like posted above, it really can be a situational thing. if you have a paladin who knows what s/he's doing in your PT, you'll find your higher lvl cures arent needed as much as in other situations. Also divine seal can easily make a cure 2 act like a cure 3 if you want to save the magic and casting time etc. You'll get a feel for it quickly enough.

I switched up whenever cure II was maxed around lvl 24. Cure III I switched to at lvl 38 when it reached around 182 hp cured, which was more efficient than 2 cure IIs 2x24mp for 182hp versus 46mp for 182hp. Cure IV you want to avoid as much as possible. It is a little more efficient than cure III, but pulls way to much hate to make your main cure. So only a few a fight if you aren't pulling aggro from it. Idea is to use the most efficient cures possible while skirting the line of pulling aggro.

im in kazham (level 31) killing mandragoras and gobs in yhoator, and i use cure1 a lot while fighting the mandragoras, and a lot of cure2 when fighting gobs.. cure3 once in a while too, so its not just what level you are, its also situational

I still use cure 2 as my main cure at 54, interspersed with cure 3's as needed when bigger hits come in, so it's good for some time. Probably 3-4 cure 2's for one cure 3. It keeps my hate way down I think. I tried main cure using 3's and it was noticeably more hate I think.

A capped cure III does 191 hp for 46 mp, versus two cure II for 182 hp and 48 mp. Plus when comparing cure 1,2, and 3 you need only look at the hp cured, not the spell, to see how much hate is generated (with the exception of Cure IV that pulls extra hate). The thing is you can pull hate faster casting Cure III than Cure II since it allows you to heal so much faster, but if you cured with Cure III at the same rate as you did with you Cure II you would pull the same hate and be more mp efficient. I've used cure III as main since 38 to 50 without a single hate problem (except for flies in crawlers nest that forced me to cast curega, but never got more than a scratch from it). So try out cure III, just be aware if you cast it as fast as you do Cure II you will pull twice the hate.

"Plus when comparing cure 1,2, and 3 you need only look at the hp cured, not the spell, to see how much hate is generated "
I found that not to be true in my experience testing 3 against 2, but to each his own of course.
I also find 2 works well with a Paladin. I'm not going to let my paladin get down to 5-600 and then cure 3, when sickle slash and a crit could easily kill him before my spell goes off. However if I toss a 3 earlier, say around 7-800, that leaves him little leeway to cure himself and maintain hate well. Casting cure 2's when he rolls into yellow works well for me.
As far as efficiency, I'm more concerned with hate maintenance. A Dark Staff and refresh along with roast mushrooms make my downtime negligeable these days.Unleashed LS - http://unleashed.de.be
