LvL 7 WHM ~ gear

Im still in the lvl 1 armors I startd with. I have a wand thats 3dmg 218delay with +2mnd and something else to it. I also bought a lvl1 shield, starts with an L, forget the name of it off hand. I have every spell, I think, that I can have up to my current lvl. Should I be upgrading my gear yet? If so, to what? If not, then when exactly? Thanks for any help. Soloing right now as a whm is really bleh.

Only thing you really need is a better hammer, your current one isn't all that good for soloing. Fill in slots you don't have armor in. Other than that I find lvl 1 armor good enough to reach level 11 where you really should upgrade. A robe is a cheap upgrade for at least 1 extra def.

Ty for the response, what type of hammer would you recommend? I've seen several available at various times.

Just go to the AH, sort entries by level and pick the one with lowest delay divided by damage (ie, a 10dmg100dly is better than a 10dmg150dly).
I think a Bronze Hammer is best at 7 although I'm not certain.
Bronze Hammer is 8dmg/324dly (40.5 ratio) and your current is (72.7 ratio) ie almost twice as good.

At 12 you should upgrade to a Brass Hammer for soloing, it has a ratio of 25 which is good enough for killing 72exp mobs at 12-14.

I'm currently a level 10 white and just upgraded my armor to a Royal footman tunic which is great but before I got that, I had a robe which wasn't too bad. As for the weapon, I had the Ash Pole which I found was pretty good damage but the delay is fairly slow but it was pretty good. I also bought a cape that gave me a little bit of defense. Make sure you cast Protect on you it will give you 10 extra defense. At level 10 you will be able to get the Royal Footman Tunic for 1000 conquest points which I found out after buying it. Hope this helps.
