Whm Equipment

I just started working on a whm currently level 10. Red will be my main but I decided I'd get my sub near 25-30 so I don't have to worry about it for a long time.

My main questions is how much I can expect to spend on gear and spells up to level 30.

I know I should possibly level blm but I usually only play 1-3 hours a night so I don't have a considerable amt of time.

up to level 30 gear is really cheap... probably the only thing that may actually cost some decent gil are wands... but even around the mid 30s they typically cost less than 10k on my server... actually i think the highest is 7k on my server.

spells will cost you more gil but only once you get into the 20s. the first expensive spell (that is if you do not have a reliable farming method) is regen which is 4k-5k in mhaura. after that its just raise that is a NEEDED spell. you can do past 30 rarely using cure 3 (at level 39 now and still have only used cure 3 in emergencies.. none of which were before 30).

i still haven't gotten stoneskin but i'm sure its useful for farming.. ~8k depending on fame in windy. its really once you get into the mid-high 30s that spell start to cost more than a stack of silk :sweat: ...

combined they cost +30k on my server (maybe... probably... more.. i don't remember the exact costs for them)


at the pre-20s spells are cheap..... don't complain... i learned what "expensive" is from the NIN in my LS.... and my own lvl 40 shopping list.

Spells up to 30 - approx. 35k-40k? Depending on your server's AH prices for stuff like Sneak, Invisible, Deodorize (which aren't too expensive anyway). Essential spells included Regen, Raise, Cure III (although not going to be used for awhile), Cursna, Protectra II, etc. The plural versions are not needed, but you might as well pick them up if you want to cast it on people outside of your PT (they're expensive though).

Equipment wise, you can probably get away with just wearing Doublet set (lv10), and a few +MP (Onyx Earrings, 4-5k each?) and +MND (Saintly Rings, 4k each?), Silver Hairpin (+15MP), Friar's Rope (+MP, +MND, Quested) till 30 and then quest for your RSE equipment. Early wands (+MND/INT) are chump change.

Stoneskin (8-9k) is useful for farming, like Rawls said.. but not really needed.

I am contemplating purchasing a Priests Robe for 20k, but I might hold off on this in favor of RSE, my Mnd is up to +12, and I can boost it another point by ditching the Hairpin for my Travellers hat.

I'm on Bahamut so things are a bit more expensive than I would like.
Thank you though I was just curious nothing seems that overly exprience and I have about 50K laying around to use and if I'm desperate I can sell of my level 30 mnk equipment.

Yes I saw how expensive mnk equipment gets around 40 and that turned me off for a bit so I switched to mage.

Don't be fooled, WHM is no cheap class to play. The spells you need at lvl 35+ are all very expensive. As you are only playing this as a sub you won't level past 37 so I guess its not gonna be too much of a problem.

Stick with WHM all the way to 37 in one go. It has very distinct benefits to you. For example, its extremely easy to quest with a WHM/BLM and I have done many quests using sneak / invis / teleport and Warp that would be impossible for another non WHM class to complete until much much higher levels (In the order of 15-20 levels higher). This in itself is a great source of money and spells.

heh thanks ming for pointing out protectra 2... yeah that is really the first spell over 6k that you would need...

but my gear compared to helltaru's was fairly gimped untill i hit level 38 and 33...

until i switched to my holy maul (lvl 38)....

i plan on switching to my RSE (at least the gloves and hot pants) if I could get some higher level people to help with the key droppers. Too bad the high level SAM in my LS won't help :dead: .... guess i'll have to convince the only other high(er) (than me) lvl people in my LS (RDM in the 40s, THF in the low 40s WHM/DRK in the high 40s... this person has both WHM and DRK higher than me... he isn't a WHM that subs DRK... and a lvl 62 WHM)...

i'm not sure how expensive MNK is at lvl 40 but i think most of the classes get a nice $$ jump at lvl 40 and WHM is by no means an exception... Besides the spells i mentioned in my previous post i also need Electrum Hairpin/Ringsx2, Holy Breastplate, and the holy phial... this gear costs quite a bit... over 100k on my server (36k for the phial alone.. and another 36k for the breastplate as well).
