Anything is possible... But if you're wanting to know if it's logical, then it's a big no. I really don't see what /mnk would bring DD wise post-40.

        Re: War/mnk to 75?

If you check the KI Warrior forums you should be able to find a topic of someone else who attempted, and succeeded, in this endeavor. I believe it's a full chronicalling of this persons journey to 75 as a War/Mnk. It's also a very long, very flamed filled topic.

Personally, though I do feel that /mnk is a viable useful sub for war, I believe that *only* using mnk limits you more then anything. Warrior is a very versitile job and can be played very differently when choosing and changing your sub. I think that you're missing out on a lot of your potential by not having other subs ready and able to go.

I myself have Mnk to 37, nin to 41 and thf to 52, so all three are capable of being subbed at any time. I am also in the process of lvling Sam and Drk incase a situation calls for their unique enhancements. And eventually I'll force myself to take Drg to 37, despite my dislike of the job(it's not that I think Drgs suck, cause they don't, I just don't like pet jobs and spears) because it's said to be an excellent TP burn sub when equipped with a Gaxe.

Okay... I maybe stupid, but what exactly does /sam give you? Only thing they offer is 60%tp every 3 min, and Third Eye. The highest Store tp trait you'd get is stage2, which is a 15% increase(1.5% per swing). To me, if you don't already have it leveled, it would be a waste of time unless you plan on levelling the job sometime soon anyways. You already have the two main subs levelled, why not just keep those two and finish off your WAR? (Not sure if your profile is updated or not, but I'm assuming you're still 43).

            Re: War/mnk to 75?

I just thought I'd mention that I have a friend in my LS that is currently level 61 and she has leveled as war/mnk from the very beginning...she really doesn't like nin, so she hasn't even gone to the trouble of leveling it yet, in fact she just unlocked the job maybe about a week ago. You'll get invites, but they'll be sparse, and also you may get some from stupid people, because you'll arrive and they'll say something like "Oh no /nin?" and keep you anyway(it's happened to her multiple times). Since you really like the job combo, Ithink you should just stick with it and good luck. :D

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

personally i love /nin. I find it a very nice combo that no other "basic DD" (DRG,SAM, MNK,) "usually cannot" wield it "as" effectivly as a war/nin.

I use a lot of quotations because every situation is different and im aware that most jobs can and do sub nin.

                Re: War/mnk to 75?

Its possible and alll. After all there was a time where WAR/MNK was THEE combination of choice for DD and tanking... At one time it was even more popular than WAR/NIN is right now. I personally think its a the most solid WAR sub for any level. Yes its not the best at anything but I think it keeps warrior the specialist-generalist(odd term I know). Its not gimped in anyway. The problem is you have to select equipment and play it alittle different than other subs.

How it gets its bad name, is from all the people that want only desire specialists in parties. Nowadays MOST(not all) people want job combinations that squeeze every shred of potential ability out for one thing alone. In this situation WAR/MNK has no place because it isnt a pure specialist. It can tank decently while putting out decent damage(Decent as in little better than Acceptable), its like a hybrid combo. Throw on Berserk or Defender and you can seriously switch from tanking to DDing(or vice versa) in a blink of an eye. It also has the stats to do either without much gear modification. HOWEVER, its not a godly tank and its not a godly DD; therefore, people generally do not want it.

WAR/NIN can be played effectively as a tank/backup tank. At the same time you can get away with have berserk up and DD gear on while tanking because you have shadows to negate damage from a few hits. Whether its more effect or not is decided by about a bazillion different things.

All in all: its generally easier to play a good WAR/NIN than it is to play a good WAR/MNK. Because of this, people WANT warriors to sub NIN since most(Not everyone) people can play it more effectively than they can other subjobs.

BUT remember: Regardless of what a job is subbing it ALWAYS gets atleast 1 point in EVERY stat. Because of this WAR/ANYTHING can be turned into a total monster* at DDing or TANKING with correct gear and food. Subjobs merely enchance your ability to do something.

                * - Monster as in VERY good, not exactly godly.

I know a friend who used to party 70+ without a subjob as warrior. Since he had such good gear/food combinations he could tank or DD with ease. The stats and abilities of warrior alone were enough for him to do either.

Does this mean subjobs are useless? HELL NO! ANY subjob will automatically give you a large advantage. Even WAR/SMN gives you a STR, DEX, AGI, VIT and HP bonus and thats a bonus you wouldn't have without a subjob. Even if its only a 1 point bonus, it makes a difference. Otherwise people, wouldnt pay like 3 million for +1 gear which useally only gives you +1 extra to an additional bonus on a stat.

If you want to only use /MNK with WAR, go for it. The road to 75 will be harder but thats it. Just throw something like this in your search comment and you will be fine:

                WAR/MNK
                Tank or DD
Food = (insert favored food for tanking/DDing)

If anyone askes/demands you sub ninja or thief, politely decline. They may still consider you if you act civilized and polite rather than if you respond rashly. If they dont, just keep your flag up and leave them alone(unless they reconsider ^_^)

Finaly good luck! My warrior is only 42, but I know more warriors than any other job out there. Some followed /NIN from 1 to 75, others followed /DRG from 1 to 75, and there were about 100 other paths that were followed and each and everyone on worked out in one way or another...

EDIT: I Think I am not alone when I say the most important thing in playing WAR or any job is common sense. If you are solo tanking as WAR/MNK at like 40 or any other combination, please for the love of god: use defense gear! Not that level 7-30 DD gear!

Good luck in which ever path you take.
