  • Best Sub job

Ok, I'm quickly coming up on lvl 30 as a WHM and I'm having a blast playing it. My question is what is the best subjob that I can take? Right now I have BLM at lvl 9. Should I continue to level BLM or go with something else?

    Thank you in advance.

Blm is the most functional. Blm lvl 17 warp being cast as sub for whm at 34 is very fun and useful with the teleports you get at 36. Also, the blm aoe spells make farming more entertaining.

I prefer summoner sub job (after you get Teleport Altep and level 50). In my opinion, the 1 MP refresh > all the BLM spells. You'll probably group with a RDM or BLM (or both), and they can cast BLM spells better than you can.

But this doesn't mean you shouldn't level BLM sub. It is still important. It's better to use it until level 50. But at the higher levels, if you group with another SMN, or if there is no one with main job or sub job BLM, then you should sub BLM (especially if you go to a dungeon.. Escape..)

It's all based on the situation. But from my experience, I have been subbing SMN most of the time. (Although, BLM sub IS "the standard")

1 MP refresh > all the BLM spells
Maybe you have over looked the BLM job traits. In some ways, Conserve MP works a lot better then auto-refresh and Increase Max MP.

Elemental Seal helps a bit when you need an enfeeble to land with better accuracy.

rdm enfeeble caps out over 20 higher than whms, I noticed after level 60 a lot of my enfeebles were resisted ( my enfeeble is capped out FYI ). WHMs shouldn't be debuffing later on.

Soon as you hit level 40 imo ( need blm with warp 2 ) swap subjob to smn ( max mp helps ), and use blm subbed if there isnt one in the party.

I had a dual wielding Whm/Nin in my pt b4....pretty interesting combo. Dual wield wands/clubs/etc and get double bonus...yummy!!

but I would not recommend thr combo tho' because it's not as useful as subbing blm or smn.

No, that's the level where a BLM sub becomes MUCH more valuable, a no-brainer really, because you get Conserve MP at 40WHM/20BLM. You get nothing special with a /20SMN sub. Max MP trait at /10SMN is only +10 MP. Otherwise the MP difference between /BLM and /SMN is only 1 MP/level. Not worth giving up /BLM. Subbing SMN becomes an option at level 50 WHM with Garuda, and even then it has no advantage over /BLM, it just offers different benefits. (The only exception to this I'd say is for Elvaan and Galka WHMs, who may need the extra MP.)

The great thing about BLM sub is that it offers good benefits every step of the way. It works well at every level and in every type of party.

Conserve MP....count how many times it kicks in a 4 hour exp sessions.

I got my smn to 10 recently and subbed it instead of my fully levelled blm, and I actually had more mp.

                ( 63 main ).

Its worth swapping to summoner as soon as you dont need warp, because thats about all your blm sub is there for, conveniance.

Conserve MP kicks in pretty often, it makes a difference. It's just hard to see unless you check normal MP cost vs actual MP cost every time you cast. From levels 40-50, that trait really has no equal. At any level, higher max MP is not as useful as more efficient usage of MP, and that's what Conserve MP is all about. If we were talking about WHM50+, then you can make the case that SMN's auto-refresh is a worthwhile substitute.

And check your math, Gryff... your /SMN10 sub didn't give you more MP than your /BLM31. It gave you about 25-30 MP less. If you had /SMN31, then you'd end up with about 45 MP more than /BLM31. And don't misinterpret what I'm saying: Higher max MP isn't a bad thing. But you give up some truly great abilities and traits for it.

Main reason why BLM sj is most wanted in a party is for conserve MP (which sometimes really..... RARELY work>< and sometimes is...... RARELY godly T_T for me a least) *And* Aspir/Drain (which is one a lot of NA whm rarely use/forget.. but very rarely use ;; too bad)..

Best sub always depend on your PT set up.. When there is no blm in pt, I won't switch to smn sub because I'd have to tele-altepa the party then I'd have to go to rabao and.. blah, no thanks x_X

I prefer a lot more SMN sub when we have rdm+blm in party because rdm (or even jp blm ) can always back me up when I support with avatars at different buffs/occasions/times.. I also love the +mp from smn sub ~ +mp will always be godly and +mind/int always sucky kekeke~

I find that whm's that use rdm sj are dumbs if it's not to use Dispell><

                    My opinion lah ~
