light staff has one major advantage over a healing staff....a healing staff is ugly as sin. in all seriousness, if i owned a healing staff i would never wear it in town. not that i have 2mil gil to spend on it anyway. :sweat:

the elemental staves lower the cost of summoning avatars by -2 the +1 elemental staves lower the cost by -3.

healing staff isn't worth it, if you have 2mil-- get a vermillion cloak.

Vermillion is 3.2 million though, whereas a healing staff provides 50 extra mp and is "only" 1.8mil. Considering that with a dark staff, refresh, and mushrooms I can often get full mp even chaining 5, I'm thinking the 50 extra mp is a good bet. The - emnity from full AF also is a good sell.

I'll admit I'm torn though. On the one hand I hear from people with vermillion who still use AF for regular xping, and vermillion only while resting. On the other hand refresh sounds good. It's so slow though from when I've seen it in party.

from what I've seen of vermillion....all I can say is that I'm not impressed. I honestly think that it's only designed for smn's, as it helps reduce the upkeep cost of avatars (as if they left them out to fight... ; ; ), as 1 extra mp/tick really isn't that much by the time you get it. I guess every little bit helps, but, I partied with a blm that had full af, vermillion, and dark staff. I have ice staff, and at the time, dark staff (borrowed a friends to see if it lived up to the hype...can almost afford my own now). He really didn't ever have access to more MP than I did...so I don't see how I could justify spending 3.2 million gil on a nearly useless (imo) item. The only application I could see it used for would be for BCNM60. I'd still switch to AF everytime I cast sleepga II though...but the +1 mp/tick might add some sort of endurance...although I find that any time I need MP, I can either aspir it out of one of the mobs, or just sit down and rest.

If you have 3.2 million gil, get yourself a lightstaff and a dark staff, then invest the rest in getting erase, serket/vivian rings, some uber earrings, holy ampulla, etc. Or maybe deck out your sub...or invest that into a craft so you'll be more attractive to HNM ls's...

Would subbing smn and just vermillion post 50 prove to be a much bigger draw than your average AF set?? (for whm at least)

i owned dark staff and light staff but had enough money to get vermillion if i sold my elemental staffs so i ditched em for vermillion. and i dont regret it one bit :D

i love my constant refresh and it stacks great with refresh or ballad. beats having to sit down and change to dark staff. that was my biggest pet pieve with dark staff, i had to med for it to be of any use. cant wait til i have enough money to get a dark staff again though, even less down time :D

dont knock vermillion til you've worn one^^

Still torn on Healing staff vs Vermillion though. Considering I just got my AF BP though, I think I want to enjoy it for a good 5-10 levels. ^^ Even if it is sorta common, I look great in it.

lol I just noticed that there are a bunch of bismarck whm's on this forum. Most of the other boards (thf, bst, brd) have very few ppl from our server talking.

a vermillion cloak would be a great alternative to whm AF i think, til noble's tunic. i've only seen the tunic on players, there has been no records of sales of this thing at jeuno AH on my server. any other servers have it? also, how much does it cost?

I've only seen a Noble Tunic once. Never for sale, nor was the key ingredient, shining cloth ever sold. That tunic is godly for a whm, but seeing as its main ingredient is a King Behemoth drop it'll be 75 if ever before I get one. ; ;
