Starting out as a WHM from the start is one of the hardest things to do. Being a taru without any good armor/weapon is the worst. It definitly can be disheartning. I remember 2 taru WHM friends who PTed together for a long time till lvl 16, because they couldn't find anyone to lvl with at very low lvls(they didn't start out as friends first). They had tons of fun even though they didn't get hugh exp points. But because they were consistent with killing, they lvled up very fast compared to ppl who soloed. Of course they became great friends and didn't do anything without eachother. They even lvled their BLM the same way.
A PT of 2 at low lvls works very well. I did that for the most part myself until lvl 24. I've made some good friends and had fun while lvling.

A white mage should try to find a partner always. I tried to find partner from lvl 5up and asked every tank around if he wants to group. He kills the stuff and i heal him.... only a few refused to group. The exp is better (can kill even stuff) and there is little down time.

But i also remember when i was lvl 8 (in Bastok) i had a very very hard time killing crabs in front of dangul wadi. With my little club i was hardly able to do damage and when they used their spezial armor spell (can recall name) i hitted mostly for 0dmg. The lvl 7 monk beside me killed two of them in a chain befre he had to rest.

But, its getting better from lvl to lvl and once you hit lvl 12 you should have aboslutly no problems to find a party in valkum dunes. I often got invited the sec i put lfg flag on. Its getting harder again at lvl 33. While in valkum dunes - Qufim and Kahzam are mostly over 100 people at lvl 33 when you do a /sea all 32-36 there are together only 30 people online and 2 lfg (myself inclusive).

You dont need a partner, as in dont sit in town looking for one instead of killing stuff, its not difficult to get to lvl 10 solo, even as a whm, its one long day of playing or two medium days.

Find decent challenges you can do pretty much non-stop, when you get the money (not hard around windy) buy a hammer.

Around lvl 10 you can solo around the ent to throngi with your seek flag up...around 12 or so you can get a maze group, and from there on out you shouldnt have to worry about solo'in really.
