Are WHM replacable 60+?

It seems a few people have passingly mentioned that rdm + brd could substitute, or perhaps even be better than having a whm in party in later levels (60+?)? [Was mentioned briefly in one form or another on the BLM, DRK, and BRD boards. Perhaps even RDM]. The mage set up seems to be... BRD/RDM/WHM as ideal, but... gosh, no wonder someone in the RDM board termed us as the arch enemy. We fear losing our job to the other... :sweat:

Safe to say, I got alarmed and ran to the WHM board and, at least in recent threads, there have been no discussion of strategy and party formations/experiences at high level? I know below 60, WHM are still the heart of a party, that's not what I'm asking, guess I'm just wondering how it is for WHM in the late game.......

So I'm wondering how hard it is for WHM 60+ to get a party, especially with so many high level WHM existing in the servers. The impression that I'm getting so far, about party formations is BRD is the most sought after class for a PT, hands down, partly because they are few and are the gods of support. From what I gather, they are key to faster exp? So there is no argument there.

But it seems, it might be the case that RDM > WHM? Or is the reason no one mentions WHM because having one is default, so that no one even thinks about a party without one?

I may be wrong but my understanding is, white mages are very sort after at low and high levels. High level parties are still gonna need healing. lol.

Oh and on another note... Different jobs are more sort after than others depending on what server you go to. Some servers are crowded with whms and some have hardly any.

Most ppl who start off as whm usually switch to an advance job later on, usually depends on the server but i'll tell you from my experience they are usually never around when you really need them and are all over the place when you don't.

No rdm will not be able to substitute a whm cause quite frankly they are usually busy casting enfeeble spells + refresh. They practically have no time to constantly cast cure spells. Those who say they can obviously don't know the job very well.

No Brd will no be able to substitute a whm cause they don't have the MP to last through those long battles.

Both of these jobs play a totally different role in parties.

Its not RDM > WHM or WHM > RDM.. thats like comparing apples against oranges. They are two different things.

Let's not forget the curetanking Summoner. I've heard a combonation of Rdm/Blm, Brd/Whm, Smn/Whm can be very effective in parties.

I believe Whm will always be popular. Seems to be a good idea to make friends with someone who knows Raise 2 when you get to the highest of levels.

There are 5 mage/support jobs for 3 spots in a party, so everyone will get "replaced" at one time or another. There are lots of combinations that work well, and RDM isn't in all of them. RDM is a versatile mage, but they can't do everything at once. My understanding is that RDM and WHM work well together in the same party at high levels -- they don't cancel each other out. The RDM will be able to focus on enfeebling, refreshing, and nuking rather than healing. And as others have mentioned, when things get rough you'll want a WHM around to pick up the pieces. :sweat:

Several members in my LS group are always asking me what lvl my whm is cuz they need me to get around 50-60 to help them. In my server on the weekends there is around 2700 people online at the highest peak and only about 200 of those are whms. Sometimes there is even less. I know that in end game a brd and a rdm wont be able to equal the healing power that one whm can. Anyways, a whm gets spells like Protectra IV (i believe later on) and other party wide spells. When u get high high lvl groups they need a whm even more then before.
