  • High level's as a Hume/WHM?

I have been playing FFXI for about three week's now. I am playing as a Hume/WHM. I have been leveling in Qufim for the last three level's.

It feels like I am running out of Mana very fast. I have to rest every three or two battle's if I am the only healer in the party. There are alot lot of people in Qufim looking for Party's so I never seem to have a problem finding one, but I am wondering if at higher level's will I be left out of Party's alot for TaruTaru/WHM's?

I wish to get to a very high level and fight meny of the stronger boss's and go far in the game. But will people settle for a Hume/WHM at higher level's?

So if someone could shine some light on this issue for me I would be very thankful.

Definitely, if you level in Qufim, you usually see a lot of Hume WHMs running around in AFs at the Jeuno AH or anywhere else in Jeuno... but look in their inventory to find Electrum/Astral Rings, and other equipment items that gives bonuses to MP. Also, don't forget equipment that gives bonuses to MND :]

You definitely want to consider subbing another mage-type class, such as a BLM or RDM, if you haven't already. Every bit of MP counts when you're playing a race that isn't specifically tailored for WHM (well, Humes are pretty much adaptable to anything). At level 30/15, a WHM/BLM has 267MP, a WHM/RDM has 251MP, but a non-subbed WHM has only 225MP.. a difference of 26~42MP, could be a Cure II or two Regen spells.

Lastly, check on how you use your WHM spells. Are you using Enfeebling and Healing? Or just Healing? Keep in mind that when you're in parties, if everyone's health is in white, it should be okay for the moment; unless they're the tank or person keeping the hate. Be sure to cast Regen on the person that is tanking, since it's pretty much 15MP for 150HP gradually... very nice indeed, and you don't need to truly constantly cast Cure IIs if it's an easy monster, as the Regen pretty much "counters" the damage dealt by the monster.

Also, make sure that your Healing magic skill is pretty much always maxed. Cure caps at 30HP, Cure II caps at 90HP, and I'm not sure about Cure III, perhaps 200HP? It may not seem like much, but when you're Cure IIing someone for ~84HP, the remaining 6HP does add up, so it's ultimately a "waste" of 24MP...

Cure III cap is 180 and its 46mp to cast, -2mp less than 2 Cure II's which would heal 180. That 2 mp can add up :D

I found just the opposite, depending on the party and what we were hunting and how fast we were trying to chain. Make sure you have gear that gives +mp (hairpin, etc.) and keep regen on whoever needs it. For instance, one guy pulls, put regen on him. If a second guy is the primary tank, just give him a heal if he needs it while waiting for the delay on the regen. Once I got to 24~25, I consistantly had 3/4 MP at the start of every battle.

Also getting up your sub job is a good idea  which some people don't do.

Yes, this makes a HUGE difference. A lot of white mages I see tend to have less than 10 levels for their subjob. For each BLM subjob level, that's 2-3 MP. Of course, I'm just as guilty as anyone when it comes to not keeping my subjob at half of my main (did some hardcore leveling on my main over the weekend to 28/12).

I also saw a 25 WHM over the weekend that had no subjob. His excuse was that he never got his skull. WTF...
