....macroing Cure II in NA version!

I dont know why...but i just cant get it to work! All my other spells macro like they should but this one refuses to.

For cure 1 i use the macro "/ma Cure" with my target selected, and it works fine...so i tried to apply this to cure 2 like so:

/ma CureII .... and that gives me a command error, if i seperate it so it looks like this /ma Cure II it will cast cure 1, if i start adding targets to the macro like so: /ma CureII <t> ...i get a command error.

If i substitute "II" for a "2" in any of the above cases its either a command error or it casts cure 1 as appropriate....whats more interesting is no matter who i ask for help they are either just as stumped as me, or they are japanese/import players that either barely understand my problem or start putting symbols in the macro that standard NA keyboards cant even make!

Im frustrated to no end and if anyone can help me find the way to make this macro actually work ill lub joo forever!

I think its case sensitive, this is how my macros are exactly.
If you are missing a space between 'cure' and 'II' you get an error. Quotes around the spell name are needed always iirc.

You guys know about party macros, right?

You two know about <p1> through <p5>, right? Very usefull, targets the first to last person in your party (excluding you). I have 7 cure macros, one for myself, one for everyone in my party, and one for <t>.

And yes ive heard about, and tried using <p0-5> but i prefer to choose my targets with the f1-f5 keys and have a wider selection of spells easily accessible rather than taking up numerous macro slots with the same spell.

There are quite a lot of slots though. Hold control or alt and press the down arrow (or just mouseover them in macro editor and press down)

Selenitic, did you read the thread? Navia points out in the second post that quotes are required around the spell name.

In fact, quotes are required around all spell names that are more than one word.

for macros..

/ma "Cure II" <t> or <me> can also be done.. you need the "" and you also need the capital letter.. Basically write it as how its written in your magic list.

I personally do not use the <p1>-<p5> so I use the F1-F6 keys, and Ive gotten used to it through beta and can stand my ground as a whm with it. Alliances.. well thats a different story.

for pt spells like Protectra Bar****ra or even Curaga you can do,

/ma "Curaga" <me> or <t>


For other enhancing spells like Haste,

/me "Haste" <t>


I never use <me> for my macros only except for job abilities..
/ja "Divine Seal" <me>
/ja "Benediction" <me>

because with <t> I can just target myself with F1 easily.

In my experience also (mainly as a redmage, but could apply to a whitemage), if you want to use something like Cure II on a specific person (other healer, the tank), you have to put both the spell name and their name in quotes, or it fails. Don't have to do with that spells that don't have spaces

I use <st>
I have a macro for each different cure...they look like this:

/ma "Cure" <st>
/ma "Cure II" <st>
/ma "Curaga" <me>

(I haven't tried Curaga with <st> but I figure it'll work if you're the sort to cast curaga on a group of people away from you.. sometimes a situation would require this)

I found this to be my preferred way of setting it up..
This allows you to select your target (party member most likely) with the F-keys, EVEN when in battle mode (if it's one of those fights where you feel like whacking the enemy with your stick for 2 damage)

I hit the macro, hit the appropriate F-key to select the appriopriate party member, and hit enter/accept/whatever and the spell casts...

F1 = always yourself
F2-F6 = Party members, starting from top of the list, right under yourself, to the 6th member.
F7 = always yourself also. I think F1 is based on the party, while F7 just means select yourself..
F8 = selects nearest NPC. Very handy sometimes.
