    Hello, I am new to the whole healing thing and I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions for me.

    I was grouped yesterday and the black mage told me that I am not suppose to keep everyone’s life full, just out of the yellow. Is this true? I taught it would be best to get the puller back to full life before the battle is over so that there is no down time.

    Is it better to rest and then fill the main tanks life up? Or fill it up and then rest?

    Should I be using Dia, paralyze?

    Are the Ba spell lines useful at my lvl?

    keep everyone's hp out of yellow

    keep the main tank reasonably white

    don't use banish
    observe the splendor of ping pong balls!

      Should I fill everyones hp before i rest after the battle?

            If I have a secondary healer on the team, I don't even Cure anyone besides the main tank unless they are in red.

            The reason being that every time you Cure someone, anyone, inbattle, you get hate. If you are curing all 6 people in your party, you will be pulling a lot of hate. This will make it harder for the tanks to pull the monster off of you.

            As far as enfeebling goes, I let the RDM handle them. I will cast Paralyze, and maybe Slow and Blind depending on situation if we don't have a RDM.

            Bar(element)ra spells are very helpful if you anticipate the monster using an elemental based special.

            Bar(status)ra are less useful, since they rarely have an noticeble effect.



            As for banish, it's not a good idea to cast it repeatedly for damage. You don't want any more aggro than you already have. However, you need to somehow keep your devine skill up. I sometimes cast banish near the end of the battle when we fight weaker mobs weak to light (worms)

              unless theres a brd in the pt cast regen to fill the rest of the HP to full unless they are -30 from max HP, then you'd cast a normal cure. Why? Regen one heals OT for around 120HP or so at the cost of 15MP. Cure II does 90 for 24MP.

              Main tank should be full HP reguardless, everyone else can slide a bit but manage to keep them white. Can't tell you how many times a BLM had yelled at me for not fulling healing him to full after battles.. what a moron.

              Generally if you need to heal your fighters it would be very wise to heal them first then sit. Doing the rather would result in more downtime.

                Main reason you don't heal much once they are in the white is you don't want to waste mp over healing. Such as if they are in the white and only missing 15 hp, throwing a cure 1 would waste 15-16 hp of healing. The exp your party earns is highly correlated with how well the whm manages his mp, so using it as efficiently as possible in those types of situations can bring in extra exp.
