help on white mage plz

i am in american and am going to get the pc version of ffXI and want to make a white mage. my friends and i are already excited and are thinking of chars, i figured i dont want the hour wait for my friends to get chars back after they die, so imma be a mage. i was wondering what race/stats and things i needed to be a good white mage, or if i should be a summon/white mage subjob char. any help would be appreciated.

Well you can't configure your stats so you are all set there.
As suggested, Tarutaru's make the best magic users so it wouldn't be a bad idea to be a Tarutaru, but then again they don't have as much HP as other races, but just do whatever you want, have fun with it.

As for your subjob, it seems that Black Mage is supposed to be the best one for White Mage, I don't know about Summoner though, Nadyxes posted some advice on those classes somewhere in this forum though.

Yes, you can go back to your home point after you die, or you can choose to wait and see if a White Mage with the Raise spell will maybe walk by and raise you. But you can only wait for one hour and then you will be automatically taken back to your home point. I also think that if you chose to wait and you changed your mind that you could still go back to your home point before the hour is up.

However, if you are a long way away from your homepoint it might be a long walk to get back to your group.
