Are WHMs needed later?

Based on the thread in teh main forum about choosing a bard or WHM later on i wonder if it is worth it to have a main WHM for the long run...so is it worth it?

They are always needed.

As the thread you were referring to stated, one whm is somewhat essential, but the question was if ANOTHER whm or bard would be the better choice.

Seriously though, as a lot of whm change to advanced jobs at 30, there are fewer at higher levels, hence the demand even increases.

I say that WHM is definatly needed all the time once the WHM hits level 11 (you will know why when you get more familiar with what is available at level 11).

I have learn through experience that starting out as a WHM is very very slow. Essentially everybody checks you out and then realises you don't have Cure 2 yet and then leaves you to struggle on your own.

Still, at level 10 I got my very first "Random Invite" to help some people level so I guess that I will be getting much much more of this very soon.

Go WHM (even if you do allegidly look like a goat-duck thing)

I have thought about moving away from the whitemage job a bit but eventually i stuck with it and its fun!!

Hang in there. Yes whitemages are needed at least 1 in a party to do mainly heals no matter the level. THe new spell "Flash" is pretty cool. It blinds the enemy and decreases accuracy greatly.

Ah ok thats cool to hear I didnt lvl up to like 40+ so i dont know if that lvl needed a WHM especially with that thread's comments, so thanks guys. ^^

WHM is not always essential unfortunately. Later on in the game alot of groups will prefer a red mage over a white mage as the main healer. With refresh and convert they have little to no down time. A whm has nothing that hastens their down time like a red mages. But for BCNM fights you still want to bring WHM.

Keep in mind, that as you level healers become more and more rare. A whm will rarely have troubles finding a group, even if another class is ideal for the situation, they arent always available.

heh, WHM are always picked at high levels they arent picked as fast as a RDM with refresh or a bard. BRD's get into parties faster than WHM (Damn it I want bard ><!)

wrong... party will always go for whm for raise2 and 3, and whm is a better cure tank than rdm... rdm is a refresh whore... and that's it
at high level (i mean 68-72) there are probably more whm than blm + rdm + brd added together

For a long long time I always wanted to be a WHM, but I started with a RDM...then the days of reading a forum came along. Then I started to read ALL the negative comments about RDM. So I really wanted to trash my level 9 RDM and get a WHM so I can get more party invites. But I've come to learn that RDM will be really really good later on. So I'm just being patient and leveling as fast as I can. The WHM still gets picked over me at level 16, but still parties are starting to realize how important my enfeebles are to the matches we face at the dunes. So I get some invites. To tell you the truth level your WHM, everyone loves WHM, RDM's love WHMs thats becasue... Red Mages are White Mages Best friends! Together RDM and WHM are like a nonstop healing power house. WHM will always be in demand if there is a RDM with Refresh in a party. Plus if your a WHM you can help low levels power level or help the poor level 16's like us get a raise once in a while . Anyways this game is about what you wanna do not what not what others want. If your a good WHM and you do your job well people will befriend you add you to LS and the whole works and you'll get a lot of invites before you even flag, so keep leveling your WHM its always nice to wonder how a WHM got past level 70 hehe
