I will not use Haste if I am the sole healer in the PT and do not have any MP regen going on. It's impossible to keep a relatively decent chain going when you are hasting, curing, buffing, debuffing, etc. The down time is just horrendous.

Now, that being said, I really enjoy Haste. I like watching my PT members get excited (the ones who are melee) when they get hasted and complete skill chains a little better, hence the "feel-good" terminology. They all act like little children on christmas or something, haha.

    Goodbye everyone.

It's probably different for whitemages, but as a redmage I've gotten in the habit of throwing in a haste on the Paladin as part of my Refresh-rotation. Refresh and Haste have around the same cool-down and duration so they time together well. I do something like: Refresh self, Refresh Paladin, Haste Paladin, Refresh WHM, etc. The Paladins love it and I notice it helps them hold hate a little better.

You should cast Haste on more damage dealing PT members instead of PLD. PLD rather have Regen

I only haste damage dealers if there is another healer in the party and a paladin/ninja. If there is no second healer, I have to conserve my MP and if there's no "proper" tank, I will cast Haste on the tank replacement to make it easier for him to keep hate.

Linaaa, actually I do give haste to the damage dealers some of the time instead of or in addition to the Paladin. I'm still not sure the value of haste one way or the other. In Everquest, haste was much more important but then again it lasted a lot longer too. In FFXI its such a MP investment to recast every couple of minutes that keeping everyone with haste seems like a waste. I can visably see haste help the paladin keep hate, but I guess it could be argued that a good paladin wouldn't need the haste to keep hate in the first place.

As for not putting regen on the Paladin, I don't if there is a WHM in the party because they can Regen2 which is better.

I'm in a semi set PT similar to Linaaa's so I share her point of view.
PT setup: Pld, Thf, Rng.. *then we usually get whm, rdm, and either blm/brd/or drg depending who's available and willing.

In this setup, Rng's ws with Thf's SA+TA+WS is crucial in pulling off xp chains as well as hate control. Therefore, we always have haste priority at Thf>Rng>Pld *with Pld being last*

Once you see the dmg the sc+mb inflicts.. you'll know why thf and rng need haste to build 100% TP for the next pull.

                Exactly^^
I never haste PLD, first THF, RNG when I have enough time to spare.

                  My party lately has been:

                  PLD/SAM/THF/WHM/BLM/pick-up member

I always haste the Samurai, and leave the others alone. The whole point of a Samurai is to rapidly build up TP, and Haste allows this to happen even more rapidly. The Paladin doesn't do enough damage to make the MP expenditure worth it, and the Thief is tied more to timers than to TP build up (i.e. the timers on SA and TA). If I had MP regen, then I might consider hasting the Thief, but without it I don't bother.

An exception was the group last night. We had two BLMs in the party, and they'd trade off bursting Freeze on the beetles we were pulling. The creatures were dying quickly in any event, so I decided to conserve my mp as much as possible by only casting Slow, Regen II, and Cure III during the fights.
