  • White Mage Newbie Armor? :(

    I started a Hume White Mage in Bastok and I started leveling and all that. Once I got some cash, I was hoping to buy some armor. All I've found so far, is a another weapon and a shield. I can't seem to find any actual armor. If anyone can tell me where to get some...or when exactly I get my first pieces (not including what you start with ) I would really appreciate it :D

            yori, I just did this yesterday so let me try to help you out. When you go the the auction house and select the item that you are interested in hit [enter] and another menu will open with the option to bid. Another option in the same menu is called "price history" or something like that... can't remember exactly but I think that's it. Anyway, select that and it will give you a list telling you what that item sold for most recently. That will give you a good idea of what you should try to bid. I picked up a lvl 1 Robe, lvl 4 Bronze Mace, Dia and Paralyze at the auction house. I love that place!

              The Auction House is really useful once you get the hang of it - and it has taken me a while so don't feel embarassed :sweat:

              Choosing "Buy" menu, then "Armor" shows you the types of armor available. Within each menu, items that have names in yellow are items you can equip and use right now at your current level and job.

              I started out with the following beginner armor:

              Feet = 1
              Leg = 2
              Hand = 1
              Body = 2

              I took a look at the Head Menu and found "Circlet" which you can use from level 1. Choosing "Bid" and then "Bid History" showed me that it was going for around 200 gil, so I entered a bid for that and got one

              I also got a "Robe" with 3 armor for the Body. I think that was around 500.

              I couldn't find anything else that was useful and cheap. There are often +1 items like "Robe +1" which is 4 armor instead of 3, but they costs thousands of gil so I didn't think they were worth the investment.

              In the White Magic section, there are a few scrolls that you can start using at lat a low level. There is "Dia", which I didn't buy because I don't know what it is, but it was somewhere around 500-700g. I did pick up level 4 "Paraylize", which I love and was only 200g. This spell makes the target have a chance each 'round' of not being able to attack, and seems to work much better on some monsters than others.

              I also got a "Maple Wand" at the magic weapon store - I think it was around 100 gill and gives a +1 to intelligence and Mind, so it's a handy thing. In Windhurst, the magic weapon shop is on a boat in Port Windhusrt (8H). The same wand was on sale in the Auction House, but for more money than buying it from the NPC's store.

                Dia is a nice spell for beginners, when you cast it, it deals a small amount of damage(like 2) and then acts as a poison for a while, slowly takes away their hp

                      Wow. Maybe I should buy stuff from the NPC merchants and resell them on the auction house. You guys are getting insanely ripped off. You do know there are NPC merchants who sell spells and armor for less than what you paid, right? In Windurst they're on the pier of Port Windurst. I don't know where they are anywhere else, but it's worth looking..

                        Remeber White Mages aren't rich at the start we are so poor so you can use a robe you'll be fine but I suggest a Doublet I wont be interested in 'Pretty' Armor or stuff like that I am really into Scrolls I find that more important because when ur in a party you wont be getting touched becase you'll have a good provoker (Rarely found in my server :mad: ) If you have two warriors or even three in your party you'll be fine and barely be touched by a monster so scrolls first armor later ... but this is just my opininon :sweat:

                          rico I don't know what you're talkin about man. I started as a whm and I am finding extremely easy tog et money. I've got about 7k and a ton spells some furniture. Although I have done a lot of quests. But the key thing to do is learn how to use the AH because it is your best friend. You can sell everything for more money there than at an npc vendor. Also if you wanna wanna know what's teh best gear for you at your level, just go to the amour section at the AH and sort it by level and then just go down until you find something in your price range.

                          PS.
                          Anyone else finding it ridiculously hard to level from 8 onwards?

                            Money flowed for me. Have signet and sell everything you loot in the ah. I hit around 40K in about 5 days. To find the best armor you may have to travel. I went to San D'oria to get my whm lowlevel armor. It's the royal something or other. I made my money and first 10 levels in Bastok. And I bought most of my spells from Windhurst. It takes about half an hour to get from one city to another on foot. I am currently doing the quests in Windhurst because they have the best rewards for whm. Oh, and whenever I return to Bastok, I take along copies of lowlevel spells and make a huge profit selling them in the Bastok ah, because on my server Bastok is last in the conquest race, so items are rare and people don't like to travel.
