TaruTaru WHM lvl 40-50 Armour Questions

Hi All.

I am looking for some advice about armour (all types) for WHM. At the moment I am still using the standard armours from the AH and they all look rather crummy. Any good armours etc to buy for WHM (image is moderatly important).

Lots of taru whitemages I know seem to be using Taru RSE until AF armor. I have it and I like the way it looks and gets me up to 400+ hp at level 34 with only the legs and chest piece. I'm going to be using it for a while myself.

I was thinking of doing RSE but I got the general impression that its not that usefull for a TaruTaru WHM. I would prefer to have the extra MIND / DEF instead of MP just in case things go south.

If I really must go through the RSE route I will but I would prefer to buy something (Holy Breastplate looking favourite at moment) with other good MIND boosting items.

I got quite a few CP points and am very close to Rank 5 (get it this weekend when my LS can help me) so I am interested in CP items as well that boost MIND.

LVL 40 grab holy breastplate with its 45 def. You can use that until AF or continue using it past AF if you like having the extra def. Its only about 50k on Quez. If you got money to burn also check out Divine(?) Breastplate with 50 def, costs around 250k though. 200k for 5 more. :sweat: About the best gloves I've seen for a whm are devote mitts with +5 mnd +8mp -4int. For taru pants, I can't really give advice since I'm using hume rse pants with the +32 mp. Solid wand with +5mnd and +5int is a very good deal for around 8-10k usuaully if you don't already have it (think its lvl 36).

Oh and not really part of armor, but 2 electrum rings and 1 electrum hairpin are handy for a +65 mp boost. Might want some taru rse with that though to offset the hp hit.

I've heard of taru whms doing it at around 42 without much trouble.

i went the pure mp route for my whm when i hit 40 2 electrum rings and every piece of armor gives mp at lvl 47 i had 705 mp 139 of it being armor lets see if i can remember what i had

AF1 hamer
frost shield
+5 mp range ammon ampolif cant remember the name
gold hair pin +25 mp
royal sqr tunic 10mp
devotte mittens 8mp
mantle that gives 10 mp lvl 43 i belive
lvl 41 boots that give 10 mp
electrum rings +20
+5 earrings
holy phial+8 i believe
adapte robe +8mp lvl 40
rse pants <--- dont think theres any leg mp
so thats 25+10+8+10+10+20+20+5+5+8+8 thats 139 mp i think there was more but that might of been with food from my expereince more mp is better than higher mnd i rarely cast debuffs anymore so my mnd skill isnt so important even with that i had like +17 mnd concentrating on mind gear i probably would of been +30 but like i said i had mp priorities more mp i had the longer we could chain with out worries we would pull 6 mobs before i was below 200 mp, rdm and brd help out with that but still thats 140 mp i had extra.

Yes.. i'll agree around lvl 40 def is quite important to me at least coz you dun find a perfect tank all the time and mobs hurt a lot.

I used to use RSE and stuff and i dun care about def, concentrating mainly on MND, HP and MP. Pretty wrong way to go... while my MND may be high, i found out even w/o much MND boost my healing hit the cap pretty much too... MP.. i'm a taru, so moderate boost is good enough to last a 4 chain even.. HP.. pretty useless when you have low Def coz mobs hurts and those extra boost can't really help.

I've change HP boost to def and i found i can survive more.
Lvl 40's gear for me.
Body - Holy armour - MUST GET!! heheh look cool
Legs - RSE is the best around but suxs with a white plate armour and a red pants for taru LOL... i got myself those white slacks instead. decent DEF, no stats.
Feet - Doesn't matter much i'm still using mage sandel.
Neck - holy phial ( best around IMO)
Head - Using those hairpin coz i like the cute haired looked and it boost my MP as well with low HP loss
Ring - One sandy ring and another Bomb ring (def2 with 17Hp i think to compliment my loss of HP from hairpin with def)
Back - Forgotten name... some piece with def and 10MP
Hand - doens't mater much i got some with def and MP stats.. those devotte stuff works too

For Pri and sec slot.. I'm using AF1 hammer and best DEF shield avai ( i think it's the best option out there )

--- I've hit 50 now so i've change my hat to a Tact hat def;16 and a holy shield(it rocks)... Current DEF at 51 is 245, think it's pretty OK. with around 660MP and 620 HP

Cheers guys, I now have alist of armour etc to get. I already have neough cash for the Holy Breastplate which I will be getting tonight.

Shame I am leveling my BLM to 37 before I start playign WHM again so its gonna be a while before I can actually use it.

At level 53, this is the equipment i have. I try to balance between MP+ gear and MND + gear. I have MND +21 and about 730 mp so heres my list of stuff

Head: Gold Hairpin +25 MP
Body: Holy Breastplate
Neck: Promise Badge
Ear: Enhancing Earring, Pearl Earring
Hands: Devotee Mitts +8 MP, + 5 MND -4 INT
Rings: 2 Electrum Rings +20 MP each
Back: Red Cape + 2 MND and INT
Waist: Druids Rope, +5 MP, +1 INT, MND, and CHR, spell interrution rate down 20%
Legs: RSE pants for HP
Feet: AF boots

Weopon: AF1 when not leveling, Rose Wand: +5 INT and MND
Shield: Holy Shield +10 HP and MP, +1 MND
