  • White mage and Mind stat Question

hello everyone, first i would like to say thank you for taking the time to view this post, anymeans, i was wondering, how important is the stat Mind for a white mage? if it is a necassary trait, i was thinking about making a white mage/red mage or a white mage/summoner (for mp boost) and being an elvaan, with these two builds it is possible to get a Mind over 80 with the level cap the way it is, but still im unsure if Mind is a necessary trait for a white mage.again thank you for taking the time to view this post.

    stay safe always

I think Mind is only your Magic Defense and has nothing to do with your curing ability, which is controlled by your skill with healing magic. But I could be wrong.

INT is the Power of your Blm magic ...
MND is the "power" of your Whm magic

MSN has NOTHING to to with magic Defence !!!

        MSN?
Yeah, as ShadowHeart said, MND is responsible for the power of your curing magic, not INT. INT deals with magic attack and magic defense. I guess by the same measure, high MND would mean drain does less damage to you, but I can't be sure about that.

Are you guys sure that MND still affects the power of healing? Because after having read this earlier I'm confused.

The required MPs for casting "Cure III," "Cure IV," and "Cure V" have been adjusted. Also, the amounts of time required to cast and re-cast "Cure II," "Cure III," "Cure IV," and "Cure V" have been changed. The enmity factor received for casting "Cure V" is no longer based on the amount healed, as is with the other "Cure" spells. Finally, the potency of all "Cure" spells is now directly affected by the caster's healing magic skill level.
This excerpt came from the PlayOnline website, and it says that healing is based on healing magic skill level.

I've played a WHM up to level 17, and I can tell you that both healing skill AND MND affect the potency of healing spells, to a point. All the cure spells I've gotten so far have a "cap", or an upper limit, that you can't go past.

Cure 1 has a limit of 30 hp(33 on light day, 27 on dark day)
Cure 2 supposedly has a limit of 90 hp. I've gotten mine up to 85 hp at level 17. I have something like +11 MND now, though, and I'm Elvaan . . . heh heh

Not sure about Curaga but I'm guessing it may cap at the same level as Cure 2, i.e. 90 hp of healing(per person)

If MND is not responsible for Magic Defense, then why would it reduce the amount of damage taken from Drain? Could you explain that?

And INT determines magic defense? Man, that stinks. For Elvaan. heheh

On a side note, MND also seems to be affecting the raw power of my other white magic, including stuff like Banish and my enfeebling magic(Paralyze and Slow in particular). I find that my spells don't get resisted a lot as compared to other WHMs with whom I operate.

Oh, is Banish capped, too? I've got it up to 36 damage and my Divine skill isn't even close to being maxed out for my level. I have a hard time to find an excuse to actually use it on a target that would raise the skill. I use it to interrupt goblin Bomb Toss attacks if I can, and against weak(er) things not worthy of Slow or Paralyze or Silence if I have a lot of MP and my party is in good shape near the end of the fight.
