I remember reading somewhere that the healing power of a white mage's spells are determined by the MND stat or something like that. I looked at the stat calculator and tarutarus actually have pretty bad MND stats, lower than humans. I think elvans actually have the highest MND stat. Isn't this factor a plus for humans when it comes to which race is the best for WM? I want to make a white mage but I want to be human, because, um, I'm a human. But that's just my preference. Maybe my source for this info is wrong though.

I haven't gotten my beta yet, so don't take my word for truth, but from what I understand, it works like this:
Intelligence gives mp.
Mind gives more power to spells.
So, an Elvaan with high MND and low INT can cast a heal that does a little more than average, but not very many times.
A Taru with high INT and lower MND can cast heals all day long, and even though they might do slightly less than the Elvaan's they will end up healing more because of the higher amount of MP.

MND relates to quality of white magic.
INT relates to quality of black magic.
The higher your MND, the more effective your white magic is. Elvaans usually heal more than Tarutaru's(in a single heal... with a difference of maybe max 3-4HP) because they have the highest MND.
Same how MND can affect how much you can heal in a single cast, INT affects how much damage you can deal in a single cast. Tarutaru's can nuke really well because they have incredibly high INT(smart bastards) but Elvaans have the lowest INT(I feel humiliated that Elvaan are considered stupid).FFXI

That is correct. MND is WHM and INT is BLM. At level 55 my MND is just a hair below my INT, but I also have +18 MND from my equipment. If you want to be a career mage, Tarutaru is a good way to go, but be warned for all the MP we have been given, we have almost NO HP. And a lot of MP upping equipment, rings and such are a minus to HP. I have a minus 20 HP plus 20 MP ring. Playing as a Tarutaru mage with no subjob, when you start the game, is VERY hard and you will die VERY frequently.
There is no reason you cannot be a WHM Hume. Humes have very average stats so they are good for every job. Tarus have low strengh, dex all the stats that make players good fighters. Now I am toying around with a warrior for kicks and giggles. I would never be a career fighter though.

I would say Hume because your spells usually get interupted when the monster attacks, so if you try to keep casting the spells might fail, but if you have more HP then you don't need to worry about casting white magic as much on yourself.
Hume
More HP - Can survive longer
Less MP - Can't cast as much
Tarutaru
Less HP - Can't survive as long
More MP - Can cast more"From the void all things are born.
To the void all things return."

Vissione, I hear you. I had my Hume warrior trying to get pts in Bastok, and when Id get a person who only speaks jap, they'd leave really fast when they found out I only spoke english. Now that I have whm as my main job, they stay!Temp Using this account
