3. Look at your VIT score. Tarus have really crappy Vit, especially mages. Raising this stat would make your current hp allotment count for more. You don't get any extra hp, you just lose less of it when you get hit with higher VIT. VIT stuff is relatively cheap on Diabolos, if it's like that on your server it might be worth experimenting with.

                    I'd probably agree with the other posters in this thread though, boosting mp so you have an extra blink or two will probably be more worthwhile to you. I'll have to see when I level up some and start facing the same stuff you're dealing with.

                      Here's what my wife's WHM wears (Taru, lv50 WHM, sub BRD or BLM depending on party configurations)

                      2 x Electrum rings +40MP
                      Electrum Hairpin (may upgrade to gold) +25MP
                      Enhence Earring +5MP
                      Black Earring +4MP
                      Holy Phil +9MP
                      Mage's Sandle +3MP
                      Blessed Hammer +10MP
                      Devotee's Mitts +8MP

                      Tct. Magician's Coat
                      Wool Slop
                      White Cape
                      Druid's Rope
                      Fish Scale Shield (though of upgrading to Holy Shield, but we are going for dark and light staves instead)


                      Even though taru has low HP and high MP already, we still felt that our party benefits a lot more if she has more MP instead of HP. So we went all out on +MP gears.
