  • Is there an easy way?

I recently started anew, and have been leveling a WAR/MNK. Simply I plan to take it to 37.

As soon as I got to lvl 5, I switched to using a Butterfly Axe. Man, what a PAIN! Trying to skillup on EP is pretty much useless, DC only give me a mere 0.1 skillup every blue moon, if I try to level on Even Match I end up having to run like a sissy girl.

Is there a faster or easier way to skillup this damn G.Axe? Should I just stick to DC or something? Will it get better as I go party in Dunes and take on tougher enemies and faster skill up? ...With the constant misses and low damage. >.>

Right now, I'm simply level 6 with a skill level of... 6, and I just want to break this axe in half.

Not much you can do but stick to it. Two handed weapons can be a pain to skill-up. Great axe is awesome for a long time though, so stick to it. Shield break is amazing, and sturmwind pulls some nice numbers too.

Low damage is a good thing for skill ups, high damage means less swings and thusly less chances for skill ups, missing is another issue altogether. If you are serious about wanting to skill it up use Jack O latern for food for the ACC boost 3-5K each but they last for 3hrs. If you don't want to shell out the cash find a chef with cooking in the high 30's to make them.

      Best of Luck!

Skill level of 6 is the cap for level 1 WAR. Which means you should be able to get skill ups on any mob level 2 and up. (The level of the mob you need to fight for skill ups is relative to your skill level, and not necessarily your job level, in case you weren't aware.)

Skill ups on EPs probably seem useless because many of them will die too quickly. At your level, EMs are rather tough because you are 1 level away from a significant armor upgrade.

My suggestion: just keep killing whatever EPs and DCs give you decent exp without too much trouble. You'll gradually skill up your weapon as you level. Trying to keep any weapon type at its cap just through solo efforts is a difficult task, so don't worry about actually making it happen.

If you can get your skill up to a point where you're reasonably effective on your own, you should be able to use it in an exp party. And that's when capping your skill and keeping it capped will become routine.

Re: Is there an easy way?

Hrmm, whenever I have to level a new weapon on a new class I always do a few things.

          1. Selbina Milk, buy a couple stacks if money permits, this stuff can save lives!

          2. Good Food, Food is an essential when leveling a new weapon because the DMG is so poor. It will be the difference between living and dieing in some cases also. It's probably a bit wasteful, but I usually use Rice Dumplings at this point, as they seem to be universally one of the best foods in the game.

          3. Potions, I usually keep 3-4 of these on me if possible, just incase things take a bad turn or some lizard gives me a nice little burst of plauge breath. Antidotes are also a nice plan ahead, expecially since they stack.

This is basicly the strategy I used when I leveled both Ninja and Ranger... since the two of them are a bit tough to start off since you don't have the weapons skilled and they aren't really defensive classes like warrior.

Only other suggestion I would make would be to always carry a weapon you are skilled with you. Skill one to max, then switch the other one in and level it on the side. You'll skill up great axe quickly in the dunes and if you head for the Worm Camp in Konschtat Highlands around level 9-10 you can skill on Worms for a quite a while.

Sometimes you do not want to do too much damage while you're skilling though. The more damage you do, the quicker the enemy dies, the shorter time you have to skill the weapon on a particular enemy.

            Just some food for thought.
