Hello everyone...

Last night I had a good night in a excellent group. One of those rare occasions you get in a pick-up group and all works like youve been doing it for years. Anyway... we were out in Valkrum Dunes and I got to within about 400 of making level 17 and I also got all 3 parts for my subjob quest.

So I am pretty happy today (even though I stayed up way to late and Im very tired now). Anyway.... my question is...I have been hearing alot of conflicting reports about at what level you should go somewhere to hunt etc etc. Im based out of Bastok.

Should I keep getting groups out in the Dunes up to like 18 or should I be moving to somewhere else? Suggestions?

You can level in the Dunes until 20 or even 21 if you want. But you'll probably want to head to Jeuno at or near level 20, so you can do the chocobo quest and start leveling 20-24 in Qufim, which is connected to Jeuno.

You can go to Qufim earlier, however not many people do that from what I've seen, so your best bet at finding a party is there. There are other spots, such as Korroloka Tunnel, where you could level.... but Qufim is the "standard" choice, for better or worse. (Qufim is not a lot of fun.)

As the subjob quest is in Selbina, it is convenient to stay in the dunes until level 18, where you can hand your items in and get your subjob. Afterwards you are forced to go "home" to set your subjob in your Mog house. And if you haven't leveled your subjob yet, you need to do that now.

At level 20 you will want to Jeuno for your chocobo license. And Qufim is directly next to Jeuno, so many people go there afterwards.

From 18 to 20 is your choice. I stayed in dunes, killing beach pugils with a good group. At 18 it would be tough to get a place in a group in Qufim, but there are several other zones that would be appropriate. Try a /sea all 18 to find out where everybody else at that level hangs out.
