i already have all my status spells. just wondering should i get erase, and exactly what can it do and what cant it do

It removes one negative status effect from an ally, example: slow, bio, etc.

Yes, imo, you should get it, but don't spend hundreds of thousands of gil on it at AH. Get it through a BCNM40 fight.

Think 'Attack Down' or 'Slow' on your melee-damage dealers. Or 'Evasion Down' on your tank. Erase can remove those and reduces the overall cost of battles (ie, less healing the tank when he doesn't have an evasion-down, and faster battles when your melee's are doing full damage).

Slow is easily countered by casting haste, and slow effect wont take hold if they are already hasted.
I guess if someone gets hit by gravity or something, but still...

Based on what ive been killing in crawlers nest,gustav and altepa so far - seems like theres no need for it.
Even if I had erase i'm not sure its worth the trouble to 'erase' stuff like 'evasion down' on your tank when the monster does it multiple times a fight.
That would be like doing poisona on your tank while they get poison sprayed by a crawler 3 times in 30 seconds...

i had a whm who had erase in my party. she would use it to get rid of negative status effects on the party. did it help any? not really...i had to backup heal whenever she erased the AE status attacks though -_-;;. i do see a few uses for this spell though, str down is pretty crappy...you'd probably want erase for that. don't beat urself up over it though, its one of those luxury spells (well, at least around 1-50). past that, who knows? it might eventually become the standard.

yeah, basically, i'm lvl 61 whm right now, only two spells i have left to really get that cost any money at all is erase and raise 3. other than that, my AF is done, all my gear is up to date, so i dont really have anything i'm saving for, so might as well blow my money on erase and complete my spells. doesnt hurt me any. was just curious what erase could do, i dont know any NA whm's that have it at all.

Yeah, Erase is pretty much a luxury spell IMO. I would go for it only if you've got an extra 400-500k gil lying around =P (that's the going rate at the Jeuno AH on my server anyhow, heheh).
